Does this AV Receiver have a remote with two power buttons, one button and one off button?

The RX-V375 has a single power on/off button. When connected to the TV using an HDMI cable the TV remote control on/off button will TURN OFF both the TV and the receiver, but each unit must be turned on individually.

The R at the end of the model number showed up on the shipping page after my purchase and before delivery. (RX-V375 R) It was not in the number on the invoice or the sales page, just poped up later so has me wondering while I wait for delivery.

Can this receiver be used as a NON- surround sound, and simply as a home audio receiver?

Yes, that's how I use it. 2 speakers and a subwoofer. Using the remote you select "2 speaker stereo" as an option. Sub woofer optional.

At first I didn't want to read the manual but the tweeker in me got the best of me. I spent 1 hour going through the PDF manual and I have tuned the system. I'm not an audiophile but this amp with "Pioneer SP-BS41-LR 2 CH Bookshelf Loudspeakers Pair" and "Pioneer SW-8-K 100W Powered Subwoofer Single"
sound great.  No problems recommending this product.

It comes with a special microphone on a long cable for auto testing. Very simple. plug the mic in and run the autotest. The auto test improved the sound.

Yes, but I haven't set it up yet. I see no reason that it should not work.

Will it support Sony 6omhs speakers?

Yes, you can manually configure this amp to accept the 6 ohm speakers. The "Easy Setup Guide" on page 3 discusses the way to do this. Though the amp defaults to 8 ohm speakers, if you follow the instructions, it should allow you to use your Sony speakers. While the amp is supposed to be somewhat "bare bones", it has many nice features that after a little reading, allowed me to setup my 5.1 system perfectly and it includes an automatic balancing system microphone that does a fantastic job giving you centered- sounding output even if your chair is off to the side of the room as mine is. If I ever upgrade my system, I will stick with the Yamaha amps!

I have 4 ohms speakers needing 100+watts per speaker. Will this receiver be maxed out, or can I add surround with 8 ohm speakers?

According to Yamaha, the amp is rated at 70 W per channel (8 ohms, 20 Hz-20 kHz, 0.09% THD, 2 ch driven)
This is a continuous load.  
Ideally an amp that makes 70@8ohms should do 140@4ohms.

The transient or temporary peak power is 160 watts with a 4 ohm load. 
"Dynamic Power per Channel (8/6/4/2 ohms) 	110 / 130 / 160 / 180 W"
The amp section has some headroom over rated power.
Just the fact that Yamaha claims it can do a 2 ohm load is impressive.

Based on this data from Yamaha I do think the amp should at least be able to hit 100 watts continuous into a 4 ohm load.

Still If you are going to be cranking it up a lot, get a higher powered amp with more headroom. More power = cleaner sound at higher volumes.
If you rarely turn it up loud, this receiver should drive those speakers.

It is not a good idea to mix different ohm loads.

Does this unit have an aux port to use my iPod? Is it Bluetooth capable?

There is no 3.5mm jack on the unit. You could use a 3.5mm to RCA cable to achieve the result I believe you're looking for (which is what I did). The unit does not have any Bluetooth capabilities.

if i plug in my laptop (samsung chromebook) into the HDMI1 cable and the picture shows up right, but the sound comes out the laptop and not the theater equipment, how do i get the sound to come out of the connected speakers through the Yamaha RX-V375 5.1 Channel 3D AV Receiver WITH the sound? do i need anothor cable or cord? The theater epuiptment is working just fine i watch movies with it all the time!!

The chromebook is not adding the audio into the HDMI port. All PCs and notebooks operate this way. You must use the chromebook audio output somehow. I just use a BluRay player instead to get the full audio features from the DVD.

It will be running the music in my bar area

No, this receiver does not support Bluetooth. You would have to get a newer model in the RX-V or RX-A series, PLUS a YBA-11 Bluetooth wireless audio adapter.
