Spec research created perhaps their most useful keyboard to date with their model 01028. This keyboard removes the repetitive nature of going from keyboard to mouse by combining the two into one device, and while that's been done before, it has never been done as well. The full qwerty keyboard is pretty much as you'd expect it, and the media and web browsing keys are intuitively aligned.
The optical trackball will be a breeze to use, and as responsive as a high performance sports car. The scroll wheel is equally well placed and just as pleasurable to use. In the unlikely event that a mouse is needed, the keyboard features its own USB port for simple plug'n play operation.
Office, Internet and Multimedia Hot KeysThe SPEC Research 01028 features 23 hot keys with a scroll wheel for efficient management and easy access to the Internet, multimedia and office applications.
USB PortThe SPEC Research 01028 features a USB port for hot-pluggability and easy connection to computers without the need for any software drivers. This design also results in excellent compatibility with current desktop and notebook computers.
Integrated Optical TrackballThe integrated 800 DPI optical trackball provides quick and precise cursor control and negates the need for a mouse.
Pros: Its thin, It was pretty cheap, it has an extra usb port, mine required no drivers to work even including a lot of the extra function buttons for music playback , I loved the trackball it is actually really useful and best of all you dont HAVE to use it because of the extra usb port.
Cons: The only two problems I have with this keyboard is the enter key/key layout, the enter key i almost always have to look at in order to hit it it seems much smaller than on other keyboards and unlike many kayboards the enter key is vertically aligned instead of horizontal, as far as the other keys go you better be ready to look at the 'board cause some of the keys are in weird places. My other pet peeve is the tendancy to cater to windows media player so most of my extra function buttons work including the browser ones with firefox but some of the media player buttons didn't work however I am pleased to report that the media player button opened winamp which is my default but the track skip buttons didn't work.
Overall Review: Overall i like it quite a bit barring those few things which I mentioned its actually very nice and with the 6 foot usb cord extention I bought to go with is I can sit on the other side of my room and fiddle with things like changing songs.
