4 out of 5 eggsWell worth the money

Pros: Low cost and great performance

Cons: ummm none

Other Thoughts: I chose this processor as an upgrade from a single core sempron, and I am impressed, the turbo core is wonderful.

5 out of 5 eggsRecent upgrade

Pros: complete package, CPU, GPU, HSF and thermal paste.
reasonable price / performance tradeoff.

Cons: none

Other Thoughts: upgraded due to XP out of support and this fit bill nicely.
Package this together with MSI A78M-E45 MB,
G.SKILL Ripjaws X Series 4GB , Win 7 pro and a 1TB WD blue hf. System up and running quickly.
Took longer to install Win 7 than to put all the components back into case.

5 out of 5 eggsA great buy at this price!

Pros: More than adequate performance for all but the most demanding tasks, much stronger graphics than the competition, low power consumption, great price.

Cons: Dual core, not for heavily multithreaded software. Not the best choice for very intensive gaming.

Other Thoughts: I picked up an A6-6400K off another site as a CPU to use for an HTPC project not too long ago. It's more than capable of that job, far above the requirements for any kind of workload like that. In single-threaded applications, I can't tell the difference between this and my FX-8350 based big rig, or my i7 office computer.

If you look around the Internet, you'll see a lot of negative reviews of this and other AMD APU's. Don't pay them any mind, they're based on ridiculous assumptions to start with. Yes, Intel processors have stronger CPU performance--performance you'll never need or use in the types of applications that APU's are called for. They also have dreadful on-board graphics performance--performance you DO need and use. A-Series APU's have real AMD Radeon GPU's on board, and even the cheap A6 can be used to play a lot of games if you're willing to turn the settings down. And then there's the fact that even Intel dual-core i3's cost about twice what this APU does. For that price, you could get this and add a Radeon 6570 for Crossfire and do some serious gaming with it.

Anyway, it's a steal at these prices, and so are the quad-core APU's in the $100 range. CPU performance is more than good enough, and graphics are by far the best in class. Not even close. And the 65W rating on this is very conservative. Most of the time, my whole rig pulls about 42W at the wall, and only hit 78W under load, for everything.

5 out of 5 eggsAmazing Value

Pros: Absolutely great for everything I do. The graphics are perfect for displaying all 400 specimens of my butterfly collection at once while recording sound and video at the same time. Doing this while also doing a five-way 3 monitor conference with Australian University and splitting 2 displays shows just how strong this product is. I never fail to be impressed with AMD processors. I like their sturdy pin system. No hair like springy wires like the other brand. Very forgiving.

Cons: None

Other Thoughts: The 3D graphics test out with Passmark 30% higher than the competitors $300+ processors. In modern systems the processor is not the bottleneck. Even with the fastest SSD like my Vector, this processor easily outruns it multi-tasking. AMD APU is very simply a great product. Their stuff just works and keeps on working.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat Buy

Pros: Great speeds at a great price. Runs Guild Wars 2 and Wildstar near max settings without going over 65C with stock heatsink and fan.

Cons: Dual-core so can bottleneck at times. However, this was taken into account on original build design so is a non-issue for me and no eggs lost.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat for basic HTPC

Pros: Great value for a basic HTPC. I've built a few HTPC's for friends using this and just built one for myself. Runs XBMC in 1080p from dvd and blu-ray iso's without any problems. Also runs all my emulators without issue

Cons: Um, motherboard selection for a small form-factor mITX is very limited but that's not really the fault of the product.

5 out of 5 eggsWorks better than expected.

Pros: Great processor for HTPC.

Cons: Not as powerful as Core i3 Intel CPUs.

Other Thoughts: I used this with a Gigabyte A88x mini-itx board for a htpc running Fedora 20, MythTV 0.27, and XBMC 13 Gotham using open source Radeon drivers for video acceleration and bitstreaming DTS-HD & TrueHD.

I have traditionally used Intel processors and sometimes added Nvidia graphics cards for smooth playback using VAAPI or VDPAU acceleration. VAAPI doesn't work great in MythTV. I wanted to play around with an AMD setup and I am glad I did. Very smooth playback and no tearing. HD Audio works perfect as well. I had a i3-2100 & i3-3225 setup before this one and this is a lot better for HTPC on Linux.

5 out of 5 eggsnice

Pros: works great, does all I need it to do with out a prob

Cons: none

Other Thoughts: EZ OC to 4.4 no adjustments, have aftermarket cooler, not a must for reg use..
get 1866 ram , I running it on 1600 cas 7,7,7 ram that is just fine, but cost more then some 1866 or 2133 with 9-11 cas.
I have gpu ocd to 1ghz, but no notice in proformance...
cpu speed and ram effect it most.
For the price its is really good, of course I started with a 4.7mhz cpu so 4.4ghz is nuts.....
Can play MMORPH games mostly maxed with smoth render, fully max settings get a little frame stick, but not like a 1-5 sec lag, just a stutter maybe goes down to 20fps

4 out of 5 eggsGood Deal for a Budget Build

Pros: For a basic internet surfer/word processor/e-mail machine running Windows 8.1 this works great.

It can even run some games. The only one I tried was Call of Duty 4 and it runs smoothly @ 1920 x 1080 with max graphics selected.

Cons: None at this price.

Other Thoughts: I built this rig for a birthday present for my sister who does not game. Got the A6-6400K/MSI FM2-A75MA-E35 combo for $118.98 and am pleased with the performance for the price.

4 out of 5 eggsGreat but-

Pros: Unbelievably fast GPU on this thing; I was completely floored by the way it handles graphics applications. Like 50fps "Furry Cube" GpuCapsViewer or something. DirectX11 support and the OpenCL GPU on this thing is fast too! ALSO PRICE!

Cons: Dual Core; not the same CPU punch as my Intel i5 2540M-but it has 2 more threads. The OpenCL CPU on this Intel is twice as fast as the OpenCL CPU on the Richland 6400K. This is NOT ENOUGH CPU for ASSASSINS CREED 3, but plays most of my other games wonderfully. But; note that only having 2 cores is somewhat of a bottleneck.

Other Thoughts: Having thought about it; I'm so impressed with AMDs CPU capabilities; plus thing thing stays COOL! Even under heavy load I never worry about it overheating. Having owned an older AM2 Athlon with GeForce 6100, I believe that APU was definitely the way to go. It's unbeatable for the price!!!
