1 out of 5 eggsNot so sure...

This review is from: EVGA 120-G1-1000-VR 80 PLUS GOLD 1000 W 5 yr Warranty Fully Modular NVIDIA SLI Ready and Crossfire Support Continuous Power Supply

Pros: - Packaged neatly.
- Fan lit up.

Cons: - Defective

Other Thoughts: I bought this PSU for my new build. I tested it with the test cable that was provided. The fans received minimal power and could hardly turn. I then tried powering the motherboard, but nothing would happen. I tested my motherboard and other components with a separate PSU and everything worked fine (minus the video card due to the fact there wasn't enough voltage from the 500w PSU I plugged in.) I'd be happy to give this product a better review once I receive an item that is not defective. Currently in the RMA stage.

1 out of 5 eggsNot well

This review is from: EVGA 120-G1-1000-VR 80 PLUS GOLD 1000 W 5 yr Warranty Fully Modular NVIDIA SLI Ready and Crossfire Support Continuous Power Supply

Pros: Came in shape, all wires organized nicely and with nice cable ties.

Cons: It came not working. Any time it'd use a certain wattage, it'd reboot the system.

Other Thoughts: If it worked, I'd recommend it.

2 out of 5 eggsWorked for almost a month.

This review is from: EVGA 120-G1-1000-VR 80 PLUS GOLD 1000 W 5 yr Warranty Fully Modular NVIDIA SLI Ready and Crossfire Support Continuous Power Supply

Pros: EVGA replaced it quickly. Can't really complain about their customer service. However...

Cons: I had this power supply for almost a month before it began having unsteady voltages. EVGA replaced it no problem. However, it did damage my main hard drive. The hard drive doesn't even spin anymore. I can use the same exact plugs on my slave drive and it will work fine. I was not having hard drive issues before the power supply problem. So I now have a $3000 door stop until I replace the hard drive that the power supply damaged. Not me.

What I am getting at is, I am going to be spending $100+ on a new hard drive. Which is around the cost of the power supply. I am having to spend money because a product that is under warranty damaged another component in my PC. That is just unacceptable in my opinion.

Manufacturer Response:

Dear Ben S.,

1 out of 5 eggsDead PSU

This review is from: EVGA 120-G1-1000-VR 80 PLUS GOLD 1000 W 5 yr Warranty Fully Modular NVIDIA SLI Ready and Crossfire Support Continuous Power Supply

Pros: Looks cool, comes with a power supply tester that verified it was dead

Cons: Came dead, never spun on fans or worked in any way

Other Thoughts: Too big to be a paperweight

5 out of 5 eggsOverall a Great PSU

This review is from: EVGA 120-G1-1000-VR 80 PLUS GOLD 1000 W 5 yr Warranty Fully Modular NVIDIA SLI Ready and Crossfire Support Continuous Power Supply

Pros: Super Solid. Didn't fry out when my mobo was having bios issues and had to hard start and restart over and over again. came with a loop for the power/ground so you can check the PSU itself. I had to RMA one and the process was a synch. +rep

Cons: Cords are a cheap hard plastic/rubber. some color cloth options would be legit.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat PSU Love EVGA

This review is from: EVGA 120-G1-1000-VR 80 PLUS GOLD 1000 W 5 yr Warranty Fully Modular NVIDIA SLI Ready and Crossfire Support Continuous Power Supply

Pros: - Great price with rebate for a Plus Gold rated 1000w supply.
- Modular (even though this is basically the standard now, still love it cause I remember when it wasn't!)
- This PSU is considerably lighter and smaller in size than my last 1000watter
- Comes with case and rubber feet if you choose to mount externally
- Looks good

Cons: - Cables are a bit wide but it is the G1 model so if this bothers you buy the G2.

Other Thoughts: Bought a lot of PSU's over the years from very low quality to top shelf and EVGA always puts out great products. Unless there is great sale on another brand reputable brand, I will continue to buy their PSU's and graphics cards.

1 out of 5 eggsEVGA PSUs are definitely NOT on top.

