5 out of 5 eggsWoke up my aging Compaq PC

Pros: Cheap upgrade for a 5 year old PC with a single core. Works fantastic with just about any AM3/ AM3+ board (duh).
Handles my usage just fine (I don't game. I use it for school and movie streaming)

Cons: None yet.

Other Thoughts: Its a $50 AMD dual core. Yeah, its old tech but for my usage, it works considerably better than the old single core I was running for the last 5 years.

5 out of 5 eggshum am3....

Pros: fast dual core(faster than some quads and half the price) cheap dual core...low power consomption and very easy to O.C.(almost up to 4gh)

Cons: stock fan and heatsink suck...get after market(an after market is only 20bux or so) there is a such thing as to much thermal grease. you made me get messy to save me 2 bux....

Other Thoughts: why does a am3 processor not have L3 cache and if it o.c. to almost 4gh (with no proble btw)why not make it a 4gh? if you have to go with a old cpu in a new bord till you can aford to get a better one than get one of these....seconde one now and i would buy more but there not as good as one for 10 more bux

4 out of 5 eggsGood processor for the price

Pros: Really good price ('modern' processors with the same processing power cost can cost almost twice as much, and eat much more power as well)
Good preformance

Cons: The included heatsink+fan isn't that great unless you enable the PWM control.
Because of the placement of the fan, the motor is right next to the heatsink; and, with the fan running at 3000+ RPM constantly, cooling capacity is reduced.
Before I turned on the PWM control, processor idled at around 50 degrees celcius; after turning on the PWM control in the BIOS, I can't get it to anything over 40 degrees celcius even under full load.

Other Thoughts: System configuration:
OCZ ModXStream Pro 500W Modular High Performance Power Supply
Rosewill REDBONE Black SECC Steel ATX Mid Tower Case
ASRock N68C-GS FX AM3+ NVIDIA GeForce 7025 / nForce 630a Motherboard
G.SKILL NS 2GB DDR3 1333 SDRAM
3 250GB SATA hard drives
Running Xen Hypervisor with Gentoo GNU/Linux dom0 and a NetBSD domU

5 out of 5 eggsPlenty of power

Pros: Cheap and Fast why would you need more power?
Especially since the Video Card's GPU is doing all the work for games.

Cons: none

Other Thoughts: I guess I'm old skool, but with combined 6 GHz on one chip, it's plenty fast. I'm running 32bit XP pro with the onboard video and I can play games like World of Tanks with no problem.
PS: Very fast FREE shipping!! Thanks Newegg!!

4 out of 5 eggsEasy as Pie

Pros: After extensive research about my eMachines tower, I decided on this processor as it was the same brand and style as the original, just faster/larger. Replacement was easy as pie and took all of 10 minutes. Took out the old one, wiped clean and added new smear of thermal compound and installed the new one. No problems.

Cons: None at present.

Other Thoughts: After almost doubling my processor speed, I noticed my media player "skipping" when playing music. I deduced that it has to do with my RAM now (not having enough to handle the new speed). Ordered 2 more 2GB sticks and I know my problems should be solved.

5 out of 5 eggseMachines Upgrade

Pros: Purchased this to bring some life to my 3 year old eMachines ET1352-01. It was running an Athlon II 160u 1.8GHz (AM2) with 2GB of DDR3. I upgraded the memory to 4GB, the operating system to Windows 7 Pro and popped this baby in and it runs like a whole new machine!

Cons: Heat-sink/fan assembly is pretty flimsy but works just fine for a 65 Watt CPU. Not worth deducting an egg, but worth mentioning.

Other Thoughts: I also added a better power supply (I had lying around) and a Radeon HD 5450 1GB DDR3 PCI Express 2.0 x16 video card to the setup and now use the system as a HTPC. I am pretty happy considering I was ready to toss this thing in the trash!

5 out of 5 eggsNice CPU

Pros: Easy to mount, already comes with thermal compound applied.

Cons: None

Other Thoughts: Great little CPU for the money. I will probably upgrade to a Phenom in a few months and then this will go into a HTPC.

5 out of 5 eggs4mos. old

Pros: was easy to install and definitely faster then my old single core.

Cons: NONE YET.

Other Thoughts: If it wasn't for the psu would have gotten a triple or quad core processor. But for everyday net surfing it's fine. Maybe I can get a more powerful processor when i actually get the money to build my first pc from scratch.
