5 out of 5 eggsEasy Hard Drive Access

Pros: • Simple install and access
• Comes with 4 wide head screws and cables

Cons: • no cons, if you are here buy this

Other Thoughts: • 100% recommend this to anyone who is looking.

This could be used as a Hot-Swap as long as your system is configured to do so. Research more before attempting this!

3 out of 5 eggsOk, with issues

Pros: Have 7 seven of these in a media server with all of them filled (RAID 5).

I also use one for an offside backup drive I take home with me every day. That means I open and close that drive 364 times a year, and it's been working great for almost 2 years.

Cons: Both the power and SATA connector are easily disconnected if you brush against the cables inside the case.
I wished both would snap into place in the back, like they would on a harddrive.
I had to use some electrical tape, cut into small strips to make sure they don't come off. It's a hack but it seems to work

Other Thoughts: I had two drives drop out on my RAID-5 because they cables must have come loose. It took me hours to get that working again.

I would not recommend or use these for mission critical.

4 out of 5 eggsGood product

Pros: easy install. Works to hot swap harddrives, fast and it works everytime

Cons: It is a little flimsy. If you have a tooless design case the there may be issues keeping it secure. It worked ok but it is a little loose

Other Thoughts: I wanted to be able to quickly check hard drives to format or test and this does the job. I keep my back up drive in it and when i want to bench test a drive i just pull it out and put the test drive in and thats it. No rebooting it instantly recognizes it

3 out of 5 eggs

Pros: This Rack works really great. It does what it is stated on the site and allows me to exchange SATA drives on the fly.

Cons: The mounting attachment on the rack does not allow me to tighten it to the case, so it slides back and forth a bit when the case is tilted.

3 out of 5 eggsso-so

Pros: Look good, close securely, have a simple mechanism for drive extraction.

Cons: Intermittently lose connection to/ drop power to the drives. Problem goes away when the backplane connector is bypassed, so I know it is either the backplane or the closing mechanism not properly positioning the drive. Occurs most often when drive is warm, and occurs with multiple drives.

Manufacturer Response:

Hi Chris,
We at Thermaltake apologize for the inconvenience this may have caused you. We can replace that defective backplane under warranty service. Please contact for RMA instructions.
Best Regards,

4 out of 5 eggsPretty Good

Pros: Allows for bare drives to be hot swaped if your bios + motherboard support it without the need for Hard drive trays. I'm getting the same speeds with this product that I want getting with my tray, rack system.

Cons: In order to get the activity light to work you have to use their molex to sata power connector with the little 4 pin adapter for the activity light. slight pressure on the arm is needed to engage the lock.

Other Thoughts: If you plan on buying this you may need to buy a molex male to 2 or 3 molex female connector depending on the amount of trays you hvae in your system. I have six of them for my rack mounted NAS. I am running Windows Server 2008 on a 32GB CF using a CF to IDE adapter for a removable SSD solution. Everything is working great. Shipping is fast as usual.

4 out of 5 eggsGood product.

Pros: Fairly easy install. Solid construction, ejector arm pushes the drive out to where it can be grasped and then fully removed after opening the door. Lockable door as theft deterrent. Went right to work as back-up for my workstation with no glitches. All necessary hardware and SATA cable included. Great, convenient means of back-up where your HDD can be taken off site after being easily ejected.

Cons: A bit of confusion in regard to the appropriate location of the cabling/wiring (probably due to my relative inexperience.) The included directions were detailed enough when I took the time to study them a bit.

Other Thoughts: Used on HP z600 workstation
used with WD Caviar Blue 500G HDD
Win 7 64 bit
Back-up performed daily.

4 out of 5 eggsGreat 3.5 hot swap

Pros: Fast swapping, nice appreance, cables are included.
Activity LED adds a nice touch

Cons: Mounting is a bit flimsy,
I would have prefered if the whole thing was in a plastic box instead of a few metal joints.

silver on black looks kinda strange

Other Thoughts: Own 2, swap once in a while.

5 out of 5 eggsNice

Pros: Indicator lights, Locking Door and Heavier Constuction than Others. Nice and Solid. I will buy more. Good Job Thermaltake..

Cons: NONE

Other Thoughts: I was using an Antec but it was really flimsy feel. Cheap plastic. This thing is awesome. Fits 5.25 bay and swap out Hard Drives for Bauckups. Never a need for external Hard Drives. O and NEWEGG ROXXXX
