Built on the innovative Intel Core microarchitecture, the Intel Core 2 Duo E6400 processor features two independent processor cores in one physical package running at 2.13GHz with 2MB L2 cache with a 1066MHz FSB to provide truly parallel computing for enhanced multi-application performance. Other features including Intel Wide Dynamic Execution, Intel Smart Memory Access, Intel Advanced Smart Cache and Intel Digital Media Boost, all help the processor and you do more in less time.

In office, PC usage has changed from data entry and word processing to e-Commerce, online collaboration and an ever-increasing need for continual security and virus protection. PC users are running multiple, intense software applications simultaneously and demanding more on hardware resources. In the home, interests have shifted from low-bandwidth photos and Internet surfing to downloading and viewing high definition videos as well as advanced photo and video editing. The all-new Intel Core 2 Duo processor was developed to meet all these demands.

  • newegg Intel Virtualization Technology (Intel VT) With Intel VT, one hardware platform functions as multiple "virtual" platforms. For business, Intel VT offers improved manageability, limiting downtime and maintaining worker productivity by isolating computing activities into separate partitions. In the home, Intel VT allows creating unique user environments for multiple family members using the same platform simultaneously.

4 out of 5 eggsNice proc, Bad fan

Pros: Very nice, a big step up for me from my P4. Able to overclock easily, now running at 2.8 with stock HSF. Excuse me if I sound like I'm behind on things, but I don't know how I survived before without multi-core capabilities.

Cons: The HSF. Where should I start? That the plastic pins feel like they'll break after the first application? Or that the noise generated sounds like I have a 747 jet turbine in my computer? Or the lack of actual cooling?

Right now at 2.8 GHz, I have it idling at about 31 C. When the processor starts working, however, temps shoot up well into the 60s.

Currently waiting until I can save up enough for Zalman CPU fan.

5 out of 5 eggsA great CPU

Pros: It's cheap and very overclockable. On the stock fan I got these babies to 3.2ghz and I'm planning to go more. I have absolutely no problems for a year and a couple of months that I've owned this processor.

Cons: It can't go to 4.0ghz on the stock fan?

Other Thoughts: If you're getting a new processor then this is good. It's pretty fast if you OC it so it's good for gamers and even office computers it's still good.

5 out of 5 eggsWant a E6400 for cheap?

Pros: I have three Intel E6400's up for sale
Specs are identical to these from Newegg
They have been used for about 4 months, under light use

PM Me on Notebook review, and we can make a deal.

Cons: I had to remove these from my 3 Optiplex 745's cause I needed to make some money.

Other Thoughts: I have not overclocked this processor, but from what I have heard it can be clocked up to 3.6Ghz, which is a pretty substantial overclock.

4 out of 5 eggsGreat CPU, Bad HSF

Pros: Very nice CPU. Can run all my needs perfectly fine. Also very overclockable. I have to admit, the dual core capability is terrific on programs optimized for multi-core processors. Cheap, nice power, and able to be pushed even higher.

Cons: I docked an egg off for the HSF it came with, not the processor itself. For some of the hype I've heard, it didn't perform to my expectations. So maybe I was unrealistic in expecting it to be able to handle an OC to 3.0, but after I underclocked it back to 2.6, it was still running too hot.

Next time, bundle a better HSF?

5 out of 5 eggs

Pros: I have owned this for about ~19-20 months now. Since day one I overclocked it to 3.33GHZ on my Gigabyte DS3 P965 Rev. 1. Has been at 1.44V and 45 idle and 65 load for that length of time. Still runs great today, am able to play ever game still. Max clock is 3.7GHZ, limited by temperature it seems.

Cons: NA

Other Thoughts: The system has only had one problem in 20 months, that was when my ram shelled out sometime during the 8th month. They were patriots, I RMA's but got 1 bad one. But at the time ram got so cheap I decided not to have a hassle so bought another 2 gigs.

5 out of 5 eggsBest bang for ur buck

Pros: I have had this proc for over a year now and not only has it worked in all 4 of my motherboards ive gone through, but it has been able to get up to 3.7GHz on my current maximus formula motherboard with it running at 3.2 stable.

Cons: its a little outdated now

Other Thoughts: you might want to spend a few extra bucks for a quad core since the cache on this one is kinda small and its a little too much money

4 out of 5 eggs

Pros: It's a Core 2 Duo. Pretty cheap and pretty fast.

Cons: Kind of getting old. Unless you're limited by your FSB, get a Wolfdale instead.

5 out of 5 eggsOverclocker

Pros: Highly acceptable to overclocking, I couldn't get this thing to overheat! Stock fan does a great job up to ~2.4 Ghz and I have this running at 23C!

Cons: Hard to find any...

Other Thoughts: I was an AMD guy, until the Core 2 Duos came out. Excellent processor.

5 out of 5 eggsWell worth the small cost

Pros: It has been happily running at 3.2ghz and 1600fsb for over a year now. As well the voltages stay within a reasonable tolerance, 1.344v.

Cons: The only con I have is that it only has a 2m cache, but at the time the price difference didn't warrant spending 80 more on a 2.66.

Other Thoughts: Nowdays I would go with the 2.33ghz with the 1333fsb for 1xx dollars. But this still is a really decent processor
