Can I mount this into an m.2 slot using Pcie?

It depends. If the m.2 slot alows both sata 3 and pcie m.2 drives then yes. But if the slot only allows for pcie m.2 drives then no.
Example: My asus z270i mother board has 2 m.2 slots. However only one alows both sata 3 and pcie m.2 drive so the other I can only use a pcie m.2 drive.

Does this work with an MSI Z170 Krait Gaming 3X motherboard?

I am not completely familiar with the MSI Krait motherboard, BUT, if your board has an M.2 socket built onto the board... yes it should definitely work.
I had to learn the hard way by trial and I should like to make you aware of the M.2 slot on the motherboard takes precedence over one of your SATA slots that are engineered into the board. So that one of your SATA connections on the board does not work if you have a M.2 SSD in use. Be sure to check your motherboard manual for this information as it will tell you which SATA slot will not be active with the use of the M.2 drive.

I would like to upgrade my HP Pavilion x2 11 with this larger SSD.  Is it compatable?

i do not believe that model has an m.2 slot. the flash memory could be embedded in the motherboard of the device. What you could do is open it up and see if there is a PHYSICAL SSD Drive.. if not then buy a larger external SSD and utilize through your usb when docked. if there is get a larger internal SSD and replace what is inside . i hope this was helpful.

Yes. That Gigabyte motherboard does support both PCIe (NVME) and SATA SSD m.2 drives. So this will work. However, consult your manual as typically with an m.2 drive installed, it will disable up to two of your SATA III 6GB ports, and that could potentially conflict with existing HDD/SSD's installed in your system.

Question 5

This M.2 SSD has 2 notch connector instead of some other M.2 SSD which has one notch at the connector end.  Will the 2 notch connector SSD works on the one notch PCIex3 slot which has only one notch?

The notches denote which key connection the M.2 uses, either "M" or "B". In the past this was more important to note, because the M.2s were made with either or connections. Today most M.2s have both types of connections to eliminate compatibility problems. This particular M.2 has both types and will connect to any system using either "M" or "B" key connectors.

Question 6

Does this come with the cables and instructions necessary to mirror the current boot drive so that you can then swap the two and run?  If so, how did that work for you?  Can you copy all info before doing the swap?  (I presume this is essential)  If I need to ask this question are my computer skills too low to successfully install it?

No it does not. Only the drive is packaged. Screws did ship with my motherboard, if you no longer have those I'd suggest emailing your motherboard manufacturer or asking a friend.

can this be used in a MSI Z170A XPower Gaming Titanium Edition . this has 3 prongs & on the one for the msi shows only 2. Can either be used? Thank you
