Does it have a remote? I do not want to use my tv remote.

Yes! It comes with a small remote to power on the device, change its audio input, change volume, and toggle different features. So you may have 1 remote for your tv, and 1 remote for this sound bar, as I do.

With this sound bar plugged into a TV: Turning the TV off and then back on will the sound bar become active without having to do anything with the remote. I've had other sound bars that would go back to a default input that was not the TV input and it was a pain to have to always reset the input.
Also does the sound bar hold the volume level settings when turned off and back on; when the TV is turned off and back on?

Hello!
I’ve had mine for several months, now, and I can safely say that it saves all settings when the unit is power cycled.
You WILL have to manually turn the sound bar on and off with the remote as it will not sync power with you TV.

Though, when connecting a Bluetooth device, I notice that the sound bar turns off on it’s own when I disconnect my Bluetooth device from it. Pretty cool.

I don't have an optical input on my TV, can I use the coaxial input with a coaxial cable directly from my tv?

Hey Bruce!
Unfortunately, this puppy does not come equipped with a Coax input/output, so a coax cable won't be the best route. 
For a TV without an optical out, you can still use the red and white analog ports on the YAS-203 and connect that to your TV. 
I have yet to see a TV without a composite I/O setup!

That depends on the TV's capabilities. Can the TV transmit via bluetooth or only receive via bluetooth? Your smart phone can transmit and receive for example. You can transmit your phone signal to the soundbar. Your TV would need to be able to do the same. The soundbar does not discriminate on where the signal came from, it only reproduces what it receives.

What's the difference between the "203" and "203BL"?

In Yamaha speak, a "BL" at the end of of an item code stands for "Black".  To my knowledge, the YAS-203 was only offered in black, so there would be no difference.
