Does the phone come with Android 2.3 as mentioned in the product specification or with Android 4.1.2 updates installed?

My phone had 2.3 installed.  It can easily be upgraded with the Samsung Kies software. Its pretty automatic and upgraded the Skyrocket (SGH-I727) to Android v4.1.2 UCMC1.

If the phone is on stock software and used with a carrier other than AT&T. The MMS app can send MMS but not receive MMS.  I had to root the phone, download the SecMms.apk for the I9100 (International version) and copy over the /system/app/SecMms.apk.  My understand is most Samsung Touchwiz ROMS have this problem.

Yes, the I-727 skyrocket does work with the straight talk service using the AT&T network. I believe the limitation on the phone determines if it will operate on 3G or 4G speeds.

If you are porting a number from another cell phone save yourself some time and call the 800 number for straight talk. I have tried to port through the website on several phones and have never got it to work.

The Galaxy S II Skyrocket phone fulfilled all my desires and expectation of a smart "android" phone, until I saw the Galaxy S 5.
I use the Skyrocket now as a device to play Sudoku and use the S 5 for everything else under the sun: superior photos and videos, voice command internet searching, navigation and oh yes, texting and phone calls too.

The skyrocket is a great phone. I have one and my daughter has one.  Very fast and responsive. Has settings other phones do not have. The only problem was  sometimes I was working long shifts and using it a lot on the job the battery would not last. Got an extended battery and it lasts through the 12 hour shifts. Love the phone.
