Question 3

1 HDMI Input and 1 HDMI Output is listed in the specifications.  Does this mean that this can only take a single HDMI Input?  I have a Sony with 4 HDMI Inputs and 1 Output and can cross the component audio with digital etc.  I just need a nice 3D HDMI pass though as mine does not support it.  6 HDMI Inputs would be nice but the specification page lists 1.

Hi Chris. The RX-V677 has 6 HDMI inputs. I got it a few months ago, so I can vouch for it. The 3D looks good, at least on my TV (Mitsubishi DLP).

Can I get the internet with the built in wifi?

To a certain degree. You can stream music from certain services (pandora, siriusxm, slacker, etc.) but as far as browsing websites and checking email, no.

Question 5

I have a Samsung TV without no ARC port could this be why I am having video issues with the Yamaha V677?

What kind of issues are you having? I'm not sure what ARC is, but I have a Sony TV and I'm having HDMI cable issues. It seems that certain cables don't work properly (tested them fine with other devices and bypassed the receiver), and sometimes a wiggle does the trick?

This may have been the port but Yamaha support was TERRIBLE in helping me with this. They wanted me to pay for all the shipping there and back just for them to take a look. I instead opted for the alternate option and drove it 2 hours to an authorized repair dealer who told me he couldn't fix it because it was "our fault".... What did we do? Nothing. "We broke the port".

Is this duel voltage 110/220?

No.  According to the users manual, the voltage selector is only available on the "General model." Not sure what that means, but my 677 does not have the switch (nor does the 777 I am told).

I am looking into a system that will be a home surround sound system that can play sirus off my dish network subscription, and home entertainment system. I don't need high w/ and will my current five speaker and subwoofer be ok or should I start with a new set of speakers?

Since the volume is digital, it needs to be preset to a specific power-on level.  I believe that the default level is about -25 dbm, which should be safe for most speakers.  I have a pair of (very efficient) Altec Lansing Voice of the Theater speakers, and that level is moderate when tuned to an FM station. That level is adjustable in the setup menus.

Does it have a phono input? And is the zone 2 audio output powered (capable of driving speakers directly)?

It does not have a phono input, but with a phono pre-amp you should be able to find another input to use. There are hookups on the back for zone 2 out, one set unpowered, one powered, though they are also the same hookups for the front presence speakers, so if you are going to use presence speakers, you are limited to preamp out for zone 2.

Does this a/v receiver upscale video, say 1080i, to 1080p?

Yes it will upscale up to 4k, but I only have a 1080p tv so it brings my fios from 1080i to 1080p.
