An important tip from one of our users: don't just check total power output, find out what you need in the way of current on each power rail. If you need 20 A on your +12V rails and the supply only has 15A, it doesn't matter how many watts the supply puts out: don't buy it. Make certain that you have ENOUGH rails, too: sometimes, you need more than just two +12V rails for your setup.

Replacing an existing power supply is easier: just get a replacement that meets or exceeds the specifications of the old one. (You can usually find those printed on the side of the supply.)

That said, here's a power supply that is compatible with most ATX format motherboards, puts out 575 watts of power (see specifications for exact distribution) at a great price. Could this be your next power supply?

1 out of 5 eggsBad combo

Pros: low cost

Cons: 8 pin PS cable barely makes it to the connector, on the Biostar MB. It goes right across all of the expansion slots so if you needed to add a PCIe card it wouldn't fit at all.

5 out of 5 eggsgamers perspective

Pros: price , can't beat it.

I thought this would be a LOT cheaper made then what it was.
I was pleasantly surprised, it's isn't made of the usual thin "tinny" stuff , this is actually decent metal,
Also worth mentioning ; the cables are long and have the 4+4 and 20+4 ends so you can use it on any mobo.

Cons: none

Other Thoughts: I bought this for my backup gaming rig so I was looking for a deal , I certainly found one.

1 out of 5 eggsGarbage

Pros: None

Cons: Very cheaply made.Mine worked but it would randomly shut the computer down and it wasn't even pulling but maybe 200 watts because I have an APU so I wasn't even using a dedicated graphics card and this thing still couldn't handle the load at only 200 watts.Save yourself the money because this thing is not reliable and if it does work correctly it wont work correctly for long before it goes out.I fixed my problem by buying a 500 watt Thermaltake PSU and it runs fine now and I am running a GTX 660 with the Thermaltake. So my advice is spend 20 more dollars and get a better PSU and save yourself the money you would be wasting on this Piece of you know what.Anyway I have learned my lesson don't buy cheap Power Supplies this is a part that needs to be of good quality or your whole system will be unstable.

Other Thoughts: Do Not Buy This

5 out of 5 eggsWow. It has been four years.

Pros: Wow. It has been four years since I've purchased this back in 2010 and it is still going strong.

Very cheap
Long Lasting

Cons: Loud
Short 4-pin

Other Thoughts: Have not tried SLI and I probably wont. I feel like the end of this PSU is near even though it has been four years. But it is still going.

Using it to power an old build with a HD 6850 in it.

2 out of 5 eggsDied, just over a year.

Pros: Worked fine, until it died. Had an 8 Pin connector.

Cons: Died after 14 months, warranted for 12 :(
Started getting small shocks from the speakers, chassis, etc the week before it went out. Figured it was just dry/winter/static. But now I think it was the PS.

Other Thoughts: Cheap. Worth a chance in a non critical system, for 20 bucks, I guess. I've regretted buying a cheap PS every time. This was no exception. Buy a good quality PS.

4 out of 5 eggsStill going

Pros: It still works, it didn't cost very much, single rail, doesn't seem to put out much heat. Runs every day and night for long hours. Six months later and still chugging along.

Cons: might make a little noise but not any worse than the other 4 fans in my sons PC. I took a egg off because it's not so great and it makes me a little nervous knowing it could do damage to the computer if it burns out.

Other Thoughts: I was on a super tight budget and I put my faith into this one and it's been ok. I think it was under 25 bucks with shipping or maybe it had free shipping at the time, don't remember. I am getting a better one soon and this should make a great spare for when the next high priced "quality" PSU just quits on me.

4 out of 5 eggsGood for Price

Pros: For the price it works great. Powers my older pc with two 8800 GT video cards, dual core CPU and single hdd and DVD drive. Fan noise is normal.

Cons: Minus one egg for cable length. Might not reach in a taller tower.
