5 out of 5 eggsForm, fit, function

Pros: Ample space to work given that it's a micro board. Layout was simple and made cable management easy when combined with the case I got.

Cons: Not really a con but didn't care for the coloring (shiny orange).

Other Thoughts: Plenty of screw spots to attach to case configurations so a few are placed a little close to surroundings when working in smaller cases but preplanning will easily solve that.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat MOBO For the Price

Pros: Tons of features for the price.

Cons: Minor flexing of the board when the CPU cooler was installed. Straightened out once installed on the case. BIOS is a bit underwhelming and the manual doesn't help too much. Otherwise nothing to complain about.

Other Thoughts: This was a replacement for a defective ASRock H97M Pro 4 board which died on me. This new Gigabyte board is proving to be a signfiicant improvement.

5 out of 5 eggsGo to for Ubuntu

Pros: I'm not familiar with the Windows issues that the below reviewers seem to be reporting. The board has exceeded my expectations when it comes to my linux install. I left my Linux OS intact on a Crucial 128GB MX1 SSD and moved my user directory to a WD Blue 320GB drive.

On first boot into Ubuntu all of the hardware was detected and anything missing was installed through an update which I had expected. Gigabyte's Linux support has always exceeded most other manufacturers.

If you're going with Linux expect no problems with support.

Cons: I don't have enough time I get a cup of coffee when I restart.

Other Thoughts: On first boot, I updated the BIOS to the latest Gigabyte had available and perhaps this is an explanation as to why I haven't had the issues of the other reviewers.

1 out of 5 eggsJunkBoard

Pros: NONE
Wish Intel would start making motherboards again!

Cons: Sata Connectors Fall Off. Poor Access to Sata connectors. Location on the board needed to be lower. Current location interferes with HDDs
Wont display a Sata 2, SSD as an option to be a bootable drive...REALLY???

1 out of 5 eggsVery disappointed

Pros: Unable to determine any

Cons: No frills board, no cables included, no front panel grouped jumper plug

Installation of Windows Server 2012 R2 and Windows 8.1 went great.

Once in Windows, I too was getting reboots like James S. mentioned. However they were coming in every few minutes to an hour in Server 2012 and about every 60 seconds in windows 8.1.

No peripherals installed (only 1 ssd) on-board everything, ran memtest86 on RAM i brought over from another PC for 8 hours, no hiccups in testing.

Opened ticket with gigabyte support and ordered an similarly priced MSI board from newegg.

Next day, received board, swapped this mobo out for the MSI one and installed windows-- has been rock solid with no reboots with 5 days uptime so far.

That's fine, maybe I got a bad board. But it was only today, 1 week later that I ever received a reply from Gigabye support.

Thats bad, but the questions they asked me were all answered in the original text of the ticket:

Does the crash happen at the same time DURING installation? reinstall windows... remove peripherals... user onboard video, check memory...

They seem to not even have read my ticket, thanks for nothing Gigabyte Support.

I soley have bought Gigabye boards previously but am thoroughly disappointed with my experience this go-around.

3 out of 5 eggsJury still out

Pros: Ultra Durable series. 4 memory slots. 6 SATA3 ports. GbE LAN.

Cons: Takes long time to POST. Then it may, or may not find the hard drive. When it doesn't a CTRL-ALT-DEL reset brings it to life quickly.

Other Thoughts: These motherboards should be advertised with recommended minimum power supply ratings. A 450W oem supply failed in first 48 hours. Replacement 430W ran but flakey. A new 650W Gold from EVGA seems to be stable. Yet online supply calculators came in as low as 230W for my needs.

2 out of 5 eggsGA-H97M-D3H error/rebooting

Pros: Board layout is good. no problems with initial boot. Always had good builds with Gigabyte.
kingston ssd
i5-4690
wd- 1tb hd
corsair vengence

Cons: Board is rebooting daily. Error messages seem to concern temperature monitoring system. Also getting memory error messages. Thought it was the SSD drive.

Board/bios does not seem compatible with Windows 8.1. OS on SSD. reboots in seconds, but annoying.

Rebooted system with Windows 7. Seems stable. If system is left on, error will show up in browsers. explorer, firefox and chrome. also errors in thunderbird email program. Shutting down fixes issues. Again SSD boots in seconds.

Have not tried updating bios. May be the next step.

Other Thoughts: Built another system with Windows 8.1 for my wife using a different brand motherboard. no reboot issues.

2 out of 5 eggsATX Wont Lock

Pros: Nice features
small form factor

Cons: ATX Power supply plug will not lock on, I have 2 Power supplies that do the exact same thing.
Seems like the slot will not let the plug go in deep enough to catch the lock.
Appears to be a Board issue and not the Power Supply itself
I have never had this issue in the 25 years that I have built desktops. Maybe 100 or more desktops built over the years

Other Thoughts: Check the fitment of the ATX Plug before you install

5 out of 5 eggsGood mobo, decent features, but not quite what I expected.

Pros: Good solid board, plenty of features for an inexpensive mATX at this price. Would recommend over other boards at the same price.

Cons: Was led to believe (not by any advertisement on gigabyte's part so no reduction in eggs) that this would work for low overclocks on unlocked chips via frequency multiplier adjustment. I just wanted to get maybe 3.8 or 4 GHz out of my g3258. However, this board struggles to keep that stable. I put the same chip on a friend's z97 gigabyte board and it was easily stable at 4.4 with 0.15 fewer volts. If you're thinking of getting a non-z board for any sort of overclocking, don't. If you only want to overclock by 0.4 or so GHz, just go for a different locked chip and then use this board.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat budget motherboard!

Pros: Great performer. Beware that Gigabyte has one H97 motherboard a few dollars cheaper that only has only one system fan and two memory slots.

Great tech support.

Cons: The drivers loaded flawlessly, but there's a lot of other bundled software that is either bloated or will slow your system down. For example, the AppCenter and its related optional "tweaks" automatically load on the startup, and slows things down. It does very little that cannot be done in the bios, like running "fastboot." My anti-virus, AVG, also sounded off numerous alarms that the software had viruses after I installed it.

Other Thoughts: Skip the temptation to load the optional software and you will be fine.
