5 out of 5 eggsFine

Pros: Installed in a MacBook Pro 13". No issues. Some reviews say it was loud but I can't hear it at all during normal use.

Cons: none.

1 out of 5 eggsReplacement is also bad

Pros: Have used these drives for 5 years as replacements. This batch of drives is bad.

Cons: After receiving the original bad drive, I decided to stress test the replacement WD Black drive. To my surprise, the replacement drive started clicking after 30 minutes. After a reboot the drive could not be recognized by the computer.

Other Thoughts: The replacement WD Black drive is also bad. There are no pros that can be written. I have ordered dozens of these and never had one go bad in 5 years. This batch must be bad. I do hard drive repairs and data recovery and suspect the first drive has a bad voltage regulator and this replacement drive has a stuck arm. WD better get their act together or the word on poor quality WD drives will spread quickly.

1 out of 5 eggsDOA

Pros: Never had a WD black go bad. Ordered many in the past for replacement dead drives. This is the first black for me to be DOA.

Cons: Dead on arrival. Drive could not be recognized. Received drive on 12/18/14.

5 out of 5 eggsNice little hard disk

Pros: When I buy notebook hard disks, or ones for enclosures (such as where this one is used), I look to WD Scorpio Blacks. For a reason.

1. Reliable.
2. Fast. ATTO has it at 120 MB/s Reads and 115 MB/s writes above the 64 KB file size over a USB 3.0 connection. This is about as much as you can expect from a 2.5" spinner.
3. Great warranty.
4. Not any more heat or vibration than any other 7200 RPM 2.5" spinner.

Cons: None. Well, it would be nice to see a single platter 1TB version some day...higher density platters=even better performance at the same spindle speed.

Other Thoughts: Using in a TekRepublic aluminum USB3.0 SATA III enclosure. Working out great!

5 out of 5 eggsNew Egg - Customer Satisfied !

Pros: New Egg replaced a defective drive ( most likely due to ups throwing the package onto my concrete porch ) without any hassle, fast and easy. I am back in business with a brand ive trusted for many years

Cons: UPS likes to throw packages, especially when they contain hard drives I purchase..... happened on more than one occasion.

Other Thoughts: Even when no fault of their own, newegg sought after customer satisfaction on many occasions with me.

5 out of 5 eggsWestern Digital Brand You Can Trust

Pros: Computer tech / repair business for 20 years. Western Digital was my number one choice for hard disk drives along with a now defunct company Maxtor. You could beat these hard drives to death and they would keep on ticking. I still to this day have some 250 mb drives and a 1 gb drive that run flawlessly. On the rare few occasions a drive did fail prematurely, there was no hassle in getting a replacement. Please note that some failures could be contributed due to the handling of UPS and not the fault of WD or Newegg. UPS has thrown on more than one occasion, my packages containing a hard disk drive and the end result was a dead drive.

Cons: The only only complaint I do have about the laptop drives mainly is the thin form factor blue drives parking heads an outrageous amount of times ( could be individual pc settings also ) and the black drive I have now, you can hear it. Obnoxious noise, no hardly........ could be the high rpm, but sounds like wind blowing. Other than that all is good !

Other Thoughts: Mechanical devices make sounds, but other than that as long as they do their job, western digital will be my top choice as compared to other S brands......
