An important tip from one of our users: don't just check total power output, find out what you need in the way of current on each power rail. If you need 20 A on your +12V rails and the supply only has 15A, it doesn't matter how many watts the supply puts out: don't buy it. Make certain that you have ENOUGH rails, too: sometimes, you need more than just two +12V rails for your setup.

Replacing an existing power supply is easier: just get a replacement that meets or exceeds the specifications of the old one. (You can usually find those printed on the side of the supply.)

That said, here's a power supply that is compatible with most ATX format motherboards, puts out 575 watts of power (see specifications for exact distribution) at a great price. Could this be your next power supply?

3 out of 5 eggsOk psu...

Pros: Has the power you need when it works.I have two from 2012 going strong after 3-4 years. The fan is a bit loud on one, no problems with the other.

Cons: Ive had five of these the last two 2015 models were defective. Ether weird noises or thermal shut down issues.

Other Thoughts: Save the money get something else the quality isn't what it used to be.

2 out of 5 eggsSmokey Death

Pros: It worked for 4yrs

Cons: Died one night, woke up to the smell of burnt electronics.

Other Thoughts: Bought it for my roommate. I did have BOINC running when not in use, so I wonder if the 100% load killed it?

2 out of 5 eggsLow/medium performance

Pros: If all you intend on doing is desk work on it, by all means, this power supply fits the bill

Cons: if you are playing any games that requires extra power draw, it is risky. I have had my computer crash multiple times due to this issue and I fear it has caused permanent damage to both my primary SSD and my back-up HD.

2 out of 5 eggsNOT FOR GAMING

Pros: Price

Cons: Very low end power, bought for my new gaming rig bad IDEA, . It runs great while I'm playing COD Black Ops 2 , Just got mad max and It shuts my PC off every 10 min. Probably good for an office PC but not for gaming. I have a Radeon R7 370 R7-370P-4255 4GB 256-Bit GDDR5 video card needs lots of power.... DON'T BUY GAMERS if you cant afford better don't but at all.
