5 out of 5 eggsStill runnin' strong!

Pros: The most reliable, long lasting processor. I also have owned it since '07 and running it on an Asus M2N-SLI Deluxe motherboard. Til this day it still runs like new. I have put many miles on it and still plenty more to go! All in all this is a great buy and for the price you can't go wrong. Even with todays high spec demands it still keeps up.

Cons: I've owned this cpu for 7 years and the only problem I've had with it is it has overheated on me in the past. Make sure you open your case up, take a few Q-tips, and clean off all the dust on the fan. Its a simple fix, and very necessary to do this every few months or so. After I cleaned the dust off, never had a blue screen crash again.

Other Thoughts: If you're running low on you building budget, I'd highly suggest this processor. It has kept up with me for this long and has survived countless hours of gaming.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat Processor

Pros: Had this running since late 20007. Never an issue. It paired with ASUS M2N-SLI Deluxe MB. Super stable. Fast with proper cooling there's never been a heat problem. Wish all were like this.

Cons: None so far after 5 years.

Other Thoughts: Always been happy with AMD.

5 out of 5 eggsmost stable processor -- better than Intel i5 i7 or AMD phenom or FX series

Pros: Installed on Asus M2N-SLI Deluxe mobo, this processor has been running stable since 2008. Running Fedora linux FC5 then FC8.
From 2008 until 2013, solid 5 years, I had to reboot the machine less than a dozen of time total.
I figure out these are more stable than the fx-8150 and fx-8350 and AMD phenom! Wonder if it has to do with the frequency of the processor, and note also that the mobo uses DDR2 (NOT DDR3).

Cons: The high wattage, but it may be the reason why this processor with less cores and high wattage is more stable than new generation Intel and AMD. The Intel i7-3770k paired with an ASUS P8Z77-M has to be rebooted every other day, as I suspect it is the frequency of the PCI bus that has most manufacturer do not pay attention to anymore (they focus on the count of USB and SATA ports and Windows 8, making more the desktop a media tinker toy!)

If you use the PCI bus, stick with old processor, they are more stable for running servers machine.

Other Thoughts: AMD FX-8150 and FX-8350 are wonderful processors. Did you know that their integer core is based on the 1996 RISC processor Alpha 21264 developed by Digital Equipment Corporation (DEC)?

5 out of 5 eggsStill Going Strong

Pros: Purchased just over 4 years ago, still running solid as a rock. I paired mine up with a ZALMAN CNPS8700 2 Ball CPU Cooler, using a GeForce 8800 GTS graphics card. Never had any stability/heat issues.

Cons: None really, but it's been 4 years so from a gaming standpoint it may be time for an upgrade.

Other Thoughts: Has been solid for WoW/Rift/MW2 gameplay. I'll be upgrading the graphics card and sticking with this processor for now to see how it handles SW:TOR, BF3, and MW3 after upgrading the graphics card to a Radeon HD 6970

5 out of 5 eggsStill a great CPU!

Pros: Have had this CPU for over a year now (bought it used) and it is still a great performer! I have it paired with a Radeon 4870 GPU and i run a lot of new games on max settings. Starcraft 2, Amnesia, LoL, and many other games all run on 1920 x 1080 Max settings with no problem. Best CPU you can get for the AM2 socket.

Cons: It will run hot with small or stock coolers, but i've got a huge heatsink with push/pull fans and I am currently running at 18 degrees C while writing this review :). In Gaming it gets up to about 36 degrees is all.

Other Thoughts: Great CPU, hardly ever max it out at 100%. If you can find one on sale for around 60$ or less, it is a great deal for a budget gaming rig.

My current rig:
Athlon 64 X2 6400+ @ 3.2Ghz
4GB Mushkin DDR2 800 RAM
Thermaltake 500W PSU
Diamond Radeon 4870 256-bit 512MB GPU
Seagate 250GB HDD
CoolerMaster Push/Pull Heatsink

5 out of 5 eggsGreat Dual Core

Pros: Excellent dual core processor that can easily be overclocked with good cooling.

Cons: Runs hot with standard air cooling.

Other Thoughts: I am running this CPU on an ASUS Crosshair motherboard with a standard air cooling system and was only able to overclock it to %5 using ASUS's AI overclocking utility in the bios. This CPU could be overclocked higher with a good liquid cooling system or phase exchange cooling system.

3 out of 5 eggsToo Hot for the Performance

Pros: Fairly fast, but not an appreciable difference with the X2 5200+ it replaced.

Cons: Runs way too hot. I used both an AMD copper pipe HSf and an Arctic Cooling Freezer Pro 64 in an Antec Midtower case with two 120mm fans. Idle temps were in the mid 40s, load while gaming would touch 64C at times. Heated up the entire bedroom like a space heater was running. Cool n' Quiet would cut the idle temps to about 40C, but gaming would still hit the 60s.

Other Thoughts: I will never buy more than a 65mm, 65W chip again. The performance difference doesn't justify the heat produced and power used.

5 out of 5 eggsNext Up-Grade to Come......

Pros: I get most of my reviews from you ppls filling out these
'pro','con' segments. Great reviews by the way.Very Informative.... I bought the 5000+ B.E. about 4 moonths ago.
Let me tell you this puppy is a MONSTER; I thought. For the
price at the time,$88,00 on rebate from hundo. Short Story,
i've clocked this CPU up 3.2117 from 2.6 standing. Multiplayer unlocked just like this one. So, I think of what this CPU can do. WOW.... Can't Wait!!!!

Cons: None about 'AMD'...... Nor 'NewEgg'.....

Other Thoughts: Thanks for all the Help everyone.... :)

5 out of 5 eggsbad muthr f*****

Pros: performace is comparable with the 1k dollar intel quads and is actually better than any of the amd quads as far as gaming goes (only exception is crysis)

you cannot get a better price vs. performance cpu

Cons: hot in full load, get a good high end air cooling cpu/heatsink

Other Thoughts: dont let intel win the cpu wars, fact is they only have amd beat so bad cause of thier better marketing, established name and usual ly have the best cpu at the very top( for over 1,000 dollars though ) otherwise amd is extemely cometitive. if intel wins the cpu wars, you can expect their cpus to go up 100% minimum, its simple monopolistic practice when you have 90% or higher marketshare, look at how much you have to pay for windows.
