5 out of 5 eggsStill alive and kicking!

Pros: 6 1/2 years later and this little guy is still holding up strong. I initially bought this to breathe a little life into a single core acer pc I picked up at the scrapyard. I added a little ram and a 9400gt (replaced with a r9 270 last summer) and it was a nice little budget gaming rig. Granted it was never going to see 60 fps in any modern game, but it was more than suitable for playing tf2, l4d, etc... and acceptable enough (for me anyway) for dayz, arma3, saints row...
Even now as the dying fans are whining their last gasps, I feel guilty that I will be finally upgrading to a new pc while those two little cores likely have many more years left in them.

Cons: Not the processors fault, but I had to find an obscure bios from acer in order to support this on my mobo.

Other Thoughts: No one will probably ever read this review or care, but after all these years of faithful service, I felt the least I could for was leave it a good review.
Farewell good friend!

5 out of 5 eggsGaming processor?

Pros: Well i dont see how people say this isnt a gaming processor?
my amd 2ghz x2 processor ran most new games VERY well at about 45 fps 60 on most games all high settings. so this processor will dominate any game you will need it for. people
dont mix up your graphics card with your cpu's. anything above 2.8 ghz will be more than enough for games these days. overclock this to 3.2 and there you go.if your getting bad gameplay with this cpu then you need more memory and a good graphics card

Cons: none great processor for high end gaming,

Other Thoughts: This processor oc @ 3.2 on stock
radeon hd 1gb 4890(beast)
4 gb ram
windows 7 premium

5 out of 5 eggsExcellent CPU

Pros: 65W runs very cool and is very quiet. 2.9GHz of goodness.

The heatsink installation went very smoothly. It was easier to install this CPU's heatsink vs. my old 4200+ which this replaced.

Noticeable performance improvement over my 4200+, especially in gaming. My 3DMark06 score jumped over 1600 points from the upgrade.

Works with older AM2 (only) compatible motherboards. (For example: My Gigabyte GA-M55SLI-S4 board unfortunately does not support AM2+)

Cons: None really.

If your board supports AM2+ CPU's, then go with those instead.

Other Thoughts: Even though AM2+ is supposed to be backwards compatible with AM2, not all AM2 motherboards will support AM2+.

If you are stuck with one of those boards (like me), this is just about the best CPU you can buy for it, and the price is right.

**With my GA-M55SLI-S4 motherboard, the CPU support listing does not list this CPU as being supported. It lists the 5200 model, which is exactly identical, only it's 200Mhz slower. I contacted Gigabyte, and they confirmed to me that this CPU would work with my board (despite it not being listed). I am happy to report that it does work with this board. All I had to do was update the BIOS.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat CPU

Pros: High speed compared to my last single-core 2.2 Ghz cpu. Can multitask with me playing a low graphic game or surfing the web while my little brother watches movies. Runs at 36 degrees celcius at idle compared to my previous cpu which ran at 45 degrees idle. Newegg shipped fast and product came in perfect conditon.

Cons: Packaging box was a little damaged but product was not harmed.

Other Thoughts: CPU: This one AMD Athlon 64 X2 5600 Brisbane 2.9 Ghz
Motherboard: Zotac Geforce 8100
Memory: 2gb GEIL High Performance Memory
Video: Sapphire Radeon x1600xt with 256mb onboard ram

5 out of 5 eggsPerfect

Pros: 64 bit. CHEEEAAAP. Dual-core. Low power consumption.

Cons: not 3.0 but close. more L2 cache would be nice.

Other Thoughts: My parents had a pentium2, yes a PENTIUM II so I had to upgrade them to something. Matched this processor with a bunch of bundled items from newegg-case, psu, mobo, optical, hdd, VistaHomePrem64-bit, 4gb 800mhz ram and THIS processor and I must say the performance is just outstanding. And to top it off - grand total was 374 dollars with free shipping on all the items...price including the OS. wow. Saved 55 dollars just by purchasing some items as a bundle. wow. Thanks newegg.

5 out of 5 eggsNice proc for the $$$

Pros: Quiet, Cool, Somewhat Powerful

Cons: None

Other Thoughts: I used this processor in a budget gamer rig.

Gigabyte MA74GMS-2 motherboard, 4GB Mushkin DDR800, AMD Brisbane 5600+ dual core processor

First off this proc is very decent for gaming. Ignore the previous review where someone stated this was not a gaming proc. Granted, I won't be getting 50+ FPS in Crysis anytime soon, however for less than $60 I am able to run Modern Warfare maxed out with well over 60FPS. Also I am able to run WOW with all settings on Ultra anywhere between 75-90FPS. Cooling is not an issue with this proc. I am currently running it stock at 2.9GHz and I never break 48 degrees C with Cool and Quiet disabled. Will be overclocking this week, hoping to get at least 3.1GHz out of it. Best bang for the buck at it's pricerange in my opinion.
