Keep your Socket 939 system going with the Athlon 64 X2 3800+. The dual core architecture means multi-tasking and multi-threading without sharing clock cycles, so you get faster response. Individual L1 and L2 caches for each core along with HyperTransport technology increase performance by giving each core a dedicated cache of memory and reducing I/O bottlenecks by increasing bandwidth and reducing latency.
The 64-bit design keeps you going now and in the future. The AMD64 technology is compatible with existing software and it enables a seamless transition to the 64-bit applications of the future. This technology allows end users to take advantage of new innovations such as real-time encryption, more life-like games, accurate speech interfaces, cinema-quality graphic effects, and easy-to-use video and audio editing.
This processor is an integral part of AMD LIVE! This new feature from AMD will turn your PC into an entertainment platform second to none. Watch videos or TV in one room while streaming music into another. Your system will become a true media center with music, movies, and photos all organized and able to be shared amongst all of your connected equipment.

2nd x2 3800
- Pros: 2.7GHz on a DFI Lan Party Ultra-D! That's a 35% overclock out of the box folks! How? Read below. Stable and cool @ 32C @ 25.5C room/ambient temperature! Only 41C @ full load using a Thermaltake CL-P0114 and an Ultra case with 2 120mm case fans (one in/one out).
Sis Sandra XI scores: Arith: Drystone 18781, Whetstone 16536 Multi-media: Integer 50650, 55930 Floating Point These numbers a about 1% to 5% faster than the 939 based 4800 X2's and an FX-60's. Ha! Good luck finding an FX-60 and if you do they're going for more than $400.00 still!
- Cons: Ha! RU Crazy! A great way to extend the life of your 939 system for well under a large bill!
- Other Thoughts: This is my second X2 3800 Toledo I've bought in the last 2 months. I just HAD to build another for this price! This IS the way to go if you want to extend the life of your 939 system. I have too much invested in mine to replace it. I have 2GB of very low latency RAM, yes DDR1, a great motherboard, and a fast video card (7900 GTX). Why would i want to replace the motherboard, RAM, and CPU for at least a few hundred when this CPU (3800 X2 Toledo) can knock the socks off all AM2 CPU's up to the 6000+ X2's. Seriously! I overclocked this to 2700MHz (2.7GHz) by leaving the multiplier alone (10x), setting the reference number (FSB) to 270 and setting the RAM ratio to 5:6, letting the motherboard relax to 4X (800MHz) instead of 5X (1000MHz). This will be different for eveyone but I just wanted you all to know that this processor CAN do 2.7GHz when tweaked right. Do some reading folks! Extend the life of your 939 and pay a fraction for a huge performance gain!
This processor saved my life
- Pros: Able to multi-task much better now, I can drink beer and eat pizza while playing BF2 no problems... Serious...
- Cons: With the extra time saved wife expects yard work to get done :(
- Other Thoughts: Mushrooms and Athletes foot are not related to each other, Athletes foot is a closer relation to the Northern European goat cheese family.
Newbs should not comment about mushroom relationships and compositions.

- Pros: Fast, good temp, easy install. Almost anything you can think of.
- Cons: Only one I think of. The packaging. I really don't recommend using packing peanuts. :\
Yehaw Dual Core Toledo!!
- Pros: Well, this cpu is salvaged, arrived on time with a few bent pins, nothing a little tlc can't handle, but definitely not for the novice tekkie. Those of you thinking of snapping this deal up better know what your doing. Installation required a very light touch to align all the pins, other than that no problem. This chip really boosted the performance of my 939 pc. I do suggest goin to the AMD website and downloading the AMD 64 FX2 driver update for it. Planning to get more ram (currently at 1.5 gig DDR2).
- Cons: LOL! toledo x2 shipped for less than 70 bucks? How could anyone complain?
- Other Thoughts: Well I must admit NewEgg does have all the best toys a technoyuppie could ever want... BTW think they'd ever have a lottery so some lucky tek-head could run amok in there warehouse and snatch up free goodies for say... five minutes? LoL!!
Nice Processor
- Pros: Performs well, especially for the price.
- Cons: Older platform, but I knew that when I bought it, son not really a con.
- Other Thoughts: Some pins were bent, but I may have done that when installing the heatsink. The computer wouldn't POST, so I had to remove the cooler and CPU. That's when I found the bent pins. Straightened them with a mechanical pencil and it worked fine. Make sure you check for bent pins before attempting to install.

Highlights
 |
AMD64 Dual-core Technology AMD64 is designed to enable simultaneous 32 and 64-bit computing with no degradation in performance. With dual-core technology there are two complete processor cores in one physical package running at the same frequency to deliver TRUE multi-tasking power, allowing users to switch from one program to another without pausing for the computer to catch up and reducing annoying processing pauses.
|
 |
HyperTransport Technology HyperTransport Technology (HT or HTT) is a high-speed, low latency, point-to-point link designed to increase communication speeds between integrated circuits in computers, servers, embedded systems, and networking and telecommunications equipment. With HT technology the AMD Athlon 64 X2 3800+ Dual-core processor enjoys 2000MHz system bus speeds.
