5 out of 5 eggsRemote works with Media Center

Pros: Remote does work with Windows Media Center.

Cons: Range is limited. And the tuner needs to be faced in the right direction.

Other Thoughts: Remember to always follow the directions. The directions for setting up the remote for Media Center are included. They are on the flip side of the directions.

5 out of 5 eggsInstalled without a hiccup or hitch

Pros: Works in Windows 8 Pro. Easy install and setup. It even came with a remote control of which I was not aware it would. Thanks Newegg for the fast delivery. Ordered on a weekend and used 4-7 day free delivery at no cost and I received it today. Yahoooo :)

Cons: It could have come with a slightly longer USB cable, but that is not a biggy. :)

Other Thoughts: Make sure you have the latest software for this before you attempt an install. Just put the CDRom into your optical disc drive and then run the downloaded install program. This way you have the latest drivers and software installed.

5 out of 5 eggsawesome tuner

Pros: HD, ATSC Qam, Clear Digital Qam, Analog, Composite, SVideo inputs, small and compact, USB 2.0, works with Windows 7, windows 8 media center.

Cons: The software.

The Hauppauge software (WinTV) is complete and utter junk. If you loose the original CD for instance (which I have) you cant just download it from Hauppauge's site. Nope. you have to buy it again because they use CD Emulation and do not use serial number activation or any of the normal methods. In fact, you have to insert your original CD (Not burned or copied) every time you update the software. Since Media Center will NOT access the video input channels (composite or Svideo) I have to use the Hauppauge software.

Other Thoughts: This TV tuner is great. no issues with it at all. Well worth the money for sure. I've used it with Windows XP Media Center Edition, Windows 7 x64 Ultiimate, Windows 8 x64 Pro and have had zero problems.

Just keep in mind though - if you have Comcast - you will not be able to get any channel except the free local HD channels. Comcast encrypts most of their channels as of a few years ago. (I live in the Portland, OR area)

Other than that, its a great tuner. does fine via the airwaves, and unencrypted channels. You might want to pick up a amplified HD antenna if you are going to use it for over the airwaves.

1 out of 5 eggsDidn't Work

Pros: Portable, comes with extension cord and antenna.

Cons: Generates a lot of heat. Very unstable operation.

Other Thoughts: It crashed my system every time computer went into sleep mode. Tried reloading all drivers and WinTV software but could not solve the problem. Also, I could not safely eject the unit unless I manually disabled ehRecvr.exe using Task manager. It could have been a defective unit and I had the option to ask for a replacement, but considering the slow response from Hauppauge and the fact that the unit gets very hot as attested by other customers, I opted for a full refund instead.

5 out of 5 eggsHauppauge USB TV Tuner

Pros: Great little item...hooked it up and Windows downloaded the driver amost immediately...fabulous picture over channel master antenna.

Cons: None

Other Thoughts: I had an ATI All-in-Wonder PCE tv tuner which turned out to be dicey right from the start. So far the Hauppauge usb stick is working very well

4 out of 5 eggsWorks great on both Windows 7 x64 and Windows 8 x64

Pros: Small and portable
Antenna and remote control included work great
Works well in Windows Media Center
Drivers and software easily downloaded from manufacturer website

Cons: IR port on only one side for the remote, needs better placement/dual sided placement.

Remote control doesn't work in Media Center as far as I know.

Other Thoughts: You have to use the CD to install WinTV (mine came with a recent version disc), most of my computers do not have disc drives anymore so I had to improvise and make an ISO.

4 out of 5 eggsI wish I bought it sooner

Pros: This item does everything it is advertised to do. I hooked it up to my WD live Hub and it found more stations with the included antenna than my TV did with a $129.99 Spectrum Digital antenna. It took longer to get the device out of the box without destroying the box than it did to be up and running.

Cons: The box was a pain to open.

Other Thoughts: I would like to have seen an HDMI input/output on the stick, but for $69. U can't go wrong

5 out of 5 eggsWorks great!

Pros: This little USB stick works amazingly well! I hook it up to my desktop PC and my Macbook Pro 2010 running Windows 7 Pro 64 bit bootcamp. Works flawlessly with Windows 7 Media Center. No drivers needed for install of the hardware - just need to run a small installer app to get the remote to work. Very pleased. Will be buying more of these for future HTPC builds.

Cons: None.

5 out of 5 eggsWorks Great

Pros: Win7 x64 automatically detected and installed driver. I simply plugged in the adapter, opened Windows Media Center and checked to see if a tuner was detected (and it was). Clicked my way through the setup menu and was watching Over-The-Air digital TV in about 10 mins. Built-in WMC program guide works great. So far this adapter has been working far better than I expected. Records TV easily while using WMC recording functions. Never had to install ANYTHING from Hauppauge, in order to watch OTA digital TV.

Cons: The price of this thing is a little spendy if you ask me.

Other Thoughts: I haven't yet tested out the Hauppauge drivers, or the WinTV software...and I doubt I ever will. The fact that I was able to rely ENTIRELY on the built-in capabilities of Win7 x64 and Windows Media Center to get what I wanted, I don't see any reason to install the manufacturers stuff. I see all the other reviews here and can't help but think their problems are brought about by installs of software/drivers that are not even needed. I suppose if you're using a version of Windows that does not include WMC, then the CD might be of use. But if you're using this on a Windows based HTPC, then I can't see any use for it.

5 out of 5 eggsWorks Great

Pros: Works great. I've used this with both my OTA antenna without issue. I've most recently used it to get my locals over my Comcast cable Internet-only subscription via Clear QAM.

Cons: Remote is pretty crummy, from what I can tell the Windows drivers and software arent great. It does get rather hot, but nothing I'd be worried about considering how hot some cable boxes get.

Other Thoughts: I use this with Linux + HTS TVHeadend and also have used this with VLC. Works great under Linux. I'm able to stream my local stations to my XBMC boxes without issue.
