Question 1

I have a Kguard 8 channel h264 DVR system and the DVR has quit working. It won't boot up any more. First, can that be fixed or is it worth having it fixed, or second, would this ZMODO DVR be an acceptable replacement for the Kguard DVR?

I have not worked with kguard in the past. What I have found with the units I have worked with is that zmodo is the best bang for your buck. It has all the features you need for a residential or entry level device and is sold at a very reasonable price. I would revvomned it to anyone looking for the basics.

Question 2

I have FOSCAM wireless IP cameras (not PoE). The cameras are connected via WiFi. Will they work with this recorder?

I dont believe so. This is and older DVR with BNC video input connections. This isba had wired system using coax cable

Do I need a hard drive for this?  And which one do I need?

You do need one and this unit is pretty finicky about what it will accept. Tried a few before i found one that works. You need a lower powered hard drive made for dvrs, or if you have a 5400 rpm laying around that would probably work

can you tell me were I can get a operating manual?

This is a 16ch manual but the setup is the same, if you check the Zmodo website you can find all their DVR information as well as manuals.  Takes a little searching, what issue are you having that requires a manual?
