Is there a sub-woofer connection?

Yes. It's a pre-amp connection so you'll need a powered subwoofer. One thing I didn't think about - I was going to use my old subwoofer (which ended up at Goodwill).

Can I use this receiver for my computer? My computer has two 3.5mm output jacks and I am hoping I can convert them to RCA.

If you mean can you use the v377 to play all the the media from your computer then then answer is yes.

All you need for sound is to grab a couple of 3.5 to RCA connectors and the output from the computer can be input to the receiver.  You'll need 1 or 2 depending on your sound card and the configuration of the surround sound mode.  It's truly easy to do and I'd recommend it to anyone that has a large library of media on their computer.  Also it works brilliantly if you have games that you run on your computer and want a bigger sound than ordinary desktop speakers.

I also purchased the Yamaha bluetooth adapter so that I can input from my tablet and android devices.

Question 3

setup guide indicates hooking bd/dvd to hdmi 1. is there a specific reason to use this hookup? mine hooked to hdmi 3. Does it make a difference?

It does not make a difference. Any HDMI port will do. Mine is plugged into 3 also

When in the 2 channel stereo mode, is it actually operating in 2.0 or 2.1 mode? That is, does it work with the subwoofer when in this mode?

Just checked.  Yes, my subwoofer does operate when the unit is set on 2-channel stereo.  Hope this helps.

Can this be configured to output 2 stereo channels instead of 5.1 surround?

One of the music surround modes is 2 channel stereo where the front two speakers are powered.  There is also a 5 channel stereo mode which puts the left channel equally on both the front and rear left speakers and the danger on the right.  I use the latter when watching tv to help those sitting further back in the room hear things clearly.

Question 6

Hey, I'm new to HT setups. If I get this, it's main purpose would be to connect to a PC (HTPC) and Television (nothing fancy), both via HDMI, and be able to play out the audio as the content dictates. The PC will also have some light games to it also. How well would you say it handled a wide variety of audio coming in and going back out?

This unit serves very well as the hub for multimedia sources.  I have connections from my PC, a gaming console, Blueray, cable TV and wireless sources such as phone and tablets. (to use bluetooth you need the add on piece YWA-10)

The surround sound function has presets for gaming, music and movies or you can use the included mic and let the receiver test for the best fit.

I use the Pioneer speakers by Andrew Jones (including the sub) and it's amazing how much sound the 377 can produce.  I don't know if it will fill truly large spaces but it does well in a room 25x20.

I have a led tv, 4 bose speakers, blue-ray dvd and hopper system, will this receiver work with all this?

While I don't recall all the inputs handled by the RX-V377, I have all that and more and it works fine.  I'm very pleased with the receiver.

I just bought a RX-V377 receiver and hooked up a Blu-ray, cable and they work great. I try hooking up my WII and XBOX but the display for those are displaying black and white, any suggestions on what I am doing wrong?

You are using the wrong cables in the wrong inputs. Nothing wring with the receiver.

If you know of any solution to this question, or have tried everything and just given up, I'd be very grateful. My setup: Intel 4590 cpu; 980GTX GPU; This Yamaha 377v receiver, Samsung HU9000FXZA 4k TV, 5.1 speakers. I *really* want this combination give me the surround sound decoded signal (Dolby II, DTS 2.5, etc.)I've tried every permutation, combination of signal and receiver, inputs, outputs, and the best I can do is get a nice 5.1 straight sound stereo effect - nice separation, no surround. Can anyone either help, or say it's impossible with this unit, stick with the optical signal at best. I've read everything. I've *tried* almost everything. Help? Thank you so much.

I have the 55" Class KS8500 Curved 4K SUHD TV. I have that and my computer, an AMD build with Sapphire card, running into this receiver. First thing is check which channel you are running through. On mine, I have the computer running through HDMI 2. I have an optical cable running from the TV to the receiver for normal TV through the speakers. This HAS to run through AV5. Check that first off. Then, check the settings of the TV itself to see what it is using as its priority for audio. It will tell you. If you go between devices a bunch, it might make things weird and you have to check constantly. Be sure to check your default audio settings on the computer, too. That can get a little weird on you as well in regards to what to select. Just put on some music, keep the audio low so you don't blow your ears out, and test it out.

Also, on the remote, change the audio type. I just run 2 channel for my needs/wants. I don't have the remote in front of me or I'd tell you what buttons to press.

can you hook up a turntable to this unit?

Yes. You will need a phono pre-amp, but that is relatively minor. Use good RCA cables. I think 5ch stereo mode sounds the best, but there are a lot of settings you can change to make it sound the way you like.
