5 out of 5 eggsDefinitly Worth it

This review is from: Targus APB25US External Battery Power Bank for Smartphones

Pros: Extra battery life for things that use charge by USB.

Cons: Just feels kind of cheap

Other Thoughts: As a filmmaker this comes in handy for when I want to lengthen the battery of my phone while I am using a lav mic for recording. It is really light weight so it wont be too much of a problem hiding it with the phone. I bought it when it was on sale for $9 so it was definitely worth what I paid for it.

2 out of 5 eggs

This review is from: Targus APB25US External Battery Power Bank for Smartphones

Pros: somewhat small, lightweight, comes with cables, led tells you current charge. leds indicate current charge is nice.

Cons: have to press button. Mostly typical chinese junk--long on hype but shot on delivery, lightweight-light duty, long recharge time, drained fast, i got only about 15% recharge on samsung s5 out of it while actively using my s5, so better to just buy an extra battery vs this darn thing. On the other hand, full re-charge to my sansa fuze while using so if lightweight duty and you want cheap on sale, then maybe okay. if you need heavy duty backup or recharge, look elsewhere.

3 out of 5 eggsBetter than nothing

This review is from: Targus APB25US External Battery Power Bank for Smartphones

Pros: Small size and convenience. Relatively cheap considering it's 2000 mAh rating. I got it free with my HP laptop battery.

Cons: I really wouldn't pay more than $15 for it. It's relatively weak with a 1amp charge rating. It only stores 2000 mAh worth of charge. Save your money and spend a little more for a 4000 or 6000 battery.

2 out of 5 eggsDoesn't live up to claims

This review is from: Targus APB25US External Battery Power Bank for Smartphones

Pros: Compact. Decent cord. Micro USB to mini USB adapter.

Cons: Advertising claims it will triple talk time on a cell phone. The Galaxy S3 has a 2100 mah battery. This device is 2000 mah so I thought it might nearly double, but not triple the time. After fully charging this, I plugged it into my phone. It charged the phone to 25% before being fully discharged.

Other Thoughts: It did charge the phone at a decent rate but the amount that it was able to charge was disappointing. Initially charging the Power bank on a USB port took 5 hours. After discharging it and putting it on an actual phone charger, it has been charging 5 hours and is only at half capacity. I'm returning it.

5 out of 5 eggsYou never know

This review is from: Targus APB25US External Battery Power Bank for Smartphones

Pros: Inexpensive
Works with my Nexus 5
Inexpensive again

Cons: Doesn't make me breakfast

Other Thoughts: Living in Missouri, I have experienced apocalyptic summer thunderstorms and Hoth style snowfalls and freezes. Our home phones are cordless, which means if the power goes out, our phones die too (which happened twice last year). I got this because I think USB backup batteries should be in every disaster kit now that many things like some weather radios and cell phones can charge via USB. Ambient Weather makes weather alert radios that can do this. I tested this on my phone and it works. There is nothing else to review here other than "it works as advertised." I got mine for $10 so I will cut it much slack. It is not the fastest thing out there, but it works.

4 out of 5 eggsBrand Name But Bulky for 2000 mAh

This review is from: Targus APB25US External Battery Power Bank for Smartphones

Pros: Works with all devices with mico-USB power input. After buying 3 distinct "brands", one of which worked well and 2 others were simply useless (I had a sample of 2 of each brand), I bought these as gifts for friends who needed reliable backup power. Targus is name brand and reliable.

Cons: Bulky for only 2000 mAh - the average smart phone battery is about 1600mAh, so it's not 3x the charge (the 4800mAh batter is 3x). The smaller "lipstick" and rectangle battery units rated at 2600mAh are smaller, but do not seem to deliver the rated power.

5 out of 5 eggsWorth the price

This review is from: Targus APB25US External Battery Power Bank for Smartphones

Pros: Got this on a black Friday sale for $14.99 and well worth it. About the size of an ipod and it is one of the better units for the price to charge my ATT Mifi, Samsung S4 and iPad 3. Light weight to take in my briefcase on biz trips

Cons: None so far
