1 out of 5 eggsVery disappointed

Pros: - Seems to have good build quality
- Extremely quiet, fan didn't come on once as my system never drew more than 100 watts

Cons: - Failed after 2 days of very light use
- In the process of submitting an RMA but due to NewEgg's policy, I apparently have to wait for a round trip (i.e. they need to receive and process the item before sending a separate one)

Other Thoughts: Seems to be a DOA item should be replaced immediately, if you don't get the broken one back you have my VISA...

5 out of 5 eggsSILVERSTONE SFX ST30SF

Pros: One of the best quality 300w power supplies I have come accost. First its small SFX. Its silent with the fan running. Yet it does not turn on until you are at a full load for quite a while. I ran Prime95 for 20 min before it came on and the fan only ran for 10 sec then shut off. It also comes with an adapter to fit a standard PSU mount.

Cons: Price. Its defiantly not cheap. But its worth ever penny. If I need another SFX PSUY I will definitely buy again. Then no worry's

Other Thoughts: When It comes to power supplies you do not want to cut corners. You coould get a $25 SFX PSU but then when your having problems with USB ports and boot times then you will doubt yourself. Its not worth it. Get the best

4 out of 5 eggsquiet, mostly silent

Pros: Hybrid design means the fan only kicks in once the psu goes over 100W. For a low power HTPC, this effectively means a fanless psu most of the time but with a fan backup if needed.
Build and packaging are high quality. The included bracket adapter was a nice touch.

Cons: Cables are short. In a Silverstone ML03, the atx power cable was too short and I had to flip over the psu (with the fan up) to make it reach. I'd noticed this in a review so I wasn't surprised, but most people probably won't expect this.
Also, only 3 SATA power connectors. I needed a 4th, but a molex-SATA adapter works fine.

1 out of 5 eggsDOA x2

Pros: None

Cons: The first one I got was DOA. The second one I got was also DOA.

Other Thoughts: One egg because 0 not an option. What's to like?

Manufacturer Response:

Hello,

First off we would sincerely like to apologize for any inconveniences that you have been having with the ST30SF PSU. We understand that it can be extremely frustrating to build a computer, and then realize that there is an issue with a component that you drastically need. With that being said, we actually believe that there might have been a misunderstanding of the situation and the product features on the ST30SF. On this PSU, it includes a feature called Semi-Fanless mode, this means that unless if the PSU is hitting 41 degrees Celsius, the fan will not be spinning. Once the thermal sensor does read that it is exceeding this temperature limit, the fan will start and cool the PSU. Hopefully this clarifies the issues that you were having with the ST30SF PSU.

If you are still facing issues with the unit, please do get in contact with our support team and we would be more than glad to assist you with overcoming the issues that you are facing.

Please use the links below to contact us if needed.

Best Regards,
SST USA Support

3 out of 5 eggsBuzzing Noise!!!

Pros: 80-plus standard Bronze
and semi-fanless
price

Cons: Not modular

Other Thoughts: Blew my mini-itx build by installing this completely before testing. Originally buzzing sound was no louder than Noctua CPU fan with ultra-low noise adapter or two Noctua case fans with PWM and low noise adapters. Over the last couple of weeks, the buzz has become about 3 dB louder than anything else unless I access my D drive (4TB Barracuda XT) which smooths out the overall sound and I can no longer here the buzz (although it is there still).

1 out of 5 eggsDoes Not Work In Kevari Combos

Pros: Can't find much.

Cons: Per the manufacturer website, the PSU is designed for Micro ATX, Mini ATX and Not Full ATX cases.

The Keveri combo comes with a full ATX case with the PSU mounted on the bottom of the case. The main motherboard connector is approx 1.5" too far away. As well as the DVD burner connector you have to stretch it to reach, using the end connector. There is NO way to make this PSU work in this combo.

5 out of 5 eggsFeeds i3s with ease and in perfect silence!!!

Pros: 99% of the time the fan never goes on, and I'm stressing this baby out hard!!

I have one feeding a i3-4130, and also one feeding an i3-3240. I don't game on them, but I have them doing everything else, including running several virtual machines. All using the stock coolers and SSDs, so literally my computers make no noise whatsoever.

Did you hear that? No noise!! It's super ideal for Media Center PCs, Homeservers, NAS Boxes, or just sweet sweet silence while you work!!

Cons: none

Other Thoughts: It even comes with a metal bracket for fitting into cases with larger Power Supply holes.

NOTE: The fan is "small" by today's standards, but if it never spins, then it's quiet by its very nature, don't let that scare you away from this brilliant little bugger!

As with any Power supply purchase, look for a Power Supply Calculator so you know exactly how much juice you need and buy one about 20% stronger.

4 out of 5 eggsSolid

Pros: -Quiet
-Small form factor
-Powers my computer!

Cons: Cables are cheaply sleeved/not modular.

Other Thoughts: Gave 4 eggs out of 5 but if I could I would have given this power supply a 4,5/5. Only reason being that the cables are a bit on the cheap side, but I knew what I was gonna get before buying.

5 out of 5 eggsAmazing powersupply

Pros: Amazing powersupply overall. Has all the requirements to run a high end system with the complement of a mid-high end gpu depending on the power consumption. Sfx form factor makes it ideal to build in small chassis.

Cons: not all the cables are sleeved. Not visually appealing if you are into that kind of stuff.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat PSU for SFF cases

Pros: Price and build quality.

Cons: Doesn't have modular connectors but you get what you pay for.

Other Thoughts: 300W for my application was way overkill for my application. Note what JTB3 mentioned in his/her review: the power supply fan does not operate until a particular load is reached. This could be a positive or negative depending on your perspective. I have an i3-4130T with only an SSD and HDD. Highest draw is 48 W when stress testing with linpack. 48 W is not enough to cause the fan to come on.
