1 out of 5 eggsThe worst video card manufacturer

Pros: Absolutely nothing.

Cons: Where do I begin? First of all, the reference fan is loud under load, which wouldn't be a big deal if the card actually worked properly. In less than a week, the card failed (it began displaying lines/artifacts on screen).

I sent the card to PowerColor for a warranty replacement (and of course I had to pay out of pocket to send their defective product). About a week after they received it, a Raymond Hsu tells me they can't honor the warranty because the card's fan has been opened, which they determined based on a loose screw they found inside. Ignoring for a moment that the problem I sent the card in for was unrelated to cooling, I never opened, modified, or otherwise tampered with the fan. I'm unclear whether the fan had a loose screw from the factory or if their customer service is simply lying in order to weasel their way out of honoring the warranty but I absolutely did not do anything to void my warranty.

I insisted that I had not tampered with the card in any way but of course I was basically called a liar and they haven't even mentioned whether or not they intend to return the card to me. So now I'm out the original purchase price, the cost of shipping to RMA the card, and have no video card, working or otherwise.

It's bad enough that this is the 4th RMA I've had to go through with PowerColor in the last 6 months but now they're not even standing by their shoddy products. I know PowerColor cards are often found here for cheaper than comparable cards but it's not worth it. Their quality control is absolutely terrible and apparently their warranty is hit or miss. Run, don't walk, away from the next "deal" you see on a PowerColor card.

Other Thoughts: It's also worth mentioning that, even if they do honor the warranty, they're painfully slow about it. Previous cards I've RMA'd took considerably longer than usual to get a working card back. If your card fails, you can expect at least a one month wait until you receive a [hopefully] working one back.

1 out of 5 eggsNot happy with Powercolor

Pros: Card works fine, but powercolor is probably one of the worst companies to deal with now that I have been on the phone with them numerous times, and no one seems to be able to give me a straight answer. See Cons:

Cons: This card was sold with a $30 mail in rebate, which I followed the instructions to the letter, as well as reading all of the fine print. I have copies of all of the documentation, and I followed everything perfectly. 12 weeks later, I have not received my rebate. I called powercolor to ask about it, and they said my rebate has been disqualified because the rebate number is incorrect. I am reading them the rebate number FROM THEIR OWN REBATE FORM, and they are saying it is invalid. As such, they are not going to honor my rebate. This is the lousiest customer service I have ever received from any computer manufacturer. 6 years ago, I purchased a mainboard from them, when they were still called TUL inc. The same thing happened there too, though I didn't follow up as much, assuming I had done something wrong. Now I know they are shady and just not honoring rebates the save a buck. I will never buy anything from this manufacturer ever again, nor will I recommend this company to any of my friends and associates.

Other Thoughts: If you look at the price of a powercolor product, and are ok with the pre-rebate price, you are fine. Just don't expect to receive a rebate from powercolor, EVER.

4 out of 5 eggsLove the performance

Pros: Performance for the price is top notch.
Reference layout so aftermarket cooling is easier to find, although I prefer the stock blower style cooler.

Cons: None really except for the quality control on the one card as mentioned below.

Other Thoughts: Bought one card, and it is sort of flakey when used by itself when it has the full 16 lanes of pci express 3.0. If I put a card, any card, into the second slot in my motherboard (dropping the lanes available to this card down to 8x) then it works fine. So I just went ahead and bought a second card, problem solved. The second card does not have the same issue. Maybe I'll look at an RMA when it gets close to the expiration of the warranty, but for now i am ecstatic with the performance of my system.

I was able to overclock the GPU to 1100 mhz and the ram to 1200 mhz without voltage increase on both cards without a problem. Gaming for hours without any lockups.

The 3dmark score with two cards in crossfire is equal to a geforce 780ti. That's the same performance of the $750 top end geforce card for around $300. Yea it uses more power and makes more heat and more noise and I don't have room for expansion, but saving $450 is totally worth it.

I am maxing out all possible settings on tomb raider, including the tressfx on 1080p monitor and it runs great.

Both of these would get 5 eggs, except for the issues with the first card.

3 out of 5 eggs

Pros: this graphic card is really good, runs very smooth with my computer

Cons: if this is OC prepare for take off because you now have a jet engine in your computer and another thing, did the slow process of mail and rebate when i bought this, did all the required things signed up online , mail all info. Weeks later email them and it turns out not qualified. THing is when i signed up online i had to have model number, well they never gave me the option for my model, the best option was 2DH and i had M2DH making this not a viable option to even receive my rebate. even asked friend who is a big tech guy and agreed that was my best chance. Well got email declining me and when i told them about my issue they ignored me so beware of its mail and rebate

5 out of 5 eggsExcellent value

Pros: Very good value
Excellent overclocking potential
Very good performance
Appealing color scheme

Cons: None

Other Thoughts: I purchased this card for a water cooled gaming build aimed at playing Eve Online. To which I'd add, the card has no problems whatsoever doing. I was also very satisfied with this cards performance driving a 30" LCD monitor at 2500x resolutions. Though my biggest surprise was just how well this card scales in terms of overclocking when watercooled(A++).

Aside from that, the stock red trims on the card look quite nice in windowed systems.

Excellent value, would recommend to anyone looking for a good price/performance gaming card.

3 out of 5 eggsDecent card for good price

Pros: One of the lowest prices for 7870 I have seen. Perfectly capable of running the latest games at max settings with 30 FPS.

Cons: Being a reference design, the cooler is unbelievably loud under load. The temperatures sky rocket with even the slightest over clock. This card has very little futre proofing unless a replacement cooler is installed.

3 out of 5 eggsOut of stock/discontinued everywhere!?!

Pros: never owned the card but heard a lot of good things about it.

Cons: never owned the card but heard a lot of good things about it.

Other Thoughts: I was really upset when I came to buy this card today, but then I had a rude awakening when I found out that every website that sold this card yesterday and had them in stock just suddenly stopped selling them all today. I looked everywhere for this card and this is the only place that was listing this card. Not even e.b.a.y. sells the card (and that's scary). I have also looked for this card on the A.M.D. website and It's not listed on there either. I really wish I could have gotten this card.

2 out of 5 eggsLooks great, but was DOA

Pros: Looks great.

Cons: DOA. System wouldn't POST with the card in. Swapped PSUs and GPUs to confirm it wasn't something else. Hopefully the replacement will work!

Other Thoughts: It really is a nice looking card.

5 out of 5 eggsexcellent

Pros: everything runs great. performance is wicked on BF4 ultra at 50 fps..... picked up a second card for crossfire, and i must say this exceeded my expectation.

runs bf4 in crossfire at 110fps average. no overclocks. and trust me these cards can overclock. lots of headroom stable at 1200/1300 when overclocked, can go higher ive heard.

Cons: none, just set the fans at 40% your good to go.

Other Thoughts: i wish i could get a 3rd but 2 is all g.
