1 out of 5 eggsDon't buy this motherboard

Pros: There are no pro's. Gigabyte LIED when they made the user manual. My manual says the m/b accepts up to 16GB of DDR3 memory. It doesn't. They finally updated the online manual to show it only accepts 8GB. There is only ONE brand of memory you can use to use 8GB. All the rest limit you to 4GB. Ridiculous.

Cons: What a nightmare buying this board. I can't get the board to recognize standard DDR3 memory. It no longer is listed as being able to have 16GB of RAM, now you can only have 8GB and that is ONLY if you use the ONE brand/model they list on the their compatibility list. Ridiculous.

Other Thoughts: I will never buy a Gigabyte motherboard in the future. I can't get decent tech support. The place where I bought deny any responsibility and as a result I am extremely VERY MUCH dissatisfied.

4 out of 5 eggsSmall but good features

Pros: Has good features like hdmi port, 6 port audio for surround sound, dual bios, energy efficient its a Gigabyte the makers of the best motherboards.

Cons: Doesnt have a 1394 port but I bought a pci 1394 card for 15 bucks no biggie, only has 2 memory slots so it limits upgrading, only has 2 usb headers, good thing I only needed 2.

Other Thoughts: This is my 2nd Gigabyte motherboard, wanted to build a HTPC (with mid level components) for my bedroom and decided to go a bit cheaper with this one. This motherboard is not spacious but that is expected with micro atx. I accomated room by buying a coolermaster Gemini heatsink which is smaller in size but does the job, it's designed with room to accomodate the huger gaming memory. This motherboard works great, Im satisfied.

5 out of 5 eggsIncredible value and overclocker!

Pros: Core i3-540 running completely stable at 4.6 GHz (23 * 200 BCLK with Antec Kuhler 620). Running Crucial 1600 MHz DDR3 with relaxed timings (11-11-11-30-1T) at 2000 MHz. I have owned this board for over two years with no issues.

Cons: Price was mid-range ($89.99) and this board really doesn't have much of an upgrade path at this point now that LGA 1155 has become the mainstream socket.

3 out of 5 eggsNot a fan of tech support

Pros: This is a solid performer, compact and does everything it needs to at a reasonable price. Well, it did for about 11 months.

Cons: Things break, it happens. The HDMI out on the mobo no longer works. CPU works fine in other mobos, HDMI on the TV works fine with other PCs. VGA/DVI on the mobo works fine.

HDMI just isn't working. Sent it to Gigabyte. They waited 20 days and sent it back. No correspondence, no notice in the box of what was repaired, no comments from a tech, no nothing. Just a box with my mobo in it.

HDMI still doesn't work.

I'd love to email someone and tell them but I can't, because RMA notices are sent through a web form. In no way whatsoever does Gigabyte expect you to speak with a person.

Other Thoughts: I've got no problem with the motherboard, but tech support that won't even speak to you just feels a bit insulting. Looking for other options because from start to finish It took 41 days to get my (still broken) motherboard back.

3 stars for that.

2 out of 5 eggsfanboy gets bit

Pros: Nice looking, works well for up to 48 hours under full tilt load. I a big fan of GigaByte mobos. Have several, some of my G31s have been running full tilt with Q66s in them for years.

Cons: 2nd one just arc'd something near the regulators on the mobo. This is the replacement GigaB RMA'd for the prior one that just quit booting.

Other Thoughts: Problem may be particular to my usage in that I'm using i7-8xx quads with HT on and running 8 100% load tasks 24/7 (well, if they'd gotten to '7'). I suspect they'd be fine with less load. I replaced the first one with a P55 w/o issue. So I'd recommend P55 if you're going i7-8xx and will run it 24/7 under load. Lighter usage or i3 this mobo s/b fine. Need to talk to GigaB I think 2 of them is enough patience on my part. I want a P55 this time even if I have to pay the diff.

5 out of 5 eggsWorks great for a Whodows Home Server

Pros: Super easy assembly and installation. I used an i3 - 530

This is being used for a Windows Home Server (WHS) with 2 WD 1Tb green drives. I'm using the stock cooler - and the bios is showing temps around 30c.

Very - very quiet system.

Cons: I had a bit of a hard time finding a driver for the network connection. I ended up getting an XP driver (which is the same as used in Server 2003). That got the network connection working. The updates took care of getting the correct drivers for everything else.

The CD didn't have (or I could not find it) the driver that would work with WHS.

Other Thoughts: System is super stable - updating all my home pc's every night and hosting my webpage.

I put this together with some old spare parts. I actually got the M/B at a local retailer, but I did get the CPU, memory, and hard-drives from NewEgg which rocks as usual.

1 out of 5 eggsWARNING: Not PCI Compliant

Pros: It's small

Cons: Back of PCI slots are blocked. This means you can't use 64-bit PCI-X cards (such as the Adaptec 29160) in this mobo. This is a violation of the PCI specification.
