Question 1

Do the orange strips at the top and bottom light up or is that just another deceptive photo like the neon blue fan they show in the picture?

I have boxed up and donated this particular case to a local charity.
Then bought a Thermaltake level 10 snow which is awesome.

So I don't have the recon case any longer.

I do NOT remember seeing any illuminating orange light-strips on the old case. I don't recall anything that lit up orange.

Just an FYI.
At least one reviewer said something to the effect that this recon case is ok for the average pc builder, as they themselves don't add and subtract parts all the time. Or something like that.
While I understand what that person means, that seems like a poor excuse for justifying the  purchase of a flimsy case.

I do not disassemble a whole chassis or anything like that every 6 months or 1 year, because I get bored. 
But I do tend to open the case and upgrade parts occasionally.

So I expect a case to stand up to occasional opening and closing. In the case of the recon, I did not use it since the threaded section for locking down add-on cards easily bent.
I really could not assure that add-on cards, like a video card or two, would lock in and stay locked in, even if screws were tightly installed on each card.
When the foundation of a PC system bends,  it does not give me a warm and fuzzy feeling.

Everyone is entitled to their opinion, but with all the reviews on this particular case, I can't understand why you couldn't scrape together $20  more and buy a better built case (even if you had to cutback on other parts in your PC build to do so).

How many fans can this hold?

3 case fans. Two 120 mm and the side panel can hold either one 120 mm or one 140 mm. It only comes with one 120 but I bought another 120 and a 140 for mine. Can't beat this case for the price!

Will an MSI Radeon 7770 gpu fit in this case?

Although I have a couple of cases that are almost triple in cost of this Xigmatek CCM-35ABX-U01 (Antec 900's) I am completely and happily surprised with this so called budget case, worth every penny. Plenty of room, not bad looking and the blue 120mm fan is a nice surprise. Only con it may be a little flimsy, but I don't intend to move it around like a laptop.

Question 5

One reviewer noted there was only room for ONE 3.5" hard drive? The specs state this case has room for x4 3.5" drive bays and x2 2.5" drive bays. 
Can someone else confirm?

Agreed there is basically enough room for one 3.5 HDD, but technically you could fit more( maybe the 4 is states) but there is no brackets or anything fancy like that. Is just a straight mount to the case and you will probably have to stack them(**just say there is room for one). As for the 2.5 SSD( or Laptop HDD...?) it can be screwed directly on a piece of metal in the case where most better cases would have those "tool less bracket"(i still screw them in anyway lol) the second spot is like a random table like thing. It is behind the fan and is where you can screw the SSD on top and slid the HDD under. ** note the the HDD/SSD will have the long side facing you, so the connections will be pointing to the left (closer to the mobo).

Will a 305mm GPU fit fine in this 330mm case with plenty of breathing space?

Honestly, this case was purchased to house an older 9800gtx but now holds a gtx650. A 330 mm fan might be a little large for this case. I would recommend a more sturdy option for you. One with a little more space.

Which screws should I use to mount motherboard? the hex screws seem to not fit and there are only 5

It has been a while since I built the computer I using this case, and it was for my brother. Therefore, I don't have easy access to double check, and I may not be remembering correctly. There should be screws with two different types of threading. The 6-32 have a wider thread and are common in most cases for mounting the motherboard. It seems like the M3 screws with the narrower threading may have been the ones I had to use for the motherboard in this case.

You should be able to double check by screwing each type into the standoffs or the motherboard mounting holes in the case to see how far they will go. The incorrect size should stop pretty quickly.

The Xigmatek Recon only supports 2 additional fans after the 1 fan that comes with it. One in the front, one on the side, and one in the back. For a budget build this is a great case, but I would recomend a more premium case if your budget supports it.

does this case come with a case speaker?(better yet what all was included?)

The unopened Xigmatek box I received did not come with a speaker. The only included items were some black cable ties (zip style), and a bag of screws with other motherboard mounting hardware. The case did come with a rear 120mm fan pre-installed, but no front fan installed. The front USB 3.0 internal connector is not secure, it plugs into the motherboard without any retention and becomes unplugged with the slightest movement of the case, even easier to unplug than a loose fitting SATA cable.
