Does this soundbar connect directly to the tv or is it connected to a  stereo receiver? I have a 52 in samsung lcd.

It can be connected directly to your TV as long as your TV has an Optical Digital Audio output or a Coaxial Digital Audio output.

Using the Optical Digital output is better and the Optical Digital Audio cable is included with the unit.

Almost all modern TVs have an Optical Digital Audio output.

Look at the 5th product image on this site and see if your TV has a connector that looks identical to the one above "TV" and "BD/DVD" in the white boxes. That's the Optical Digital Audio out.

You'll get the sound bar itself (the quality of which I can attest to myself) with two detachable feet, the remote w/ batteries, and an optical (audio in/out) cable.

Will this system work well with older,nonHD tvs?

So long as you have the matching connection types yes this will work with older TVs.

Most likely you'd be using the composite connectors, unless your TV has the Digital Audio hook up ( socket is shaped like a square with two rounded corners ) use that if able.

Note there was a digital audio cable included but not a component cable in the box

Any way to play your smart phone through it. I know there is no bluetooth connrctivity but is there a cord link option?

I don't think so, at least directly... You would need something to convert the analog 3.5RCA jack from the smartphone to either the digital coaxial or optical input on the sound bar. Something like this might work. (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=9SIA0U00D18035) There may be a Bluetooth to digital coax/Optical converter out there too.

Question 5

Do I need extend Yamaha YAS-101BL Front Surround System, Piano with any more subwoofers or speakers? What kind of extended subwofers or speakers work best with it?

I live in a 1 bdrm apt so this solution is enough for my subwoofer needs, any more and I'd have knocks at the door.

I would categorize the built in sub as fair to weak, off the top of my head I'd suggest sticking with another Yamaha device to add onto it if you want to increase the oomf

I want to know how many total watts  this soundbar has. Also, is this system as good as the Sony HT-CT260?  I need to purchase one of them.

The 260H is the same as the 260 except that it has HDMI input and the 260 does not. That is what the 'H' means.

How many total watts is this soundbar?

Based on the spec's I read it as 120 maximum watts.  30w x2 for the Left/Right channels and then 60w for the integrated sub.  Although, it should be stated that maximum wattage output is not usually what the output is when actively listen to it, especially at 10% THD.  This was purchased for my son's bedroom and to full the huge gap that standard LCD TV's leaves when it comes to sound.  The output of this unit is loud enough to hear from other rooms/floors within my home (something I find I'm consistently reminding him of).  It's not an ideal replacement for a 5.1/7.1 rack system but it's a significant improvement over the LCD TVs output in both increased volume and creation of a more dynamic and rich audible experience.
