Does this come with any initial filament or do you have to order filament as well?

Greg, it comes with approximately half a roll of clear filament. We order replacement filament from B&H photo New York, best price and free ship. My son has designed and printed some amazing things with this printer. If it is your first 3d printer, you cannot go wrong. Slicer/firmware is easy to use, and we use 1-2-3 studio to do the actual designing. This printer is a huge head start for you designers.

Question 2

Will this work with autoCad 3D ?

Most 3d programs will work as long as you export to STL and use the included programs to print, but I don't recommend this printer as I would probably spend a bit more for a better printer. This printer is nice to play  around with but lacks many features nicer printers have like speed, the ability to use other plastics like abs, size of prints, and a heated bed. the objects get stuck to the bed in this printer and are really hard to take out without damaging the print. Also I had two of these printers break on me only after a couple of prints

Is a consumer able to create his/her own designs for it to print or not? If yes, what would one need to make his/her own designs for the printer to create?

The printer does not come with any 3D modeling software, you will need to download a third party program (ie Sketchup, Blender) and export the .STL file into the provided XYZware print software to print.

Will this 3D printer print badges, tokens or fake coins?

What additional products, materials or software will we need?

I don't know about badges but it prints anything that other 3D printers do and it may not be in equal quality to the $1,000 Cube printer or more expensive, it does a great job.

You need:

- Elemer's washable school glue sticks, do NOT use the scotch tape that comes bundled in for holding the prints, it sucks and it is expensive.  Put 2-3 layers of glue on the glass and that holds the print just fine.
- Learn how to print, this will take a few tries. download the XYZ print software and NEVER print directly from the PC to the printer, put the print (export) in the SD card and print from the SD Card.
- You do want to upgrade the printer's firmware before you do any printing.
- Learn about how to fix the 3D STL models before printing, see modelrepair from Microsoft
- Get STL files from Thingiverse website, lots of free samples
- spend some more cash and get a spool of each color, it is fun mixing up the colors.
- We also got an UPS so if power goes out it does not stop printing and damage the printer.
- Watch some tutorials about 3D printing, we found TWIT KnowHow episodes from Padre SJ very informative.
