Fast and Cool.. My Ideal CPU
- Pros: I had a G0 q6600 prior to this chip... Excellent chip, but my overclocking days are over and I value good performance / low power consumption and temperature over everything else. When I popped this little guy in, I got an increase in both. This chip is rated for 95W TDP but as usual with intels ratings this CPU doesent consume NEAR that. A review on BeHardware where they tested power right at the voltage rail showed the 9300 pulling about 45W !!! The Q6600 was closer to 70. This puts the Q9300 on the same level as the new low power "S" series chips. I love this thing.
- Cons: My 6600 used to warm this corner of the room in the winter.... the 9300 blows cool air most of the time and only mildly warm when under full load accross all cores.. Yes, the difference is really that much between the chips.
- Other Thoughts: If you don't care about overclocking and want a cool running, zippy machine, there's nothing wrong with this little guy. Supreme Commander: Forged Alliance is a resource hog like no other and it purrs like a kitten with six players on this thing.
happy customer
- Pros: overclocks easily. low heat output compared to AMD. i used to love AMD but this one beats their current offerings of same performance level.
- Cons: slightly more expensive than i expected
- Other Thoughts: AMD needs to come back with better product like their Athlon X64 vs Pentium 4 era. Otherwise Intel will dominate the market and the end result wont be good.
Typical Intel
- Pros: It's fast.
- Cons: The CPU fan that was included crumbled in my hands like a child's toy. Typical Intel quality; little to none. The CPU itself is fine but this was an urgent install that got delayed an extra day while we waited for an aftermarket CPU fan to come (one that isn't made of plastic).
