Intel Core2 Duo E7500 Wolfdale Dual-Core 2.93GHz LGA 775 65W Processor BX80571E7500

  • 1066MHz FSB
  • 45nm Wolfdale 65W
  • 3MB L2 Cache

With the Wolfdale core, Intel pours more power into the Core 2 Duo package. The 45nm process allows Intel to reduce the power down to 65W. Lower power means less CPU heat, which translates to lower system heat and longer life. They also packed more features into the chip.

The L2 cache has been bumped to 3MB and the Front Side Bus has been pushed to 1066MHz. You can now use both DDR2 and the hot new DDR3 memory for extreme performance. They also boosted memory access and execution speed with the Wide Dynamic Execution and Smart Memory Access. These technologies work together to let the processor compute more instructions with more data per clock cycle. You'd better watch out -- your enemies will be shooting back faster now!

The Advanced Digital Media Boost feature has been enhanced with the addition of the SSE4 instruction set and Intel HD Boost, to give your entertainment experience better audio and video processing. It will also help with speech recognition, engineering and scientific applications. Most important of all is the security boost with increased speed and encryption power.

  • newegg Specialized Dual-core Microarchitecture The Intel Core 2 Duo processor includes dual execution cores in a single processor to enable execution of parallel threads or applications simultaneously, resulting in revolutionary dual-core performance, breakthrough energy efficiency and exceptional system response time when running multi-threaded applications, or multiple demanding applications. The innovative 45nm fabrication technology optimizes thermal performance for reduced power consumption and noise.
  • newegg Intel Advanced Smart Cache Intel Advanced Smart Cache Technology dynamically allocates the shared L2 cache to each processor core based on workload. This efficient, multi-core-optimized implementation increases the probability that each core can access data from the fast L2 cache, resulting in significantly reduced latency for frequently used data and overall improved performance.
  • newegg Intel Extended Memory 64 Technology (Intel EM64T) Intel EM64T provides an enhancement to Intel 32-bit architecture by enabling the mobile processor platform to access larger amounts of memory. With appropriate 64-bit hardware and software, platforms based on an Intel processor supporting Intel EM64T can enable use of extended virtual and physical memory.
  • newegg Enhanced Intel SpeedStep Technology (EIST) EIST allows the system to dynamically adjust processor voltage and core frequency to decrease the average power consumption and heat production. Combined with existing power saving features, EIST provides an excellent balance between supplying power when you need it and conserving power when you don’t.
  • newegg Execute Disable Bit (EDB) Intel's Execute Disable Bit function can prevent certain classes of malicious "buffer overflow" attacks when combined with a supporting operating system. Execute Disable Bit allows the processor to classify areas of the memory where application code can execute and where it cannot. When a malicious worm attempts to insert code into the buffer, the processor disables code execution, preventing damage or worm propagation.

5 out of 5 eggsGood budget CPU!

Pros: Cheap, Overclocks like crazy! got it to 4.2GHZ easy

Cons: Still a slow cpu for todays modern games and applications

Other Thoughts: Not even sure if these are still avalible on newegg, but if your looking for a cheap cpu for a 775 motherboard, might aswell grab a used quad core for the same price.

1 out of 5 eggsNewegg censoring reviews

Pros: No pro's about that

Cons: It's true, I have released several reviews about a motherboard I bought and made sure that the review met neweggs review policy and they have declined to publish any of them. In fact, it is highly unlikely that anyone will see this review.

5 out of 5 eggsExcellent Processor.

Pros: Very cool processor runs at a very nice temp on a stress test even in summer and in my country its quite hot, I was running it with the stock fan for about 8 or 9 month the max temp I reached on intense gaming was 47, 48C which is great but I decided to overclock it so I went for an aftermarket fan CoolerMaster Hyper TX3, I really recommend an aftermarket fan for these wolfdale processors they up the performance, the cooler it gets the high performance you get, still I can't reach the most stable OC. my target is 3.6Ghz, I cant get to work @ 3.2, 3.4 and 3.5Ghz with every thing on stock settings. Maybe its my motherboard or I am not doing something right! I run p95 and everything is stable but the computer hangs while playing games!!? anyway,

I run this baby on:

GIGABYTE - GA-P41T-D3P
A-DATA Premier Series 4GB (2 x 2GB) DDR3 1333 (PC3 10700) @ (667)MHz
EVGA GTS 450 SuperClocked 1 GB
Case Mid Tower with cooler master eXtreme Power Plus 600W

Cons: None so far, its an Excellent add to a mid end gaming computer, I still can't make it overclock properly, I am guessing it the G41 chipset, if you want to reach the max oc. you should go for a P45, P43 or a G43 motherboard.

4 out of 5 eggsGreat Speed

Pros: Fast, easy install. Would recommend to anyone .

Cons: Stock heatsink is terrible. just ordered a liquid cooling one. In the past month it's been getting up 100c (212f). If you're going to be using this hard, be sure to buy a better heatsink.
