Is there an option to erase/format to wipe out a drive?

This hardware docking station is designed for cloning drives and file transfers.  It doesn't have any internal software or specific hardware button to erase or format drives.  When you start the cloning process, it will erase the target drive files/data. For that reason, the manufacturer recommends first backing up your target drive. Afterward, clone the drives.

Can this device clone one ssd to another?

It absolutely can. And it's much faster going from SSD to SSD than from HDD to SSD or vice versa. Best luck!

Will this truly clone a hard drive? Meaning will the OS be cloned as well?

Absolutely. I cloned a 3 terabyte drive that was starting to act up and had Smart errors. Cloned it, swapped it, booted up no problem.  It took about 7 hours to clone.

Can this clone/fit  a  Kingston A2000 NVMe PCIe SSD ?

It will not clone any nvme drives. It must have a sata connector, or be a media device shown on the front.

is this capable of  cloning  if  source drive is encrypted with bitlocker ?

Yes it will copy. You will need Bitlocker to read the Data on the copied drive.

So you're stating that this little gem can only copy-copy in the hard drive slots? What good are the USBs? The charging USBs? The card slots? Cleaning 'up' the hard drive? Not much? To the PC?

You are correct.  The device can only clone on SATA interfaces.  As to what good the rest is... well, it is a multifunction device.  It provides two external SATA ports that can clone one to another, full feature USB ports (for use as a USB hub), charging only USB ports for functioning like a device charger (they deliver higher wattage than the full function ports I believe), and flash card interfaces for adding that functionality to a computer that otherwise doesn't have it.  There are other devices out there that offer only the SATA interfaces and cloning if you don't need the rest.

I have not tried to use on a Linux system. I have to believe it would work based on how Linux finds drives. It works great on Windows 10.

Can you read and write to both drives at the same time in the docking station?

Each drive bay shows up as a separate drive letter. You can copy to both even copy between them.

Can this be configured to mirror data between drives, basically I backup my files onto drive 1 and it will mirror it onto drive 2?

Drive to drive copy works best if both drives are identical.
If  source drive is smaller than destination drive it works but limits destination drive size.
If source drive is larger than destination drive it fails and may damage the destination drive.
Minitool Shadowmaker software has a pay and a free version.
It will make backup files and clone disks as well.
It is safe for about anything you want to do with drives and manages wavlink drives too.

Question 10

What if I want to clean up the inside of my case and I want to use this to move two internal 3.5 inch HDDs outside the case.  Will both drives be recognized and function normally?... they will be used for media playback and storage.

They'll work independently, and you'll be able to address them just like they were internal for most purposes.  The biggest differences you'll see are the speed, USB 3 isn't as fast as direct internal SATA, and they may not be seen by the BIOS for booting.   I'm really happy with it for memory cards and quick access to drives that have old information, but for high speed apps like video editing I still use internal drives.  Viewing movies should work but if they're big (like 4K), or it's a server with multiple people watching, things might slow down.
