5 out of 5 eggsAwesome CPU!

Pros: This has been a wonderful CPU. It's quite speed and the heating isn't outrageous.

Cons: None!

Other Thoughts: I previously had a single core FX and decided to upgrade to a duo-core. It was well worth it!

5 out of 5 eggsGreat Processor!

Pros: Very fast processor, and very stable OC'ed at 3GHz.

Cons: None yet

Other Thoughts: I tried playing Bioshock with my system, 2gig ram, this processor and an older 7600GT, and I was amazed at how well I was able to play the game. Granted I did not play at max settings, but was able to play at very adequte settings and at a resonable resolution. Also helps playing on Vista (for DX10) and Bioshock being a true multithreaded game.

5 out of 5 eggsWOW!

Pros: WOW! Its hard to peg this processor with any load. I play ms flight sim x which is a monster and this processor takes anything! I have it set to over clock to 3.1 ghz when gaming and it performs without a hickup. By far the best processor I have ever had for speed and function.
Runs at 37 deg c idle and 47 deg c at 3.1 ghz...Nice :-)

Cons: NONE

Other Thoughts: You wont be sorry...Buy it! As always, Newegg rocks! I searched everywhere and these guys are consistantly the cheapest. Three day shipping doesnt hurt either. Nicely done Newegg!

5 out of 5 eggs

Pros: "flagship" am2 chip. Going from a s939 venice 3000 to this would have made me cry tears of joy...

Cons: DISCONTINUED!?!? AMD is slipping hard... i wanted one, but newegg yanked it from my cart :(

Other Thoughts: AMD is practically forcing me to buy intel!

5 out of 5 eggsFAST!

Pros: Fast! ! I went from a AMD 64 Ghz to this and so Fast. I am running an Asus crosshair motherboard with it set to auto overclock. Playing wow it overclocks itself to 2.9Ghz and if I am running more programs it will OC to just under 3.1 Ghz and never break 115 deg F. Overall this thing is awsome!

Cons: None

5 out of 5 eggsGood Deal!

Pros: This CPU is one of the best for the price. It may not be the fastest CPU available anymore but it still has plenty of life and is capable of handling pretty much any application. I have mine paired with an AMD 580x Crossfire Northbridge and 2 Radeon HD 2900XT 1 Gig GDDR4 cards. Fastest computer I have ever owned! Plus, socket AM2 will be compatible with the next generation of AMD chips so you have a steady upgrade path. Awesome stock heatsink.

Cons: its not the fastest anymore.

Other Thoughts: Its a good buy for what Newegg has it priced at right now. Get them while you can!

5 out of 5 eggsI still like AMD, no matter what Intel does

Pros: What can I say to this performance processor with an unlocked multiplier compared to a similar offering from intel for at least $1XXX. F that. Easy to overclock. 3.0 ghz and perfectly stable... working my way up to 3.6ghz.

Cons: none really :-)

Other Thoughts: GO AMD!! Barcelona/Phenom forever!!

5 out of 5 eggsCheapest FX series i've seen short of E**y, buy it

Pros: It's AMD, unlocked muli which makes RAM compatibility a bit easier and it's the cheapest current-ish FX chip i've ever seen on newegg.

Cons: It's 90nm fab, which isn't a huge deal, but it will run a little warmer then a 5000+ 65nm which may overclock better then this. Also, i still consider DDR2 to be more trouble then it's worth, but if you already use DDR2, or plan to you might as well get an FX, best for games especially if you're one of the few actually running 64bit vista.

Other Thoughts: FX chips are for gamers and overclockers. They are guarenteed to run at a high clock and have a bit different instruction set compared to normal x2's. The unlocked multi makes OCing easier, but i've always found it to be a bit of a gamble to get an FX to OC since they usually cost 4 times more then any other AMD chip, and are more often then not pretty close to the speed limit of the chip. Im still using a 4400x2 939 toledo core with a LCCBE stepping which i run 24/7 stable at 3.6ghz on air. booted at 3.8 but unstable due to heat.
If you want to OC this chip, it's alot of luck, trial and error. OCing is an artform, but you will need something beyond stock cooling, a highend motherboard and some common sense.

Also, recently it's been discovered that AMD's desktop chips still run cooler then intel's latest and "greatest" slaughter intel in memory performance, and really prove AMD's worth when actually running a 64bit OS. Since it's a mere $30 more then the 6000+, get it.
