5 out of 5 eggsGreat mid range video card

Pros: I love this video card. I highly recommend it, even to this day. Value and performance are outstanding. With a slight overclock, using MSI Afterburner, its the same as the 6870.

Cons: Its pretty loud on max fan speed, but I've only ever heard that while benchmarking, or testing an overclock. I use Asus' EPU power saving suite, and my tower is near silent. I've played TF2, Portal 2, BF3 Beta, and some others, and could max them all out, with minimum 30 fps.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat Unless it dies

Pros: Powerful, overvolts, overclocks, stable, good cooler.

Bought 2 of these at $120 each with rebate. Gets a 7.8 in WEI when running alone in x16 mode 7.7 in x8,x8.

Drivers get better with every month.

Cons: One of them died on me within 8 months and I'm about to call Asus, wish me luck.

crossfire with only 8 lanes for each of them hampers them slightly and the stock paste is terrible. It needs to be replaced to to make use of the great cooler. Then expect 1100MHz easily.

Other Thoughts: As another poster said, a normal overclock is 1000/1250 but this requires considerable overvolting. MSI Afterburner could do it but for some reason it wont detect voltage on my batch. It worked with the ASUS Tweak utility and I've managed 925/1250 but I cant overvolt as much as I want because of an artificial limit.

1 out of 5 eggsUpdate on Asus service

Pros: Worked for 16 months. Asus has a 3 year warranty. Worked great for WOW and STO at Ultra settings for first year. Now have to play on low-fair levels.

Cons: After 14 months started getting artifacts. Downloaded latest drivers and ran some tests. Everything is clean but didn't help the problem. Good luck utilizing the 3 year warranty when you cannot get a hold of a rep. And also what am I supposed to do without a computer while I send it in for repair/replacement if it's going to take 2-6 weeks?

Other Thoughts: I should have bought a cheaper unit from somewhere with a shorter warranty. That way I wouldn't feel so bad spending money on a new unit like I am now. My last open box AGP card lasted over 8 years and it wasn't Asus. I hope asus make a better motherboard and disc drive because that's what I have.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat Card

Pros: I bought this card around Christmas time for about 200 dollars(rather cheap really) and i was very much so surprised with the performance. This card runs all my games(Black Ops, BC2, L4D2) at max settings without any hitch whatsoever.

Cons: Honestly the only real con I can think of is the drivers, which now have more or less straightened themselves out.

Other Thoughts: This card is fairly large, so take this into consideration. Also, card is coooool, mine hovers at 35 at idle never more than 55 at max load, Running the fan at 90%(lil loud) doesn't bother me though.

5 out of 5 eggsOverclocks like a champ!

Pros: -Affordability
-Highest performance per dollar when OC'ed
-Low power consumption
-Heatsink easily removable to add own/better thermal paste

Cons: -Overclock limits low: Core 1000 MHz
Memory 1250 MHz

Other Thoughts: I removed heatsink by simply unscrewing the four screws on the back of the card. Then I scraped the waxy TIM (thermal interface material) off the heatsink and the GPU and cleaned it with rubbing alcohol. I applied Arctic Silver 5 on both heatsink and GPU and put back on heatsink. Using MSI Afterburner (free app can be used with any brand videocard, but can also use Catalyst Control Center as well) OC'ed core to 940 and the memory to 1250. I used 3DMark 11 as a benchmark for stability. Highest temperature is only 60 degrees celsius.

-i7-2600K Sandy Bridge 3.4GHz OC'ed to 4.8GHz
-Asus P8P67 Mobo
-ASUS EAH6850 DirectCU OC'ed from 790MHz to 940MHz
-CORSAIR CMPSU-750TX 750W ATX12V / EPS12V SLI Ready CrossFire Ready PSU
-OCZ Vertex 2 120GB SATA II SSD

5 out of 5 eggs

Pros: Cool, Quiet, High performance card. I was a bit leery to be purchasing another Radeon based card but this is definitely the exception.

Cons: None. I'll have to buy another to put in CrossFire :D

Other Thoughts: I was surprised to find out the HDMI output on the card also supports audio output. Makes things a lot easier when connecting to my 42" HDTV.

5 out of 5 eggsWARNING, HD6850 will not work with 2 VGA displays

Pros: fast, very quiet, well constructed, excellent graphics

Cons: One of the two DVI ports is incompatible with older monitors using VGA displays, even with a VGA-DVI adapter attached. You'll need at least one true digital monitor or an expensive VGA-DVI converter box to use two monitors at once. This is a hardware limitation of the AMD design and will affect other brands and models in this card series.

Other Thoughts: ASUS's rebate service sends Visa debit cards rather than checks for amounts over $10.

The fan hood overlaps the card's power connector a bit, but there's enough free space for the release lever from my Seasonic power supply's cord. Shouldn't be a problem for most people.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat Performance for the Money!!!

Pros: - Runs Call of Duty: Black Ops flawlessly at 1680x1050 with all Catalyst & game settings maximized.
- Temps stay <60C even after playing Black Ops for 1hr or more.
- Very quiet compared to the Geforce 8800GT it replaced.

Cons: Shipping seemed to take longer than I'm used to with Newegg. Could be because this card has been selling out frequently since it's such a great deal.

Other Thoughts: - Thought I'd give ATI/AMD another last ATI product was a Radeon 9500 purchased ~8yrs ago. I'm extremely happy with my decision so far.

4 out of 5 eggsStable, fast, but problems

Pros: faster than my 4850. plays Crysis and Call of Duty with no issues.

Cons: I get confetti looking mostly blue dots on my web pages when I scroll. No tech support at all from ASUS. Tried calling, tried the chat service, nothing. Included drivers caused my computer to lock up, had to go to AMD to get the good ones. Noisy while running hard, but they all are.

Other Thoughts: Took off an egg for lack of tech support.

5 out of 5 eggs6850 Price/Performace +++

Pros: This card Play all my games well on high settings this include (GTA 4, Age Empires 3,Resident evil 5-AVG 130FPS MAXED OUT AT 1680/1050),Call of Duty World at war

Runs real cool 44C idle 71CMAX on furmark (this is with my overclock of 900mhz/1135mhz on stock voltage) on stock runs at 33C idle and 69C maxed on furmark

uses less power then other 6850's because of the fan

only 1 power connector (even though might be limiting the OC)

129WATTS max compared to 160watts for the GTX460 faster as well

this is by far the quietest 6850 i found

Cons: Drivers(used 10.10E, and 10.12) still could be a little better, to tell you the truth its a lot better then it was a year ago

When you turn these cards voltage up it starts to get way hotter like 81C on just 1200 mV

Other Thoughts: these cards in CF is outstanding beats 5970 for 599$+ and even beats 460GTX SLI and 5850CF

6950 1GB card and 6990 is making nvidia walk on thin ICE!!

AMD Price/Performance CAN NOT BE BEAT!!!!!!
