OUTSTANDING performance!
- Pros: This is arguably one of the best chips that AMD has produced under the "low wattage" banner. I have been in awe of it's performance since first boot and it is quite impressive. Never more than 4 degrees above ambient under load on STOCK heatsink! Performance is on par with the regular 4600+ dual core AM2+ without the heat and noise.
- Cons: None. 45w, 2.3ghz per core and a quiet heatsink fan are NOT cons!
- Other Thoughts: If you are needing a top performance chip with minimal power requirements this is the one to get. I have this installed in a 'internet' appliance and it remains cool, quiet and total system power usage is under 200w at max loading.
In comparison - My 5000+ X2 Brisbane system is 485w on max load and only minimal performance gains!
HTPC - KIOSK - Business System - Internet Box - you name it this will do it! Not a PowerUser chip but still offers close performance regardless.
Amazing Little Guy
- Pros: I Bought this CPU for a family member for school and slight gaming. this cpu does everything i could of asked for. plays all the she was wanting from the SIMs to SPORE. handles all her homework and Flash programs perfectly and is a beast at multitasking. its running on a dual monitor config off the Mobo GPU :P i wasn't sure the hardware could handle it but i was wrong. with stock cooler CPU never goes above 50c
- Cons: none.
- Other Thoughts: great cpu for Mid ranged gaming. work. school. and internet browsing. very good at Multitasking. even popped a ati 4850 on the motherboard and ran crysis with this CPU. so its got power you need!. deff a buy for budget gamers or a media box
Shh
- Pros: Decently fast but very low power. Idles super cool (35C for me) with only half CPU fan speed. So it's shh quiet, important now that I have a home office instead of a dorm room and like listening to my Klipsch speakers more than a grain dryer of a PC case. Oh yeah and it transcodes video and serves web pages and handles software RAID-5 + JVM + JFS for 2.8 TB of disk without getting warm or lagging, so quite functional along with audibly non-existent.
- Cons: None - can't go wrong if you correctly spec'd your needs.
- Other Thoughts: Now that I can hear myself think, surprisingly ... nope :(
