Is this good for gaming?

Yes it is a good CPU for game its cheap I've been able to run all games on it with little to no promblem on high or max settings since I've gotten its q little more outdated then when I bought it but still runns most to all modern games out todate

This is a good cpu but with a highly noisy fan .Is there any suggestion to remove this noise or

The fan isnt actually attacked in the box, so you can purchase a different heatsink fan with it and use it instead, if its alreay installed ive seen a few good tutorials on removing the old one and putting a new one on. I have a very quiet  computer, and when it works hard, I only hear my gpu and/or cpu fans and they arnt very loud.

Why are all the Phenom II being discontinued???

The Phenom, along with the Athlon, lines are actually quite "old" when it comes to technology. With the new Vishera architecture out, Athlon and Phenom are way outdated and a lot less powerful/capable/efficient than the new microprocessor architectures (old 45nm versus modern 32nm). Then there is also the Richland, Bulldozer, Trinity, and Zambezi lines that came out after Phenom and Athlon that fill the price gap between Phenom/Athlon and the newest, more pricey line, Vishera.

Although the Phenom and Athlon lines are moderately powerful even by modern standards, they're steadily being replaced, and you can easily get an equally powerful, competitively priced quad-core processor like the Phenom 965. When I purchased the 965, it was on sell for $99.99 from $109.99. Right before it was discontinued, it was $109.99.

Right now, you can get the AMD A8-6600K based on the Richland line for $109.99 which includes integrated graphics, and has a higher CpuBenchmark score, 4825. The Phenom 965 scored only 4286.

So, as a too-long-didn't-read, the Phenom line is just old and not as efficient and is being replaced by newer, more powerful, equally priced pieces of superior technology.

can i put this on a MCP6P M2+ mobo?

You need to check the compatible CPU list for the MOBO.  Go to the manufacturer's website to check.  You should do this every time you buy either one.  There is also a list for memory if you don't know.  If you stick with those recommendations, you will rarely have issues with compatibility.  But, this is just one semiconductor engineer's wacky opinion.

will a sapphire R7 240 4GB video card work with this processor?

Yes, in fact, I experienced a pretty substantial performance boots by pairing a Radeon Graphics Card with this processor and installing all the drivers.  Aparently there is software included in the driver package that causes the card to work directly with the processor to deliver performance level that is greater than what the card will normally output on its own.  I was extremely please with my budget graphics card and the level of performance it delivered for the cost when i paired it with this processor and 4GB  of RAM.

Alright, so the FSB of this processor is 3.4Ghz. However ive OCd it to 4.7. It is an AMAZING processor. Has held up against everything and the price is unbeatable. I would recommend it for anyone and any purpose. For example i use it for coding and gaming on a day to day basis.!!

Stock bus speed is set to 216MHz, with HT 2167MHz. but you can OC it to use faster RAM. With proper cooling you can bump the proc up to about 4.5-4.6 using just run-of-the-mill cooling solutions and its a good stable clock

AMD Phenom II architecture

Recently AMD made a move to their 45nm node to manufacture the newer model Phenom II processors. What does that mean? Well, explaining Phenom II can be best done by looking at what the first generation Phenom really was.

First up was the transition from 65nm towards 45nm, if you look at this from a distance it pretty much means that they were able to make this processor smaller compared to the last generation Phenom (I) products. And that has advantages, often to be found in lower voltages and higher clock frequencies.

The newest flagship product will be the Phenom II X4 965BE with BE short for Black Edition, this processor will run at 3.4 GHz at a full 2.0 GHz HT 3.0 speed. Its voltage range is 0.875 to 1.5V. This processor has a slightly increased maximum peak wattage of 140 Watts (TDP).

Being an AM3 package, the processor is both motherboard Socket AM2+ and AM3 compatible.

Being a BE edition this processor is much more catered for overclocking as it will have its multiplier and voltages unlocked. Black Edition processors support software-selectable increases to memory controller, HyperTransport, DDR3 and CPU core frequency.

This Phenom II part is based on AMD's 45nm Silicon on Insulator process technology and has a total of 2MB L2 cache; 512KB per core. However -- a big change in Phenom II architecture was a large increase in L3 cache. Phenom II can address 6MB L3 cache shared among the cores as a buffer, so it can exchange data in-between the four logical cores. That's 8 MB of cache and then we have not even accounted for another 512KB total L1 per processor.
•L1 Cache (Instruction + Data): 128KB x4 (64KB + 64KB for each core) 
•L2 Cache: 512KB x4 (quad-core)
•L3 Cache: 6MB Shared L3
