Perhaps a strange question, but could this be used to back up a computer, even though it's designed to be an Xbox backup?

Sure, your PC will detect and format it as needed, and then then Xbox will do the same if you connect to it later.

Question 2

This apparently is for the Xbox One, can it be used with the Xbox One X that takes a 3.0 USB cable?  Does the cable, power supply and all needed cables come with this and how long is the 3.0 USB cable?

Yea, everything comes in the box (including international power adapters) it will totally work with the One X! (These hard drives only work with the newer consoles because of the USB 3.0, and it’s superfast transfer speeds)

The USB 3.0 Cable is approx 3ft long.

No, it will not work with a PS4 because of the usb hub built into it. The PS4 will not recognize it. You will have to get a standard 8tb HD that does not have a built in usb hub to ensure compatibility with the PS4. Seagate makes them without the usb hub built in them.

Is this a 7200 Rpm Hard Drive or a 5X00 Rpm Hard Drive?

Because its USB driven my guess is that its 5400. 7.2k usually requires a wall plug in for some reason.

This is just reckoning with my previous experiences. I dont know of a sure way to tell short of calling the company or breaking open the drive housing.

Question 5

When my Xbox is off, the white LED (Seagate logo) on the hard drive will come on every 15-20 mins and stay on for a few seconds up to maybe a minute then go off. The hard drive doesn't actually power up, it's just the light. I could tell if the drive came on too b/c it is loud when it first powers on, it makes a loud ramp up sound and a few clicks but after initial power up it stays silent. Are these things normal for this hard drive? Does this happen to anyone else or should I be more concerned? I would really hate for it to die already and have to get a new one and re-install all my games especially since it's barley a month old. Thanks in advance for any help!

My WD external hard drive does this. If your Xbox is set up to update games when it's turned off it will turn the HD on while it does it. There is a setting on the Xbox where you can turn off any external drives while the console is off though.
