Pros: Good price, I like Western Digital for reliability
Cons: I order dozens of drives. The last couple batches, especially the last batch, the plastic by the area where the SATA cable plugs in breaks off, rendering the drive inoperable. The failure rate for this problem is much higher than what you would expect leading me to believe there was a quality issue that occurred somewhere in production.
Overall Review: May stick with Western Digital, but will try a different drive for now.

Good Drive1/7/2008 9:22:19 PM
Pros: Fast Drive, Good Drive, runs Cool.
Definitely a SATA drive.
Cons: My only problem with this was that its powered using ONLY the SATA 15-Pin power Connectors. So you CANNOT use the older 4 pin Expansion drive Power connectors like my other WD caviar drives because it does not exist here.
Overall Review: I brought this so I can load the OS on it ONLY, I have another drive for applications and another for media, which is also a WD Caviar except much larger capacity. It runs really well if you have like 3+ of these.

Great HDD3/16/2010 4:26:59 PM
Pros: I have about 15 to 20 of these drives in our workstations here and not once have I had an issue with them.(nothing fancy going on with the machines, just your standard workstations)
I did not need a lot of storage, since we use roaming profiles and redirects to the server. 7200RPM and 8MB Cache do help with program loading and all that "other" Windows fun!
Cons: People that do not understand what "bare drive" or "OEM" mean and knock an egg or two off because they did not get a cable, book or what ever...
When you order a "bare drive" or "OEM" you can almost bet you will need cables and will not get a retail box. Always good to check though before you knock an egg!
There is a reason they cost less then what they go for retail...Most system builders could care less about a box and most of the time you have a bin of cables :D
This goes for all hardware...just not HDDs!
Other then that no cons here!
Overall Review: Great HDD, I have had good luck with WD in the past and that seems to be true for these as well.
Pros: At Atlas Networks, we use these drives in our value series dedicated servers. While not specifically a server hard drive, we've yet to have one fail in a constant use environment. Inexpensive and reliable. Thanks Newegg for keeping our costs down so we can provide an affordable solution to our customers!

Great Drives2/11/2009 3:14:51 PM
Pros: I have 2 of these drives setup in a raid 0' Drives run great and i am thinking of buying a 3rd drive to enhance the speed even more.
Cons: none so far
Overall Review: Newegg is the best I accidently ordered 2 IDE drives and newegg sent me a return shipping label and did not charge any restocking fees.
Pros: It a good, reliable drive that *used* to be cheap.
Cons: The price has more than doubled from a couple years ago when I bought a few of these drives. Apparently this is due to flooding in Thailand, the major world supplier of HDDs.
Overall Review: I'd probably wait on buying any HDD until the problems in Thailand are sorted out.
Pros: It definately is SATA dunno what the other guy is talking about...
Cons: OEM means... you get the drive... nuttin else...
Overall Review: Newegg is crazy fast with shipping.... but everyone says that so.
