5 out of 5 eggsReliable and Stable.

Pros: This processor runs wide open 24/7 in my InWin Ironclad case. It is rock solid. I do not use it for gaming. The system is also equipped with 3 video cards; 2 nVidea GTX 550Ti's and an AMD 7770. It does what I want it to do and has been for nearly 2 years.

Cons: The price is a bit exorbitant. Well, OK, it is extremely exorbitant. I feel I should have actually been able to build a Xeon machine for this price.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat little CPU

Pros: Fantastic O.C potential, Kicks tail on everything I throw at it from 3D rendering, to heavy gamming. Currently sitting at 4.7 GhZ pared with Mushkin Black Line 8-8-8-24 Triple chan. Currently keeping cool with H100 close water loop, highest its gotten was 45c. Prime 95 88c. for about 8 hours. Sure its a little dated, but I think i can still woop some tail on most chips today.

Cons: There are no cons at this moment, nor i doubt there will be.

Other Thoughts: OBSD 800D
G.1 sniper mobo
990x 4.7GhZ
Mushkin 12Gig ram 8 Latency

x1 VR 150 gig drive
1050 mushkin PSU.
Win. 7 Ultimate

Not too bad right. maybe i'll upgrade to the next gen. some time.

1 out of 5 eggsWho the heck would pay 1000 dollars?

Pros: None

Cons: Ridiculously overpriced. Why would anyone pay this much for a 6 core processor when you can find 8 cores for 1/5th of the price? Sure, this may be "insanely fast" as some of the poor fools have written, but its no faster than any of the other processors on the market. I feel sorry for all the tech-challenged folk who know NOTHING about computer hardware and shelled this much money for a processor.

Other Thoughts: How co

5 out of 5 eggs3960x

Pros: This processor leaves all others in the dust without even breaking a sweat. Even at standard clock speed this beast will dominate any task you lay before it. Ive been having trouble getting a stable 5GHZ CORE CLOCK but thats mostly because of my inexperience and cooling issues.

Cons: none

5 out of 5 eggs

Pros: amazingly fast. best single proc setup i've ever owned. i use mine specifically for long running cpu-intensive tasks, and i just love how it tears right through stuff.

Cons: price, i suppose. if you're not a boss.

4 out of 5 eggsNice!!!

Pros: It’s fast and easily overclocked. 12 cores really helps tear thru multi-threaded tasks. Like most i7 processors, it’ll take everything you can throw at it easily.

You can overclock it to the limit of your cooling system. I’m running 4 GHz on a water cooling system with max peak core temperatures of 74°C running 64 bit Prime95 in the stress test and loading all cores 100%. When I transcode video (88 megabyte/sec 30 fps, I frame only, HD 1920x1080), core temps stay below 67.9°C which is Intel’s recommended maximum temperature. The processor ran fine at 4.39 GHz but my cooling system wasn’t up to it.

Transcodes video faster than real time! Transcodes video faster thru the CPU than a GPU (and I have one of the faster, if not fastest video cards currently available).

Cons: Price! If it weren’t for the price, I’d rate it 5 stars.

Memory controller on my CPU was a bit twitchy. I overclock the memory bus to improve system performance. Didn’t overclock the memory as fast as my old processor.

Up to 12% slower than the new Ivy Bridge Extreme. You have to balance the cost of a new processor, cooling system, memory, and intended life of computer against the cost of the processor.

This may be the last 1366 processor Intel makes and its reached end of production!

Other Thoughts: If you want to breathe new life into an LGA 1366 system, get it! It comes with a huge heat sink/fan combo. People are reporting they use it for some impressive overclocks.

5 out of 5 eggs

Pros: Best There Is. and yes that is a period after is. Run mine at 4.72@1.50v for gaming otherwise i tone it down a little. Handles everybit of it and begs for more. The highest temp after the most intense gaming session was 67c that's on water. Cant say enough about this chip, i have it with the ga-x58a-ud9 mb and this thing simply kicks it. Very well pleased. The best mb & core i7 combo i've ever owned. With 8gb G.Skill 2000mhz ram, This thing is a lighting bolt. You wont be dissapointed.

Cons: The price but shop around i got mine for almost half retail.

5 out of 5 eggsLack of support of newer Technologies

Pros: Excellent CPU I love this Chip

Cons: It evades me why MB manufactuers dont make MoBo that support PCI e 3.0 and other newer technolgies that have evolved scince this chip was release. It is still the top preforming CPU on the maket today. head to head its still a better preformer than its Sandy Bridge counter part. I'm sure there are many who would agree. manufactuer need to get with the program. This chip is still being purchased today because it is still a BEAST !!! an will be for many years to come. Intel this is your baby at least you should still be manufacturing MoBo supporting newer technologies for this CPU !!!
