4 out of 5 eggsBANG, BUCK.

Pros: Looks sexy as hell
Great performance
Combo deal
Programs and drivers
Plug & Play

Cons: The overclocking program included has a few quirks that need to be worked out.

Other Thoughts: Best bang for your buck, if you need a quick mid range gaming GPU, this is where it's at.

5 out of 5 eggsWorks as advertised

Pros: Compact, light and well built, sips power, decent performance, silent, easy requirements. Install latest drivers from NVidia rather than Asus' website.

Cons: Asus tweak UI software is a bit clunky and dated looking. While it mostly works, the UI could be smaller and more efficient. Not to mention it looks like the style en vogue 10 years ago. I'd recommend Asus to make the UI more efficient in screen space and use flatter colors to match modern windows themes more. But that latter note is personal taste I guess.

Other Thoughts: I do light gaming (LOL and TF2) with no heavy hardware requirements from my HTPC/audio content creation box. This box was built to be silent, with only 2 fans in the whole system, one on the CPU, and a case fan. It was built in 2012, and still today I can barely hear it when there is no noise outside. I have a 400W seasonic fanless PSU, and wanted to upgrade from the integrated GPU to improve frame rates in LOL, while not compromising the system quietness. Also, I was under obvious PSU constraints. This card fit the bill. It installed fine. Initial testing in LOL revealed my FPS went form 30 to 140 with all settings maxed out. The card is not especially taxed, either. GPU temps went up to 55c on average during game play, which was not even high enough to kick in the fans. I have them set to go in at 65. I did get them going eventually, though I saw them move but I could not hear them with my head 3 feet away. So mission accomplished. I have significant gameplay improvement, no extra noise and a small increase in power consumption. The GPU is VERY good at powering down when you stop taxing it. It clocks down and sips power. I haven't watched videos yet, but I suspect it would make a great HTPC card from what I've seen.

1 out of 5 eggsnot worth buying

Pros: really haven't had any good things come from this card

Cons: It will not let me play a lot of my games that i have, i'm very disappointed with this video card, and it doesn't have a power cord that you can connect to it so it took me a while to realize that the fans only spin when it overheats. i wish i could return it and buy a better one.

Other Thoughts: dont waste your time and money with it.

4 out of 5 eggsHad problems booting at first, but works fine now

Pros: Quiet operation!

Plenty of VRAM for my needs (playing Kerbal Space Program).

No need for additional power cables.

Cons: I had some problems getting my system to boot at first on my Gigabyte Z77-D3H motherboard when this was set to the primary display (and there was no monitor attached to the onboard video output). Not sure what I did, but after attaching a monitor to both the onboard output and this card, things seem to work so far, even with the monitor removed from the onboard output and after a reboot.

Getting the Linux drivers to work required some fairly advanced knowledge of Linux troubleshooting. That's not a criticism of the card or the drivers, just of the packaging of the most recent driver package for Ubuntu (a repackaging of the nVidia drivers to make them easier to install/remove/upgrade -- which it does).

Other Thoughts: Haven't tried a 4k monitor yet, but will soon.

So far, performance is perfectly adequate for my needs playing Kerbal Space Program, which tends to be CPU-bound rather than GPU-bound.

5 out of 5 eggsBudget card done perfectly

Pros: Low-wattage card using NVIDIA Maxwell architecture.
Performs as intended: 1080P gaming at medium/medium-high settings.
Great choice of outputs: DVI for legacy, HDMI, and Display Port for newer 4k (not that you can really game at 4k with this card but a media PC could do fine).
Driver installation was extremely simple.
Zero Db fan tech is legitimately one of the best things Asus has brought to the table.
No PCIe power cables needed means easy installation and less cable clutter in your case. this means better airflow and a cooler case overall.
This card overclocks like a champ.

Cons: Without PCIe power, there's only so much you can do with this card in terms of OC-ing. Not saying that I care, most people won't I don't think; but there are other cards that you can get higher overclocks with because of the access to more power. I'm not taking an egg off for that. For my uses, this card is perfect.

Manufacturer Response:

Dear Valued Customer,

Thank you for posting this review and I understand that you're frustrated and disappointed with the unit and I want to help you fix it. It's unfortunate if you think the "Product" is a huge disappointment. On the contrary, there are lots of very satisfied customers that are having positive experience using the product. Can you please do a system restore to revert to last known good coniguration then install all windows recommended updates before using the system. If this step won't work please email me at customerloyalty@asus.com and put case # N150213440 in the subject line for your reference.

ASUS Customer Loyalty are dedicated in providing positive customer experience.

Thank you for trusting ASUS.

Best regards,

5 out of 5 eggsGood Performance with low-power / noise

Pros: No need for external power cable makes easy upgrade option even for older systems. Temperature controlled fans don't spin at all when I'm in Windows - meaning one less noisy fan when I'm not gaming.
Software to monitor/control seems solid - not really messed with it much or tried OC settings yet.

Cons: Only issue I've had was the HDMI output would occasionally black-screen for just a second. The actual DVI output on my other monitor didn't flicker at all, even when the first one did. Not sure if it's the card, the HDMI to DVI cable I have, or the monitor. It was very* rare (I'm a gamer so I'm fairly intolerant of that happening but it's so infrequent (a few times in a long game session at max, but not at all in the last week or two) that I've not tried harder to diagnose yet. I didn't deduct an egg since it was rare and I don't know where the problem really is yet.

Other Thoughts: One of the best cards you can get if you want low power and low noise more than you need the absolute top of the line speeds. The fans that spin down to "off" was what I paid a premium for - there are a lot of computers in my office and I work to keep my computer background noise to a minimum. I don't know where the threshold is, but any serious game will cause the fans to spin up. Still not loud, though, since this uses little power, it generates little waste heat, so the fans have an easy job of it especially in a well-cooled case.

If you like this hybrid passive + temp control fan concept, I highly recommend Seasonic's line of gold+ PSUs that do the same thing. Mine runs so cool that the fans never turn on, and the exhaust port collects dist from my case fans drawing air IN through the power supply vent. Down to just the CPU fan and the Case fans when not gaming.... keeps things quiet!

5 out of 5 eggsGreat Card

Pros: The card is quiet, stable, and does what I need it to do without any complaints.

Cons: None.

Other Thoughts: I bought this card because I wanted something that didn't make any noise, yet would not be hamstrung if I needed it to do something more demanding. This fit the bill perfectly. I would gladly buy it again. Asus makes nice equipment and this was no exception.

5 out of 5 eggsBang for the Buck

Pros: -Quiet
-No Power Connector
-Powerful for the Cost

Cons: Wish it was SLi

Other Thoughts: For the money this is a jam up card. I haven't had any problems with it. Runs quiet most of the time but you can hear it gear up when you stress it. Noise isn't a factor for me. I love that it doesn't require any additional power connections. Makes for a clean setup.
