5 out of 5 eggsGreat Motherboard

Pros: This board is rock solid and has a ton of features! Running a i5 2500K with 8gigs of Patriot Sector 7 DDR3 1600 ram and it overclocks super easy by just adjusting the multiplier and bumping up the voltage a touch. Reached 4.7ghz without even trying.

Cons: If you use a bigger air cooler like the Thermalright Extreme 120 the fan covers up the #1 memory slot. Other than that I can't find a thing wrong with this board.

Other Thoughts: I wish they would put it back in stock!

3 out of 5 eggsFan speed control

Pros: Easy to setup. Well documented. Good feature set.

Cons: Lack of speed control on System Fan 1. See other thoughts.

Other Thoughts: This motherboard comes equipped with 4 fan headers: CPU_FAN, SYS_FAN1, SYS_FAN2, and PWR_FAN. Only the CPU_FAN and SYS_FAN2 have any variation in the speed. The other two fans run at *full speed* all of the time. Support indicated that this is because only SYS_FAN2 and CPU_FAN have 4 pin headers. Every other recent board I've used has had 3 pin headers that supported fan speed control. So, either get a fan with an external speed controller or plan on listening your fans. ALL OF THE TIME.

5 out of 5 eggsUSBs

Pros: Has tons of USB ports.
Has lots of SATA ports.
Overclocks 2600K i7 to 4.0Ghz with no issues.
USBs can be used for charging even when computer is off!

Cons: None

Other Thoughts: It's just a mother board with lots of ports really. Works great so far.

2 out of 5 eggsbottlenecks

Pros: It works

Cons: It's not fast in Bad Company 2.

Also, it suffers from that "infinite power cycle" problem. Fortunately the problem only rears its head every once in a while.

One time it was a serious problem that wouldn't let me even get into the BIOS, but I was able to take out the battery for about 15 mins to clear the CMOS and then it worked.

I had to take out the graphics card in order to get to the battery, so it's frustrating and annoying.

Every once in a while it will still get in a boot loop for like 4 or 5 boots before finally POSTing and proceeding with startup.

Other Thoughts: Look, I built 3 Sandy Bridge PCs at roughly the same time. All identical components except motherboards:
- i7 2600K
- Radeon HD 6850
- 8GB G.SKILL Ripjaws X Series (PC3 12800)
- Intel X-25M SSD (120GB)

The reason the motherboards are different was I got an ASRock mobo first to early adopt the Sandy Bridge. It has the SATA 2.0 data loss bug but that's ok b/c I don't use them.

Later when they came out with the B3 stepping fix, I bought 2 more setups. I would have gotten 2 more ASRock mobos but there were only an MSI and this Gigabyte board available on newegg.

Well the ASRock one benchmarks faster than both the Gigabyte ones on Futuremark 3DMark06 and in real-world play on BF:BC2.

The ASRock machine can play BC2 on full res on "High" mode completely smoothly, whereas the both Gigabyte machines need to be set to "Medium" quality in order to not have bad FPS. The game is literally unplayable on High quality.

1 out of 5 eggs

Pros: 1155

Cons: Silent mode is only for the CPU fan. The power/case fan speed cannot be controlled. How can you can it silent mode if you don't control 3-pin power/case fan speed?

Though it has a 4-pin SYS_FAN2.

5 out of 5 eggsNot SLI

Pros: Great board.

Cons: They don't clearly label if this board is SLI or X-Fire, you need to go to manufacturer to find out, had to rma this one for another that's not labeled.

5 out of 5 eggsAnother fine product

Pros: This replaced my original P67-UD3P borad which was recalled. I have only used Gigabyte for several years now. This board does not dissapoint. I just love it, easy to setup, USB 3.0 rocks, great support... What more can you ask for?

Cons: None...

Other Thoughts: Be sure to get the new LAN drivers from Gigabyte USA before the build and the network will take right off...
