5 out of 5 eggs Follow up to last recent review

Pros: I run it at 1176 mhz not 1076 mhz which i posted last, i mixed em up a bit heh. Knew 1076 didn't sound right. Just read the last review and instead of where i put 1076 mhz keep in mind its actually 1176 mhz it runs great all stable as described in the review.

Cons: None

Other Thoughts: It is a graphics card :)

5 out of 5 eggs Great for HTPC

Pros: Overclocks. Got it to 1076 mhz (1.07 ghz) nice and stable, haven't tried to get past this yet. And trust me this is stable i run it at full 100% load for like 8 hours, no crashes, no hiccups, no overheating, it runs smoothly, and perfectly fine. Memory clock is upped by about +130 mhz, core is upped by about like +123 mhz or something like that i don't have exact numbers. Some fps numbers are over 100 fps on Minecraft with all settings maxed out (AF, Graphics, Rendering Distance, and so on...), about 30-40 fps in Battlefield 3 with med-high settings (tweak and play-around with em a bit), with all choices set to high in Grand Theft Auto IV you can see to get 20-35 fps which is alright i mean it wouldn't be that large of a difference between 20-30 and 30-50, for me at least, turn it to medium if u want a good 30-40 fps, i find high looks a lot better in GTA IV, Minecraft 1.7.2 with low-med settings and GLSL Shaders mod with Sildurs Vibrant Shaders Pack Ultra no-DOF runs at 15-40 fps.

Cons: None, thankfully

Other Thoughts: Installed in a Dell Inspiron 660, Microsoft Windows 8 x64, stock 300w psu works great, with an i5-3330 3.0 ghz quad core cpu, 8gb ddr3 RAM, 2tb HDD, and latest Nvidia drivers. Might try out a GTX 650, just for lols i ran cuda miner on this card with the 1076 mhz overclock and some tweaked settings i got 96 kh/s which is meh. It was just something to try out. If you didn't know this graphics card is basically in a nut shell a GTX 650 with half the bandwidth hence half the buswidth 128 bit vs 64 bit both GDDR5, there is also a common GDDR3 version of the GT 640, with the GK 107 GPU, this one is the GT 640 Rev 2 with GDDR5 instead of GDDR3 and a GK 208 GPU instead of GK 107 which is the same as the GTX 650 who gots GK 107 with GDDR5 on 128 bit bus. Think of this as a GTX 650 with 64 bit bus (half the bandwidth) and with a GK 208. I haven't the slightest idea the difference between GK 208 and GK 107. This card also has high end compute capabilities (3.5). I'm not too familiar with GTX 650

5 out of 5 eggsBought two

Pros: Replaced HD4830 which used 110 watts. This is the Nvidia GK208 core with gddr5 which runs faster than original GT640. Reviews say its very cool and efficient- only about 40 watts. My case temp is down and so is my electric bill. 3Dvantage benchmark improved by 50% over HD4830.
The other card upgraded a dual core AMD system with 350 watt PSU. Very small card which uses very little juice.

Cons: Price a little higher than radeon competitors.

Other Thoughts: Zotac Firestorm utility overclocks and adjusts fan speeds. I'm running core at 1151, mem at 1298. Content with mild overclock, have not pushed it to the limit at all. Good watt vs performance ratio.

4 out of 5 eggs Pretty good card...but,

Pros: I would say this is an overall ok card. It will run a lot of modern games on medium and somewhat high settings with about 30-40 fps average, now that may be considered unplayable but medium on most modern games will get about 40-60 fps. I ran Call of Duty Ghosts with this exact card on about medium-high settings and got a playable 40 fps. This card uses Nvidia's GK208 GPU not the GK107 GPU. It has a memory bandwidth of 40.1 GB/s not 80 GB/s which is featured on the OEM GK107 GT 640 GDDR5. The G/Texels are pretty low and the Fill rate is also pretty low. This card is inferior to the AMD Radeon HD 7750 GDDR5 with a 128-bit bus. This card has 64-bit bus which is sad because even though its GDDR5 it equals 128-bit DDR3 which is on the older GT 640. Minecraft runs great on this card with fully maxed out settings. I had adaptive v-sync on so i got a constant 60 fps while playing Minecraft which is enjoyable for me. The Radeon HD 7750 GDDR5 128-bit is a much better choice if u want more fps.

Cons: This card does NOT equal the GeForce GTX 650 due to its 64-bit bus width even though it has GDDR5. It is merely just merely an increase compared to the 128-bit bus width of the DDR3 version of this card. I can't really think of any other cons right now other than that it kind of kills the point of having GDDR5 if they are going to stitch a 64-bit bus width to it. I guess if it had GDDR5 128-bit it would be the exact same as the GTX 650 which i couldn't get because i had no PCI-E power connector and so they wouldn't be able to sell a lot of GTX 650's if this card came with 128-bit lol. Kind of sucks that AMD has the be card for people in situations like me. I was just testing this card hoping it would beat the HD 7750 but nope.

Other Thoughts: I guess i should have went with the HD 7750. I would recommend this card ONLY, ONLY!!! If u need specific NVIDIA features like PhysX or CUDA or other things like that. If u want the best performance for old pcs with no PCI-E power connectors like me HD 7750 GDDR5 128-bit is the best choice.

5 out of 5 eggsBetter card than HD 7730

Pros: New GT series cards run much cooler and with less power. Old GT 630 needed 65 watts and scored 730 on Passmark 3D Mark. The new GT 640 only needs 49 watts, scored 1380 on 3D Mark, and ran 40C degrees cooler.

Cons: Little pricey. Slightly higher than HD 7730.
