Pros: The WD Caviar Black is a good hard drive. I've owned mine for about a year now and just bought a second one for content creation purposes. These drives, when I tested them, could reach up to 125 MB/s write speed (which for my purposes, is excellent). The performance is solid and the 5 year warranty let's you breathe easy.

Cons: These are not quiet drives - especially when you start to read/write a lot of data. Sometimes you can really hear that R/W head (the sound was bad enough that I was worried the drive was going bad, but it's still good), but if you have a solid HDD cage you'll probably hear/feel less vibration. Other than that, the drives themselves were also packaged pretty poorly when I received them from Newegg. They were in a small box, inside of an anti-static bag with nothing but an air bag wrapped around it. When I opened the box, the drive wasn't even wrapped around the air bag anymore, which worried me because it meant that a bumpy ride could have damaged it easily. Everything works fine, but a bit more padding next time would be appreciated.

Other Thoughts: Although they aren't THE PERFECT HDDs, they are excellent performers for the price, especially if you manage to get them on sale. I bought my first one for $90 and my second one for $70. I'd definitely recommend this drive if you're gaming, recording, etc. I've owned a Seagate Barracuda as well as WD Green and Blue drives, and they haven't been as solid as these WD Blacks, though those other HDDs were a bit quieter. I could comfortably recommend these drives to anyone though.

Cons: First drive arrived DOA. Not anyone's fault, it happens. Easily shipped back and replaced free of charge.

Other Thoughts: I often see people complaining about DOA hard drives, please remember you are buying a HARD DISK DRIVE. They aren't the most reliable form of storage, and they will from time to time be DOA. Most likely no one mishandled it, and newegg will ALWAYS accept DOA drives and replace them free of charge. Not a valid reason to give an item a bad review.

Pros: 1 TB storage, 6Gb/s at 7200RPM for $69.99(on sale.) What's not to love? Holds my files and games. I have my OS on a separate SSD for the sake of SSD speed. But this is a great bang for buck product and you get WD quality and assurance.

Cons: None. At time of review, 2 week ownership.

Other Thoughts: If you can find a better deal, go for it. But this on sale was the best deal at the time.

Pros: The package looks very secure, I got exactly what I wanted runs great.

Cons: Not sure if it was OEM, it didn't come with the original box from WD. Just a newegg box with free gum, but it was already chewed and stuck on the package. :(

Other Thoughts: Why the free gum?

Pros: After 2 years of steady use as the primary drive for my Mac Pro it continues to function perfectly and soundlessly.
I could not be more satisfied.

Pros: None, did not even last a year. Then, the replacement drive from Western Digital only comes with a 3-month warranty and not the 5-year I paid for and expected.

Other Thoughts: The WD black series has been well regarded in the past so I ignored negative posts when I purchased it 9 months ago. Western Digital needs to get it's act together before I buy one from them again. Very disappointed.

Pros: Western Digital provided good support and is sending a replacement.

Cons: Only lasted 9 months before I received a SMART status error and frequent Win7 popups saying that the drive is failing and to backup what I can. It hasn't crashed yet (2 hours of backing up to alternate drive) and I hope it makes it until the replacement arrives.

Pros: Approaching 1 year since I bought this HDD, it's still working fine without any issues.
