5 out of 5 eggsHere's the deal

Pros: Lets you connect your basic cable TV to a spare monitor for use as a TV.
Has a remote
Displays channel and volume on screen
Auto adjusts resolution
Cheap
This may be a new/updated model?

Cons: None yet

Other Thoughts: The best use for this device is to convert a spare monitor to a TV if you have cable in your house that can be used without a tuner.
To test: unplug your coax from your cable box, plug it into a tv, do you get channels? (only up to 99) if so, this will work.
I put it in my son's room paired with a 19" LCD Monitor, works great and the speaker is fine for a bedroom or small room.

4 out of 5 eggsIt does it well

Pros: Picture looks great on a 22" dell monitor.
Quick and easy, it does what its suppose to do.

Cons: The speaker is worthless.

Other Thoughts: This works well for what it is. I had an extra monitor and hung it in front of the treadmill. Hooked up the cable, plugged in the audio to a radio. Ran a few miles without missing any football games. This was a great quick solution to boring workouts without spending a ton of money.

1 out of 5 eggsNice Idea-Poor Implementation

Pros: The PIP feature was nice. The video dynamic range was better than the Geniatech. Best of all was cables NOT coming out the front!!

Cons: Died after a year. Would not pass tuner video to the display, only PC video. And the video quality was horrible. Smearing and ghosting the worst I've seen since I began display design 35 yrs ago. If you need to power this device down, do NOT pull the DC plug from the back. Remove the adapter from the outlet instead. This design has very poor overvoltage/transient suppression on the low voltage power feeding the tuner.

Other Thoughts: I am so frustrated with the lack of quality in stand alone tuners I've decided to go back to LCD TVs with external I/O connectors. Even the external tuners cost upwards of $150 are junk.

2 out of 5 eggsJust Alright

Pros: It was able to read my cable signal and still output to a decent VGA signal.

Cons: It's really really cheap feeling. I pulled it out of the box and though, gosh don't let the dog touch it.
The Video-Out component is now failing me after about 6 months of use.
Most channels have a very loud, very high pitched whine to them.
I've yet to be able to use the PiP.
The remote is hilarious.
There's no screen on the device. You can't actually see what channel you're on.

Other Thoughts: The setup I bought this for:

I'm in a college dorm, and thus don't have a cable box. I bought a projector instead of a TV during my freshman year. The only problem with a projector is that there's no tuner in it. I thought at the time I'd like something to go from cable to VGA. I've since, however, bought a surround sound system for my house and have the TV running through that. I'm using the video out, or was trying to until it began failing. I can watch one or two channels on it, before I have to switch over to VGA - which just doesn't look as good.

I wouldn't say this is a "quality" product. Before you buy it, consider how soon you'll have to replace it. I'm looking to replace it now. I think spending more cash upfront for a more solid solution is a much, much better idea.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat little tuner...

Pros: -Audio Out disables worthless built in speaker.
-Great picture quality.
-Good menu options for sizing display.
-Fast set up, works right out of the box.
-Much smaller than I expected (I thought it would be an eye sore on the desk, but it looks great)
-Remote is nice.

Cons: -Audio is inconsistent and doesn't translate well from channel to channel. Some channels have a high pitch tone ringing in the background.

Other Thoughts: Bought it to watch cable tv in bed from our computer monitor. Perfect just for that. Nothing too fancy.
I have my computer running to the DVI input on a 24" Samsung display, and this tuner running into the VGA input... It's easy to toggle them back and forth.

4 out of 5 eggsWorks Fine

Pros: I was hoping to find a name brand device but this is all I found. No problems however as it works fine. I replaced a 19" crt television with a 22" LCD I wasn't really using. The picture is great (on dish network) and all the functions seem fine. I used the external audio port to hook up a set of Altec speakers which works very well. Setup is quick and painless. I haven't played with inputs other than the coax or the pip feature. The menu has quite a bit of selection and I like the sleep feature which is more of an alarm type shutdown instead of a timer...ie you set the time for it to shutdown instead of minutes until off. You can also set the option for once or always. Additionally, there is a wake time as well that will bring the system on if you so desire. Volume control works with external speakers which helps tie everything together.

Cons: The construction seems a bit cheap as well as the remote but I don't have enough time on it to see how it holds up. Menu navigation can be a bit funky. The onboard speaker is worthless...unless you didn't have a speaker.

Other Thoughts: Like I said, I normally would go for company with more history behind it but this works like you would expect and makes a nice TV out of an unused or cheap monitor.

3 out of 5 eggsDoes what I need it to.

Pros: Works.
Channels come in clear.
Has remote.

Cons: There is a delay between channels when changing them.(-1)
Menus system could use some work.
Unit is kinda light for a vga cable and a coaxial.(-1)
Remote is kinda cheap.

Other Thoughts: Overall for what I was expecting in this tuner, I am pleased. I took eggs for the inconvenience due to the weight and size of the box, causing it to slide around, and the severe delay between channels.

4 out of 5 eggsWorks great

Pros: works great, 4 stars due to sleep timer not really a timer, rather a turn off time. Hooked to directv dvr, picture quality is on par with slingbox solo picture running at full speed on a 1280x1024. Haven't tried pip yet.

Cons: Wish directv remote could support volume function on this unit. Sound coming out the speaker blows, guessing it'll be easy to blow the little speaker in it.

Other Thoughts: Decent price, wasn't expecting the world out of this thing.

3 out of 5 eggs

Pros: Turns an unused flat VGA monitor into a usable TV screen. Easy to use and hook up.

Cons: I hooked up a standard cable line it found all the channels except one. tried to finetune it in with no luck. Picture is good for SD.

Other Thoughts: Box should not say HD this didnt upgrade anything to HD you would have to have HD for it to be HD.

4 out of 5 eggsThis Tv tuner

Pros: Plug and play... picture quality is awesome unless you run it thru your PC, it isn't as good but still decent.

Cons: Manual book is no help... No sabrent hotline to call when i had an audio issue. Not HD... and it gets too hot... when you run it thru ur pc youll see the quality difference on your pc and tv... still easier to manage when thru there if you are turning your pc monitor into a tv.

Other Thoughts: Great to get for turning a casual monitor or your pc monitor to a tv/pc.
