5 out of 5 eggsOne of the best PSU's I have ever owned!

Pros: I bought this PSU 7 years ago for a basic WoW-computer and this PSU endured heavy use as a gaming computer for 6 1/2 years and finally being retired to a home movie server before it ran another 6 months before finally dying.

This product has definitely changed my mind about the overall quality of Cooler Master and their products, I will definitely be buying the new model of this exact PSU!

Cons: None that I can think of.

5 out of 5 eggs

Pros: Used in a media server that runs 24/7 with no issues for about a year now. 100w CPU, 16GB DDR3(2 x 8GB), SATA DVD drive, 1 x 500GB SATA III HDD, 5 x 2TB SATA III HDD.

Cons: Not enough SATA power connectors so I had to use 4-pin adapters. Still works good though.

4 out of 5 eggsDied

Pros: Quiet. Worked well while it worked.

Cons: Had it for 2 years and 7 months. no where near the 100,000 mtbf. It died quietly, and cooler master just said I was out of luck, which is understandable. Would be 5 eggs if it had kept working. I'd personally reccomend one of cooler masters more expensive models.. Better caps and such make an unfortunate death less likely.

Also, extremely tight sata and molex connectors, and most of the cables are shorter than you'd want them to be, I would think.

Other Thoughts: I buy cooler master for everything I can, and this isn't the first time the product has failed to meet my expectations. They usually break convienently right after the warranty, though.

5 out of 5 eggsGood quiet PSU

Pros: This is a decent power supply for the money. I got one for my main PC and so far I am quite happy with the way it has performed. The fan is very quiet, which is a big plus for a machine that in on most of the time. For the price, this is hard to beat.

Cons: The only thing I don't like is the fact that not all the wires are sleeved. This is not the biggest deal, but neatness is cool. Physically this power supply seems to be a bit small. Even though it does not fit as snug as my last one, once secured in place it is fine.

Other Thoughts: For the price this is an excellent value and it has been running my PC nicely. NewEgg delivered it fast too!

5 out of 5 eggsTight Budget? Low to mid-rnage build? Got you covered.

Pros: I picked up one of these to replace a dead PSU in an older mid-range build used buy a family member (see specs in "Other thoughts"). I have used other Cooler Master PSU's in other builds and I have yet to have one fail, they are all still going strong.

This PSU may not be 80Plus certified, but for low to mid-range single GPU builds it should have no problems delivering the power needed to run the system.

Cable length is fine for most all ATX mid-tower cases, though it may be a concern for some larger ATX full tower bottom mount cases, especially for clean cable routing behind the motherboard tray.

Cons: Not 80Plus certified, however for the price and the target consumer, this is not really a con.

Something to keep in mind if building a mid to high range gaming machine with higher end hardware that may require a guaranteed power delivery efficiency to maintain a long term stable system. Cooler Master makes other PSU's to fit such higher end needs.

Other Thoughts: AMD Phenom II X2 550 Dual Core
Biostar T-Series AM3 Motherboard
8GB DDR3 A-Data 1600
HIS Radeon HD 4870 Turbo

For most modern single GPU builds requiring a single or dual 6-pin connection, running a dual or moderate quad core, this PSU should be just fine. It may have the connections to handle dual 8-pin on a single card or single on two cards, but this is not the level of PSU you would be looking at for a high-end power hungry modern gaming GPU, or a multi-GPU setup.

In the other budget oriented builds I have used these, or similar, CM PSU's in, I have not had any problems. Running anything from Phenom II dual to quad core, a few Core i3 builds, and an A8 Richland dual core. Pretty much nothing over 100W TDP on APU's, or 85W TDP on CPU's, and you should be fine for the long term.

2 out of 5 eggsLiar-label

Pros: Not this company's worst. Quiet when working (but see con).

Cons: All you really need to know about this overrated unit can be found in a 4/8/2010 review at HardwareSecrets. Unfortunately I had made the mistake of buying one some years ago before reading that. Although nowhere near stressed, its original fan croaked within a couple of weeks. A replacement fan I installed in it (be VERY careful about working in a PSU!) also died shortly thereafter, so I junked it.

Other Thoughts: Although advised about the overrating (and other issues) of most of their older units, CM has indicated it is unwilling to remove them from the market. That's consumer fraud, but there's no longer accountability for that, so do your research before buying a PSU.
