How tall is it?

The box is 13 1/4 inches tall.  I have 2 of them hooked up to a Yamaha A/V receiver and they work well.  I really like being able to control the bass directly on the subwoofer...

Is it ok to leave the power on the subwoofer if you have turned off the receiver for long periods of time?

I have 2 of these and ran into the same issue, I had to put a wireless remote switch on both on mine. I noticed while they sit they still get warm, also with the poor power we receive to our homes it can damage the amp. The switch i use plugs in the wall socket for each speaker.

is this sub speaker wire or coaxial?

Both.  Input 1 from amp and Output 1 to speakers are wire.  Input 2 is coax.  No Output 2

Is a connecting cable included in the box with the Yamaha YST-SW216BL subwoofer?

No it is not included. There was a review where it said there was a subwoofer cable provided, but it does not have one. I bought regular speaker wire to hook the subwoofer up.

When connecting to input 2, can regular red/white RCA cables be used or is there specific cable needed?

Regular RCA red/white should do just fine, that's what I'm using now on mine for quite some time now

I have a Yamaha av receiver rx-v463.  Is this subwoofer compatible?

Would this subwoofer replace an Infinity TSS-450, 100 watt RMS amp with a frequency response of 39-20,000Hz (+ or - 3dB) ?