This review is from: EVGA 120-G1-1000-VR 80 PLUS GOLD 1000 W 5 yr Warranty Fully Modular NVIDIA SLI Ready and Crossfire Support Continuous Power Supply

Pros: 1kW of continuous power delivery.
80Plus Gold efficiency which is negligibly lower than Platinum. (2%)
All cables are ribbon with no sleeving and all black.
Has two pure 6-pin connectors so no dangling 2-pin most other PSUs will have.
I can't test PSUs the same way other sources can, but it's EMI noise and ripple are extremely tight by the standards of those sources.
I can safely say even with ultra cheap headphones that love playing all the EMI noise coming from your PC; I hear no EMI noise from my PC. This is impressive.
^The above is a C&P from my previous review:
"EVGA PSUs are definitely on top."

Cons: Only two possible complaints:
1; The fan grill isn't supported by ANYTHING so don't try to hold the PSU by that or it'll bow inward.
2; The afore mentioned 6-pin connectors are not dedicated. They split off from their primary 8-pin in an extremely LONG parallel that I had to loop twice to get it looking reasonably clean. Seriously, it's about 4" (75mm) long. It should've only been long enough to swap which side of the 8-pin it was on. I can think of only one scenario where you could connect two devices on one cable, and that's extremely obscure and too ridiculous to mention.
^The above is a C&P from my previous review:
"EVGA PSUs are definitely on top."

Now for the third complaint:
It spontaneously died less than 9 months later.
My PC shuts down while not being particularly stressed, does not power-on with the power button. I turn off the PSU itself for ~30 seconds and when I turn it back on my system begins to power-on. Now I have mouse activity power-on enabled in my UEFI, so not strange it would immediately power-on. About 10 seconds into power-on I hear a crackling and sure enough sparks and flames are literally shooting out the back of my VRM heatsink. Turned off the PSU again and began the wonderful process of playing "find the part that failed" with my available collection of working parts while considering both the motherboard and in kind the CPU potentially dead. Testing a known working motherboard and CPU on this PSU resulted in a POST error code I have yet to identify with every attempt to power-on. Swapping the SuperNOVA 1000 G1 (Flextronic OEM) to a now 7y/o Antec NeoPower650 (SeaSonic OEM) allowed the system to POST and boot and I was thankfully up and running again.

Other Thoughts: The icing on the cake here; this all happens literally less than a week away from my birthday, and so close to Christmas money is tight for everyone. Especially those like myself with an income below poverty. I do in fact know a LOT about PCs; how to build, maintain, optimize, get the most performance for your money and much more. Yet for all I know about PCs I have had the worst luck when it comes to failure rates. Since 2008 I have had two ASUS 26" 1920x1200 Monitor failures; an ASUS HD4850 Matrix cooling fan failure; an ASUS M4A79T Deluxe motherboard failure; a Biostar TA990FXE failure (resolved replaced CMOS battery); a G.Skill Trident X 2x8GB DDR3 2400MHz failure (works at 1600MHz); an Antec Kuler920 pump failure; and a Coolermaster Glacer 240L pump failure while keeping it running low RPM. All in no particular order. This not including minor peripherals. I swear I am cursed...

5 out of 5 eggsWorks as advertised

This review is from: EVGA 120-G1-1000-VR 80 PLUS GOLD 1000 W 5 yr Warranty Fully Modular NVIDIA SLI Ready and Crossfire Support Continuous Power Supply

Pros: Quiet
Modular design

Cons: CPU power cable is short for full size cases.
Not a huge fan of the ribbon 24pin ATX cable

Other Thoughts: Just built my rig this weekend and gamed pretty hard on it. No issues have been encountered so far. The only negative thing I have to say about this PSU is that the CPU power cable is pretty short. I installed it in a Storm Stryker case. Luckily the case came with an extension or I would have been hosed.

Also, the ribbon ATX cable looks a little messy. Other than that, it's awesome. Not enough to knock any eggs off. Got it for $99 with a rebate so I can't complain.

1 out of 5 eggsDOA

This review is from: EVGA 120-G1-1000-VR 80 PLUS GOLD 1000 W 5 yr Warranty Fully Modular NVIDIA SLI Ready and Crossfire Support Continuous Power Supply

Pros: Well, none.

Cons: So set up this guy in my new build and when i powered up, all my fans and lights on the mobo started seizing on and off. I immediately thought it was the boards fault, but to be thorough I grabbed an old PSU I had in the closet, PC booted up perfectly, issue is I NEEDED 1000W. My old one isn't gonna cut it and I do not know how to use this 5 yr warranty it supposedly comes with. This is a sad day, I have been faithful to EVGA all these years for power supplies, never had one fail on me before.
