5 out of 5 eggsHot Tip when purchasing

Pros: If you want to get Two SPF+ cables included in the price than purchase part# GS752TXSB100NAS.

This is the same switch, but with two SPF+ cables!. how great is that.

You can use the cables for stacking OR to connect to a server that you installed an Intel SPF+ card.

Cons: My only complaint is shipping from Newegg. They did not include any bubble wrap and placed the Netgear box inside another larger box but no packing material!!!

5 out of 5 eggsGreat replacement for Cisco Switches

Pros: Cost/Speed/Reliability/Ease of Use.
Very easy to trunk with any and all Vlans (if needed) to a Cisco stack of swithces. I used one of these at first to replace a broken Cisco after a power outage. No problems getting trunking to work with the existing Cisco stack of switches I have/ no problems with multiple Vlans / no problems with DHCP/ VERY FAST with the 10gig SPF+

Cons: Will not require any knowledge of Cisco or Cisco CCNE training. Can only stack 6 switches together via a single 20 GIG backplane (two spf+ cables per switch). This is not really an issue for my location since I have mutiple buildings and will not use more than 6 switches per building.

Other Thoughts: going FULL speed ahead with this product as my CORE. I currently have (3), 10 gig fiber modules in the CORE. And mutiple Netgears...phasing out the old pricey Cisco.

If you cannot afford a single chassis switch, this is the next best thing with a stack of 6 netgears:
You would get a 20 gig backplane using two SPF+ stacking ports per switch and still have (12) 10 gig SPF+ ports left in your stack for Servers / ESX boxes / and 10 Gig fiber to other buildings!

3 out of 5 eggsTwo major QC issues.

Pros: Four 10GbE SFP+ ports that can be used to stak switches or as server uplinks.

48 port GbE more than enough to support everything in my small office 25 users, plus servers and printers.

Cons: Quality control is not great. The first switch I received had two bad 10GbE ports and three loose screws rolling around insiode the case. The screws were th ones that secure the GbE modules to the chassis.

I RMA'ed with NewEgg and the replacement also had a loose screw rolling around inside the chassis, but all four 10GbE ports are working.

Other Thoughts: NewEgg immediately processed and RMA and once they received my switch, the replacement was shipped quickly.

4 out of 5 eggsWorks great, even for 10 Gb monitoring

Pros: Cheap, works well for 4 or fewer 10 Gb connections

Cons: Using 3rd and 4th 10 Gb ports for servers requires non-obvious configuration

Other Thoughts: I got this switch for combined 1 Gb / 10 Gb test network. I can send traffic between two servers at 10 Gb and monitor it on a third 10 Gb connection, which is what I wanted to do. It does this at much lower cost than other 10 Gb switch products.

In order to use the 3rd and 4th 10 Gb port, I had to turn off stacking on those ports and then reboot the switch. It wasn't obvious that you had to do this from the documentation or from the web interface, and it took me a couple hours to figure it out.

4 out of 5 eggs

Pros: Extremely fast

Cons: unable to get dhcp helper.. I trunked the port which the DHCP is located with no luck as per the other review.

Other Thoughts: I wish i could contact people with reviews to see how they fixed an issue.. dang newegg..

1 out of 5 eggsNot compatible with servers

Pros: 10Gb uplink capable. A ton of configuration options.

Cons: Connecting a switch should be easy. It shouldn't take more than one network maintenance window and multiple calls to tech support to find out that these switches do not work nicely with servers using multiple NICs. This switch was marketed towards business class use, but yet lacks support for a very common practice in any business that uses servers onsite to have multiple NICs for redundancy in servers. The lack of this feature make me regret having purchased these switches. Netgear tech support basically told me that this switch wasn't going to do what I wanted and that I should have purchased a more expensive managed switch from the GSM series of switches.

Other Thoughts: These switches shouldn't be called smart because they are exceptionally poor at switching.

4 out of 5 eggsHave 3 of 'em stacked

Pros: - 10 Gigabit uplinks
- Layer 3 routing
- Fast
- Lifetime hardware warranty

Cons: - Does some layer 3 routing, but somehow doesn't do DHCP relay. Really stupid on Netgear's part. Solution here is to trunk over 802.1q to your DHCP server, but this is just stupid to leave out of the feature set.
- No option for adding secondary power supply (even externally)

Other Thoughts: Include DHCP relay and you go to 5 stars. In my opinion, the DHCP snooping w/o the relay piece is out of place. I know they want you to buy a more expensive switch in their line, but I didn't need all that stuff. Just needed speed, 10 gig uplinks (we are using both fiber and the passive cable they offer), routing and dhcp relay. As I mentioned, I was able to work around the lack of that feature, but I shouldn't have to. Other than that, I'm really happy with the purchase and can't beat the price. Nobody else is close.
