5 out of 5 eggsSurprisingly powerful card

Pros: Energy efficient, excellent for a small case, surprisingly powerful for a card that does not require a 6 pin power connection. Plays Battlefield 3/4, CoH2 perfectly.

Specs:
Intel Core i5 6600 stock
8 gigabytes DDR4 2100 RAM
MSI GTX 750
Windows 10 Home

Cons: It looks weak but it's not.

Other Thoughts: 30 dollar rebate brought this card down to $75.00, the purchase was a no brainer

1 out of 5 eggsCan't play 4K video, rebate rejected

Pros: * Doesn't crash (usually)

Cons: * Playing 4K video stutters a lot. This is with H.264 and the latest drivers. The CPU is idle, so it is using the hardware decoding correctly. I got this card for a media PC, so it's almost a total waste.
* My rebate was declined. Still waiting for support to explain why. They have a picture of the barcode and serial number and then claim it wasn't there. What a nightmare.

Other Thoughts: Don't count on the rebate, and don't expect 4K video support. It does support the resolution for running Windows, but you can't do much with it otherwise. This has been one of my most disappointing hardware buys ever.

Manufacturer Response:

Dear Trey,
There is "no" known issue with our MSI video card. If you have any question or cocern regarding our MSI video card you purchased, Please do not hesitate to contact us directly by email at usreview@msi.com or by phone at 626.271.1004 M-F, 9AM-6PM PST. We will be more than happy to assist you.

4 out of 5 eggsQuality Graphics for 55 watts? It's true.

Pros: Great performance for less than 55 watts? Yes, it's true. Well designed with a large heat sink. Very cool and quiet card while gaming as well. Many of my favorite games run 60+ fps @ 1080p using performance and quality settings.

Cons: Backwards compatible? Yes, but slow boot up time on my older PCI 2.0 motherboard. The long boot time was alarming at first then the operating system sorts out PCI 2.0/3.0 stuff then loads normally works fine and passes all tests. Runs stable and system scans show its operating at PCI 2.0 speeds on my 5 year old socket FM1 motherboard.

Other Thoughts: This graphics card was an ideal upgrade and performs 3x faster than my older, louder, hotter graphics card. I expect this card will work even better after upgrading my 5 year old motherboard to a PCI 3.0 compliant one.

5 out of 5 eggs

Pros: Been using this card for over a week now and it's running strong. It's paired with 4g ram, Intel Celeron gen 4. Runs WoW/LoL ultra perfectly fine. Also running Win 10 pro easy. Drivers installed easily. Couldn't ask for more. Also great it runs off the PCI-E port no additional power from the PSU needed. Best for budget build.

Cons: Haven't had a con yet.

4 out of 5 eggsGreat for low end build

Pros: Best budget card for low end gaming. MSI cards are the only ones I buy these days.

Cons: This is an entry level card, don't expect to be running high end games with it.

Other Thoughts: MSI is my favorite for GPUs.

1 out of 5 eggsGood when it works

Pros: Low power consumption. low noise, good performance, Linux and CUDA compatible.

Cons: After about 3 months started to show artefacts all over the screen. I am guessing memory failed. Unfortuantely cannot return since I used rebate.

Other Thoughts: After some thinking decided not to buy this model again, instead replaced with different brand.

Manufacturer Response:

Dear Valery,
Thank you for the feedback and sorry to hear about the issue. Based on the symptom you reported, we suggest you check following steps below since many reasons can cause the situation like this ,

4 out of 5 eggsGTX 750 Needs 20 Amps on 12 V Rail

Pros: Easy to install
Compatible with an older mobo with v1 PCI-e
Supposed to be configurable.
Very Quiet single fan.
Reasonable price with rebate.

Cons: Description claims it only needs 500 watt PSU - omits the 20 Amp requirement. My old 500 watt PSU could not handle it and kept crashing the computer. Had to upgrade the PSU, too. = added cost.
Takes two slots on the backplane.
Rebate is a pain.

Other Thoughts: This looked to be a good upgrade for an old Nvidia graphics adapter that was not compatible with Win10 (no driver support from Nvidia) running with an older ASUS mobo and had just had the fan fail. GTX750 was touted as low power needing a 500 watt PSU which my old case had. Omitted was the need for 20 amps on the 12 volt rails. Each time I tried to install the drivers, the computer would abruptly shut down requiring a reset of the UPS as well. Web research led me to the conclusion that the PSU was inadequate. [ I could not return it to Newegg because of the rebate requirement to Remove UPC (I hate rebates).]. Only option then was to upgrade the PSU which did the trick. Also got a PSU tester which showed old PSU (6 years old) was probably on last legs anyway. Now with the new PSU the board is functioning like it should. Next have to play with tweaking it a little. Knocked off an egg due to inadequate statement of power needs.

The rebate arm of MSI has yet to acknowledge receipt of the rebate form mailed Sep 1 while another Newegg rebate from a different company was rapidly processed and was received in just three weeks. Jury is out on the rebate part of this.

5 out of 5 eggsInstalling Nvidia 352.41 Driver-Ubuntu 14.04

Pros: Good:
1- Card is running fine I just wanted to see what MSI had to offer on my "bogus" BSOD issue :) Yeah I test ALL manufacturers' tech support!
2- As it has been posted many times over: price vs performance the GTX 750 can not be beat
3- W/10 drivers work fine AND Nvidia recently released a NEW Linux driver, which is very very close in graphics quality/FSP speeds of MS (See other thoughts)
4- Silent cooling fan
5- Maximum temp I have seen is 44C...ildes @ approx. 28C

Cons: The stinkin bad:
1- MSI's reply on this site to my "bogus" issue left out one BIG solution: clearing your motherboard BIOS & doing a clean install of Nvidia driver
2- Like to see a 2 GB DDR5 256 bit w/ 55 max power draw @ same price LOL

Other Thoughts: Currently the latest stable Nvidia driver for Ubuntu 14.04 (Linux) is version 352.41 and here is how to install it via terminal commands one at a time assuming you are already using a Nvidia card:

sudo apt-get remove nvidia*
sudo add-apt-repository ppa:graphics-drivers/ppa
sudo apt-get update
sudo apt-get install nvidia-352 nvidia-settings

Close terminal & re-boot pc

This is best offering from Nvidia as of yet for Ubuntu 14.04 (Linux) and the gap between graphics quality & FPS speed is dwindling between Linux & MS. This is a great card & I shall only update this review as newer Nvidia-Linux drivers become available. Feel free to copy n paste the terminal commands from this review.

This is best offering from Nvidia as of yet for Ubuntu 14.04 (Linux)

5 out of 5 eggsBest card for Budget Build

Pros: This is hands down the best card for a budget build. Check the Passmark Benchmark site. It is rated @ 3244. Great for 1080 p gaming at medium settings.

Cons: OK it's no Titan but what do you want for the price, it can't be beat.

Other Thoughts: MSI makes great GPU's and are my #1 choice.
