3 out of 5 eggsIt works

Pros: It works. It handles daily tasks well and some gaming no problem. I built a system for my girlfriend to play Sims on. It handles that fine.

Cons: Terrible heatsink. Do yourself a favor and invest in a heatsink. The stock one is awful. Also, I've had display issues with this apu. Thought it might be driver related but it isn't. It just can't seem to handle a VGA output signal. I recommend using the HDMI port on your motherboard.

Other Thoughts: For the price you really can't go wrong. AMD is a sold manufacturer and I've always had great experiences with them. I was genuinely excited to build my first AMD system in umteen years. This was a little disappointing but the fact that this is an APU made up for that.

5 out of 5 eggsBreakneck speeds

Pros: 1-It was modestly priced (aka cheap).
2-It's very solid even when my daughters have 10 tabs open all of which are flash based online games.
3-It's the new AMD architecture

Cons: None, it does it's job well even under stress from a 5 year old.

Other Thoughts: I'm happy with this cpu. Honestly I was on the fence about AMD's new architecture, I wanted to go the the Blue side (Intel). But after seeing how well this performs in my HTPC, I might make another AMD based gaming PC.

Ironically, this one little CPU might redeem AMD in my eyes.

1 out of 5 eggsRuns way too hot no matter what you do

Pros: It's quite snappy. Was very pleased with the performance. This was a build for my grandmother.

Cons: It never has a lower temp than 44C, it hovers around 50C-65C with normal use. It was at 76C consistently with Prime95.

I cleaned off the thermal paste with alcohol and applied some artic silver, didn't drop the temps at all. Rinsed and repeated, still running too hot. Even dropped the TDP to 45W in the bios. Either the APU is faulty or the heatsink is rubbish.

Other Thoughts: Not sure what to do at this point. I guess I'll see how her computer works for her. The case has plenty of ventilation, but I worry it will not last long.

2 out of 5 eggsShipped Broken

Pros: Good Price/Performace numbers.

Cons: Shipped with missing pins. The box looked pristine.

Other Thoughts: I always examine the pins before slotting a cpu in. This one looked great, then wouldn't boot. After some troubleshooting I pulled it out of the motherboard and looked REALLY close. Two of the pins were just plain gone. So no return, no refund. Ordering another for the client. This is the second time in 6 months I've received a broken CPU. First one I managed to unbend pins. This one, can't unbend what's missing.

5 out of 5 eggsSimple, cheap CPU great for the office or home

Pros: Great processing speed for what it is, decent integrated graphics means it doesn't require a separate dedicated GPU card, can be overclocked (see Cons), great bargain for a economy build. Doesn't get too hot, stock heat seek is good enough to keep this at nominal temp. Use some Arctic thermal paste and you're gold!

Cons: Not much cons on this other than it's difficult to overclock this. Depending on what motherboard you get, it can be overclocked, but the CPU isn't friendly with you about it.

Other Thoughts: You can overclock it if you have an OC function on your motherboard but this isn't the best CPU to overclock. Spend the extra $$$ for a CPU that has OC capability.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat for what its meant for

Pros: 1. Really inexpensive (Compared to what it can do)
2. All in one solution
3. Better graphics capability than a discreet graphics card
4. Runs cool
5. Speedy for the price

Cons: 1. Tiny cooler (not a big deal because it does run cool)
2. Was not able to really over clock (Not really a con just saying)

Other Thoughts: I hooked this up to a Biostar board and have been nothing but happy!

I was a little worried I was going to have a complete turtle but it is surprisingly fast especially for the price.

If you are looking to get a personal computer going for minimal cost then here is your APU.
