Based on the cutting-edge 28nm GCN architecture, this card is built around 2048 stream processors, and an enormous 6GB/384-bit GDDR5 memory - the world’s first for a consumer graphics. It delivers mind-boggling performance for multi-screen gaming as well as demanding professional applications, such as content creation, video editing, and video rendering.
The boundary of performance can be further pushed by EZ Boost Button; it increases the GPU clock frequency to extract more performance for smoother game framerates. The Vapor-X cooler is based on a new vapor chamber design, and delivers exceptional thermal performance you can rely on – even during extreme load conditions. This card has built-in onboard LEDs for easy monitoring of the PCB’s temperature with just a glance.
EZ Boost ButtonBy default, the Vapor-X HD 7970 GHz Edition 6GB runs at 1000 MHz and dynamic boosts to 1050 MHz on the engine, with the memory clock at 6000 MHz effective. Simply press the EZ Boost button: the base clock is increased to 1050 MHz with a dynamic boost to 1100 MHz on the engine. The fan profile and power tune limit is also changed to performance settings.
Blue Power+Blue Power+ consists of many premium designs: an 8-phase power design for the GPU VDDC, 1 phase for the VDDCI, and 1 phase for the MVDD. It also includes a brand-new double-sided Black Diamond Choke, Directfet, and a 12-layer PCB to ensure the board runs fast and stable. In lab tests, the brand-new double-sided Black Diamond Choke 4 reduces the temperature around the power design portion when compared to the reference PCB design.

It provide s quiet and very cool operation under normal operating conditions, and superb cooling performance – even under extreme loads.
Black Diamond Choke and Full Solid Cap DesignChoke is an important component of the graphics card. By working with the component engineer, Sapphire’s exclusive choke is 10% cooler and offers 25% more power efficiency than a normal choke. The graphics card will be more reliable and will save energy. Improved reliability and better overclocking are possible by using only high-polymer, aluminum capacitors. These posses far superior characteristics than regular aluminum capacitors, and provide for a longer product life. When operational temperatures drop by 20°C, the product life span is extended by a factor of ten; when the operational temperature increases by 20°C, the product life span only decreases by 10%.
