3 out of 5 eggs

Pros: I have an Emachines el1331-05- it currently uses the athlon 64 2850e , I see that the el1310-01 uses the le1640- and it is most likely the same MB, can anyone tell me if this chip will work in my system

Cons: Hard to find any information about the MB or application for this line.

5 out of 5 eggs2.8 = Great!

Pros: Only 45W power consumption, runs cool on stock HS/fan, provides zippy performance for the price point it is offered at. I use my desktop for primarily spreadsheet work and internet surfing, and occasionally for a bit of gaming. In doing daily tasks it feels just as powerful as my other machine with a dual core processor. In combination with an HD4670, this thing puts up 34 fps in RE5 (DX10)! Runs HL2 and Source games full-tilt!

As far as daily computing goes, this one deserves a look!

Cons: A surefire bottleneck in newer systems with powerful GPU's....serious gamers know to look elsewhere.

As far as daily computing goes, this one deserves a look!

Other Thoughts: Single-core might already be ancient by today's standards, but it still remains a viable choice for everyday computing and light-tasking for those on a budget or those who simply don't need the extra horsepower.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat CPU for the price

Pros: Inexpensive.

Cons: None

Other Thoughts: Worked perfectly as a cheap upgrade for a six year old dell. New CPU, Mobo, Ram, for $102. One very happy mother IN-Law. Priceless.

5 out of 5 eggsBest single core out there

Pros: I chose this one over all other current single cores cause there isn't something better. Outperforms any single core.
Perfect for HDMI HTPC.

Cons: Is not free?

Other Thoughts: AMD and Newegg rock.
The box says L2 1MB cache, but it's 512.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat HP MSS Upgrade

Pros: Really speeds up the WHS console loading and operations. Does not run any hotter than the old 1.8 Semperon it replaced.

Cons: Fan and heatsink was too big to fit in the HP MSS case, but I didn't plan on using it anyways.

5 out of 5 eggsThe "sweet spot" computer upgrade

Pros: Power efficient, when installed on GA-MA74GM-S2 motherboard, with Cool&Quite automatic frequency/voltage scaling, power usage at idle compares to the Intel-Atom/945GC solution. Yet, when called into action, this CPU kicks in and it's very fast... Excellent CPU for low cost, power efficient desktop/office computer.

Cons: When I can get a CPU/motherboard combination that runs on less then 10 watts, for less then $80, and gives performance thats at least 5 times faster then this current setup, then I'll do my next upgrade.

Other Thoughts: A lot of confusion on the net about weather this CPU has 1 meg or 512K L2 Cache. The packaging box says 1 meg. AMD web site says 512K. The CPU I received is stepping 2. Linux dmesg and every hardware ID utility I'v run reports CPU: L2 Cache: 512K. Perhaps stepping 1 had 1 meg of L2 Cache?

The LE-1660 Lima is a good CPU. It's a 1000 X faster then the Explorer88 computer I built 27 years ago. I'm very happy with what I received from Newegg.

5 out of 5 eggsBest single core out there

Pros: I build computers and still it's kind of amazing for me to see chips like these one. Pretty fast!!

Cons: N/A

Other Thoughts: The box says L2 1MB, but according to CPU Z only 512Kb. Anyways amazing.

4 out of 5 eggsGood bargain

Pros: Fast, cheap, and low power consumption.

Cons: Only one core, but I didn’t have to reinstall Windows. Dual core is overrated anyways...they’re just trying to sell more processors. :o)

Other Thoughts: Had a 2.2 Winsor that rated 4.2 in Vista. This processor only raised the Vista processor score by .2, to 4.2. However, the difference is very noticeable when watching shows and movies on Hulu or when playing UT2004 (I’m a little behind the times :) Low power consumption is good and I’m now running passive so I’m saving on the fan power as well. My box is a 24x7 machine so every little bit helps the electric bill.

4 out of 5 eggsCheap chip.

Pros: Comes with heatsink with paste already on it.
Powered right up.
Free shipping was the only reason i chose this.

Cons: Not dual core.

Confused comparing this and an "athlon 64 le1640". This is called an "athlon" and the 1640 is an "athlon 64", but this chip says 64 right on the box, but not athlon 64.

I dont know what the hell is going on with the naming convention, seems extremely confusing.

Other Thoughts: 40 bucks for a processor is never going to get you much. But, it works, and kept the price of this budget build very low.
