Once again Intel sets the pace in competition for performance and power efficiency with the 3rd Generation Intel Core processors, codenamed Ivy Bridge. Built on the market-leading previous generation Sandy Bridge architecture, the state-of-the-art Ivy Bridge not only continues the excellence in all aspects with Intel Hyper-Threading technology, Turbo Boost Technology 2.0 and Smart Cache, but pushes the pace a step farther with groundbreaking 22nm 3D transistor technology, which delivers an unprecedented combination of performance and power efficiency, and a couple of key refinement. The built-in visual is another leap offering you enhanced media and graphics. The Ivy Bridge IGP also supports DirectX 11 and OpenCL 1.1 to deliver incredibly detailed gaming and better heterogeneous computing performance.

The Intel Core i5-3570K packs four cores with Turbo Boost 2.0 technology to deliver incredible PC and visual experiences for all of your favorite activities—whether you’re creating, sharing, exploring, or gaming. Its unlocked multiplier allows you to freely adjust the frequency when used with compatible motherboard, pushing the performance to a new level and pumping the max out of your investment.

  • newegg Intel 22nm 3-D Transistor The 3rd Generation Intel Core processors employ the world's first 3-D transistor manufactured at 22nm. Intel's 3-D Tri-Gate transistor uses three gates wrapped around the silicon channel in a 3-D structure, enabling an unprecedented combination of performance and energy efficiency, and ensuring that the pace of technology advancement consumers expect can continue for years to come.
  • newegg Evolved Graphics Built-in visual features such as the Intel Quick Sync Video 2.0 and Intel Clear Video HD Technology enable compelling user experiences across a wide range of intelligent systems. Whether your application involves medical imaging, video surveillance, or HD media playback, the 3rd generation Intel Core processors support smooth visuals, quick digital image downloads, high-density media processing, and synchronous video streams. The support for DirectX 11, OpenCL 1.1 and OpenGL 3.1 takes your gaming and computing experience to a brand new level.
  • newegg Intel Turbo Boost Technology 2.0 Designed to increase performance of both multi-threaded and single-threaded workloads, Intel Turbo Boost Technology 2.0 allows the processor core to opportunistically and automatically run faster than its rated operating frequency/render clock if it is operating below power, temperature, and current limits. Furthermore, the processor can optimize both processor and Processor Graphics performance by managing power for the overall package, allowing an increase in the render core frequency and increased graphics performance for graphics intensive workloads.
  • newegg INTEL SMART CACHE This large last-level cache enables dynamic and efficient allocation of shared cache to all cores to match the needs of various applications for ultra-efficient data storage and manipulation.

5 out of 5 eggsOverclockable Monster

Pros: -Very capable
-Flexible overclocking abilities
-Doesn't bottle-neck my high-end GPU (GTX670OC)
-Priced awesomely
-HD4000 is now a legitamate form of graphics power

Cons: -None yet!

Other Thoughts: Let's get it straight. No, this isn't as cheap as the AMD equivalent, but it IS an absolute gem. Wonderfully reliable and a super hard worker. I have yet to max out all 4 cores at the same time (in AutoCAD, Inventor, 3dsMax, or in-games like Skyrim, Borderlands 2, Anno 2070).

If you're looking for something to overclock, this is the little powerhouse and when I have it cranked up to 4.2ghz, it outperforms my friends' i7.

After woke from sleep, core #2 is always double the temp of the other 3. Interesting.

5 out of 5 eggsI was an AMD guy.

Pros: Simply Incredible

Cons: Pricey (but worth it)

Other Thoughts: I used AMD on all of my builds before this one. I was always happy with their processors, but this is the first one that has blown me away. I can see now why Intel is more expensive...and the choice of many enthusiasts. This little chip is a tank, and a fast one. I'm glad I forked over the extra $ for this processor.

5 out of 5 eggsPeer pressure!

Pros: Price/performance is exceptional. For any gamer who isn't going to shell out $300+ on a processor, this is the choice.
Overclocking is the reason to buy a "K" series. If you're not overclocking do not spend the extra. OC'ing does provide considerable speed advantages.

Cons: The heat spreaders on the Ivy Bridge processors have a gap between them and the actual die - it's a very well documented fact (google it).

Other Thoughts: Temps will be high under any circumstance unless you use decent thermal paste and a high end aftermarket cooler. I don't want to lead anyone to void their warranty so don't delid your cpu.
Without delidding my temps are 28c/50c idle/max.

5 out of 5 eggsCome on now....

Pros: There isn't much to say about this chip. If you are building a serious game system, (And don't want to fork out the extra for an I7), this is the must have CPU.... It just isn't cost effective to get anything outside of the K series. And newer games like Crysis 3 are beginning to take advantage of all four cores, so the once recommended Dual Core CPU's are becoming obsolete.

Cons: None, but I wish Intel sold this OEM for a few dollars less, as I am sure 95% of these that are sold are not using the included heat sink and fan.

Other Thoughts: Easily overclocks to 4.0+ ghz. Long gone are the 125-140W CPU's, these newer/lower wattage CPU's leave headroom for OC'ing. It amazes me Intel doesn't make a factory overclocked version of this chip running at 4.0ghz (maybe call it a 3590K) or something...

1 out of 5 eggsDefective and overheating

Pros: It was great while i got to use it in battlefield 3 a few times, then i start hearing this beeping noise and i know that it isnt normal so i get a popup from norton and i see a whole bunch of high cpu usage inquiries. My cpu is idling at 40-50 degrees idle and sometimes a single core will have 100% usage. It was working flawlessly for two weeks and now im afraid to keep it in the pc because i dont want to damage my other parts. I bought this in a DIY combo and every other part is working great but the CPU, if you guys at newegg could get back to me as soon as possible so i can get back to gaming on this amazing pc cause i only have 10 days to return this i think. Thank you

Cons: None this is the best bang for your buck!

Other Thoughts: Please respond soon im not sure how this warranty works ive had the processor for almost three weeks.

5 out of 5 eggsFantastic CPU

Pros: -Lower power consumption vs. previous models and competitive models.
-Integrated graphics makes it easier when installing this into a new build, as drivers for the GPU aren't installed yet.
-Unlocked to push it to it's potential (granted proper cooling is implemented)

Cons: -Intel's high price is the only one I can think of.

Other Thoughts: Installed this on a MSI Z77A-GD65 and it runs flawlessly. Upgraded from AMD's Phenom x6 II 1055t which wasn't all that bad of a processor. I was able to overclock the Phenom from 2.8 to 3.6GHz via ASUS's Core Unlocker. For the 3570k I was able to achieve 4.2GHz from 3.4GHz via MSI's OC Genie II.

One great thing is the i5 stays fairly cool at 50C during gaming, even though I'm using the older Corsair H60 to cool it. Another benefit coming from the Phenom is the i5 consumes less power overall.

I haven't found much to complain about this CPU. A great buy for any gaming enthusiast out there that wants great performance over the long run and that's unlockable for your overclocking needs.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat CPU, does everything including games with ease

Pros: Allows me to play current games without any bottlenecking. Does everything you ask it too very quickly. Doesn't get very hot at all with a Coolmaster 212 EVO attached to it. No problems with it so far.

Cons: More expensive than AMD CPUs rated at the same speeds and number of cores, but seems worth it.
